«I hate being alone. Being alone makes me feel empty. I want to sleep with someone.» Kuzu no Honkai is a breath of fresh air, a new unique anime with a romantic plot that will leave you indifferent - or not. Kuzu no Honkai is a story about a group of frivolous teenagers who, instead of learning and thinking about their future, are engaged in love affairs. Everyone has their own priorities and relationships, but... Let’s just say we have 4 or three characters: in the first episode, we have the N1 character decides to make love to the N2 character because the N3 and N4 characters they’re in love with don’t share their feelings, and then there’s the N5 and N6 characters who are in love with the first two. And so throughout the actual series - everyone with someone is pardoning or sleeping, and all the action on the screen is flavored with immature teenage unrest and suffering. Problems that are far from the viewer, do not believe in feelings with emotions, do not want to empathize. What a little, though no, really hurtful, because on the output we get a purely beautiful sensual scenes, a juicy picture and ... everything.
Bright impulses of feelings and declarations of love are not a symbol of an impending fairy tale, but an expression of current fleeting emotions that can evaporate the next day. What happens between people is their real relationship. What's alive and spontaneous that really brings people together can be beautiful in itself. Unfortunately, most of the characters are immature and selfish in their desires, it is difficult to make any sense of what is happening; well, after the 7th episode everything slides into confusion. Some begin to hurriedly whitewash, and from others, on the contrary, pull out bad features; as a result, pure porridge is obtained, albeit beautifully packaged. In other words, the main characters are merged, and the secondary ones are pulled to the first row. And it wouldn’t be so bad if the characters were more elaborate.
In this case, it is easier to relax and watch like a soap opera - this is the first thing that came to mind from the closest analogies only with Japanese youth. In real relationships, there will be no charming fairy tale that expectations draw. A fairy tale is often unrealizable. However, if you remove rose-colored glasses, letting go of claims to the impossible, pushing aside the idea of right and wrong relationships, it may turn out that a person likes the way he is: with his advantages and disadvantages. Not ideal, but real.
The character design is not original, but overall good, although Kyoto Animation does not reach the works, but one way or another it is stylish to look generally pleasant, and what sensual love scenes artists and animators know what they are doing and how to present it. For there is a competent presentation of characters in terms of perspective and facial expressions, allowing you to focus the attention of the viewer directly on the characters with their emotions. What is required of a romantic work. However, it resembles the visual presentation of shojo. Suffocating close-up, excessive redness, simplification of the background, heavyness with transitions and other characteristic shojo moments. As a result, a small genre dissonance is obtained. The sound with the music is mostly praised. I'm a little surprised, I don't think there's anything extraordinary. However, their function is performed by complimenting what you see on the screen; thereby creating synergy and giving us (the viewer) a whole product.
Some call it “fresh romance,” others call it “anti-romantic.” He himself, seeing the tag seinen, expected more: a more serious (mature) psychological relationship, a stronger plot and worked out characters, and not these teenage sufferings, which can be seen in all sorts of senen and shojo. Another thing is that we are shown relationships, even though the characters of the picture follow most of their instincts, and not holding hands and the final kiss in the last series as in the average shojo of romance. But there is nothing more behind it - the break of the pattern did not come out, because if you oppress the line, then bring it to mind, and not merge everything into a supposedly banal maturation. Eloquently characterizes the series multicolored ratings from 1 to 10: such a cardinal dispersion of opinions and reviews have not seen for a long time. Because of this alone, the title should be paid attention purely out of curiosity, and it is up to you to watch or not.
