A brilliant example of how to restart (if, of course, at all) old IP. The licked visual style and palette, smartened scripts, augmented and reinterpreted biographies and characters, chic voice actors and dozens of deftly inserted cameos. So, it's really cool, it's all worked. You start singing along to the music from the lunar episodes, you think, stop, where I suddenly know it, then suddenly it comes. You can't bet less than 8.
Never considered Duck stories something sacred and untouchable, and remakes in the modern world, as a rule, it is customary to scold and hay. However, DuckTales 2017 is more likely to be praised. The first and second seasons left me in a pleasant surprise: interesting story arcs, twists, genre diversity, character interaction. Gradually, you begin to understand how Willie, Billy and Dilly differ from each other, distinguish their thinking abilities and enjoy the animated series. And in general, I believe that the brothers-ducks and Nightmare are the main advantage of the new round of the legendary franchise. Duck stories for a very small number of episodes have time to laugh, and touch, and touch. The animated series will cause special feelings among old-school fans, those who grew up on the original, since the authors of the remake very often place Easter eggs, sending the viewer back to the late 80s.
On the other hand, in the 3rd season I became a little bored. It’s hard to say exactly what the problem is. Perhaps the 3rd season is simply boring and ordinary, or maybe just after a long time it becomes noticeable that the concept of Duck Stories is simple and clear, that in addition to the banter and irony of the series as a whole to offer and nothing? Here is an example, the New Year's episode of season 2, where Willie meets little Della and Donald, the series is emotional, touching, and New Year's episode of season 3, which is not much different from the rest and does not remain in memory. And somehow the 3rd season as a whole is blurred, there is little Donald, little Night, very little Della, interesting series alternate with a bunch of frankly passing.
In the dry remnant, the impression of the new Duck Stories was crumpled: so bright and promising at first and so routine and dull at the end. Despite this, I still evaluate the animated series positively, if only because it ended in time and ended well, perhaps by season 3 the script ideas had exhausted themselves and the project began to self-copy. But the first 2 seasons are still good and they outweigh my grumbling and discontent.
Just finished watching the new Duck Stories 2017 and I want to convince all those who still doubt it is worth it. Obviously it is! Being still very young, I watched old duck stories, and did not understand the whole plot (even at the moment I do not know whether he was there or not), but I clearly remember the atmosphere and comfort when watching the next series, and they are saved here.
The plot obviously lacks stars from the sky and cannot compete with the giants of the film industry, but this is one of the ideal animated series for nostalgic viewing, or viewing with family, whose value is the main motive of the story. Some plot twists are more than predictable, for a better understanding of the young audience, but some twists made even me wonder, although I am not a sophisticated spectator, but still.
Characters have evolved relative to the original (again as far as I remember the original), and even new ones have appeared. Now they are not just balvanki, they are really characters with their own view of the world.
The structure of this series is literally the same as that of all such animated series: At the beginning of the season, there is a lull with the development of characters and a parochial story in each series, in the middle there are local conflicts for one series, but also a focus on the villain of the whole season (one for each, again quite classical), and at the end of the season the grand finale of the arch and so repeat 3 times. Villains and their motivation, by the way, is also quite typical and clichéd, but it does not freak out, because this is what you expect. In some moments (there are quite a lot of them) there are references to pop culture and old animated series, again to the likeness of duck stories (for example: black cape, miracles on turns, etc.), which makes you smile.
As a result, , from the described structure, we can conclude that there is nothing like this in this series, but this is an obvious mistake and it is worth looking more closely. In the compartment, everything described gives a nuclear mixture, watching which you do not miss and worry about the characters.
Reboots are not often successful. As a rule, they are made in pursuit of earnings. Maximum to finish the story. The creators of the restart of duck stories approached the task as true fans. But everything in order. At first, the animation is somewhat confusing. She's weird. She's different. Huey, Louis and Dewey are as different as the originals. While Scrooge and Zigzag are almost identical to the original. Why some heroes were redrawn and others not - it is difficult to say. More precisely, I can assume, and this will be at the same time the first plus of the restart: many of the characters made history and personality. Almost indistinguishable from each other (in character), Scrooge's nephews acquired their bright characters and depth. They ceased to be photocopies of each other and became separate individuals. Miss Kluvdia... but let's not spoil... In general, the more characters have changed internally, the more they differ from the original. However, some characters did not benefit. For example, Glomgold became from a dangerous and intelligent, albeit less successful opponent of Scrooge quite a caricature operetta villain with manic psychosis. How such a character could reach heights in business is completely unclear.
The next point - made logical connections and connected sagging plots. It's a masterpiece. Who hasn't wondered as a child why Zigzag works as a pilot off Black Cloak? Why is Magic de Hypnosis the first Scrooge coin? Who are the twins' parents? Very elegantly and at the same time carefully sagging story threads tied into one common canvas with the original series.
Third, new characters are added. Modern realities and changes in the personalities of the original characters and here we have charming friends Nightmare, and strange, but not without charm Mark Kluves, in which another Mark easily guesses. And of course, Bella Duck is the mother of twins, an indomitable adventurer and a seeker of adventure and treasure.
Which of these can be concluded? You have to watch. And if you grew up in the '90s on the original Duck Stories, and if you didn't watch any of the original ones. It is a very gracefully blended preserved spirit of the original and the addition of improvements and new stories.
These stories are not a joke.
And you can imagine for a minute.
What made them up:
Ducks!
This is the worst series of duck stories of 2017 and I will not watch at all and the reason is the new characters and my enemy Della Dak and aliens is like Lunaris and stupid villains and heroes and I advise you not to watch this cartoon because of problems and vocabulary and toughness and evil and thank you for your attention.
This series is good for those who love the original, and for lovers of good adventure cartoons like Gravity Falls. At first, the characters will appear the same, but they will have new features, pitch and depth. What is only that the trio of Billy, Willie and Dilly can be distinguished not only by color, but also by style and character. Perhaps the simplest and most canonical character is Zigzag Macryak. He is also not far away, has no special background, but is still a faithful friend and assistant.
Some people scold the style of graphics and animation. Whether this is a matter of taste, or over time everything has become better, but I like the dynamic action and bright stylistics with the simplification of some details.
But the main thing is, of course, the plot! It's not just an adventure on one series, unrelated to another! The restart will completely immerse us in a reimagined lore! We learn a lot of secrets: who is the mother ducking? Where did she leave them? Where does Scrooge have so much money and the main secret from the old Black Cloak? who is at the helm of WAON!
All this is flavored with humor and references and guest characters from many childhood series (Rescuers, Miracles on turns, Black Cloak, etc.).
The existence of such a successful restart gives hope that other restarts in good hands can also please, partially return to childhood and give new positive emotions!
So, the third, largest season of updated Duck stories. The 2021 season, with fire. And there's a lot to tell and draw the line of three seasons.
The third season is the scale of the Disney cartoon universe, where everyone competently mixed into a pile. Yes, in the third season we will see all or almost all the characters of the animated series that we have loved since the 90s. In addition to the well-known evil organization of V.A.O.N., the viewer in the new ' Duck Stories' will see the entire team of rescuers from ' Chip and Dale', Keith Vetrogon, Don Carnage from ' Miracles in Bends', of course, Black Cloak, to which Goosena was added. And, of course, the main characters are Scrooge McDuck and his nephews. Will there be Donald and Della Duck? Sure! The Hoves brothers, Mama Hoves and Glomgold? Of course! In one of the series of new Duck stories will appear Goofy. Can you imagine what kind of cocktail awaits you in the third season? I think not. We have to watch.
This story, which is in the 3rd season, can only be envied and rejoiced. The new ducks fit perfectly into modern times and the series looks in one breath. In the 3rd season, the viewer will finally see the epic confrontation Scrooge against V.A.O.N., and in parallel develops another storyline - about Nightmare. And the logical conclusion of the plot and the three seasons as a whole will surprise even true connoisseurs ' Marvelovsky' cinema.
The third season will not be complete without the favorite heroes of the old Duck stories - Magic de Hypnosis, Mrs. Cluvdia, and certainly one of the main characters of each of the three seasons - Zigzag Macruck.
In the third season, it seemed to me, the characters of Scrooge's three nephews - Billy, Willie and Dilly - were most revealed. And if in the old ducks we distinguished them only by the color of the caps, now each of the nephews is an individual charismatic personality with advantages and disadvantages. Another outstanding revealed character is Nightmare. A night in new ducks is above all praise, where there is not a trace of a tearful little crumb.
Benefit unites the entire Scrooge family one thing - the craving for adventure is actually at the genetic level. And the adventures in the third season of new Duck stories - at least plenty, for every taste and color.
Summing up three seasons, one thing can be said – the reboot was a success! I want to watch more and more, but, judging by the recent published trailer, we are waiting for a restart of Chip and Dale. In any case, I recommend watching the new ducks for the whole generation 'Pepsi' and today’s young people will be useful to get acquainted with the characters we grew up on.

For a long time I haven’t seen any cartoons, and now my eyes fell on Duck stories. To my great surprise, he managed to outperform the original, which I was not very familiar with, and which was not that impressive. A new look breathed life into a half-forgotten history. Next, I will try to abstract from the original and analyze only its remake, because it is now in question.
The first thing that catches your eye is animation. It is wonderful here, creates an atmosphere of comfort and warmth even at the most tense moments. The drawing is very beautiful, but not intentionally perfect, as in the recent works of Disney. And given that we watch a cartoon, the visual component is very important. And of course, animation without a good story can not live long, well, and with this everything is fine. Each series is a separate plot associated with mysticism, secrets and riddles. Without any horrors, after all, a children's series. But despite the age limit, Duck Stories manage not to stoop to some primitive. Everything here is quite original and interesting, I personally enjoyed watching these adventures. The truth was not without moralizing at the end of each series, which looked slightly inappropriate and stupid.
Another very important detail – the characters who looked very concise with each other and over time, each more and more revealed, which is why the sympathy for the characters constantly changed. And certainly they did not seem the same, even despite almost the same drawing. Everyone was completely unique and individual, everyone evoked sympathy and made them laugh where they needed to be. Yes, the humor is also fine, to sparkling jokes from Gravity Falls is a long way off, but still the level is high.
Duck Stories (2017-2021) is a reimagining of the classic Disney animated series and even the universe in which Donald, Goofy and other talking Disney animals live. The series consists not just of adventures or events in one series, but of full-fledged storylines that develop over three seasons. In its format, it is much more reminiscent of modern animation like Gravity Falls than traditional works of the 90s.
In addition to the format, the characters have changed significantly. Each hero received a developed character and inner world, including ducklings, which in the original series differed only in colors. The disclosure of the individuality of each duckling is devoted to one season (probably, therefore there are three). And in addition to the main plot about the Scrooge family, the stories of other characters are also developing - such as the Black Cloak, the Duckbot, new heroes and antiheroes.
Ducks 2017 is a series both for young Disney audiences who are used to seeing life stories, with drama and psychology. So for kids in the '90s who would like to see a more serious exploration of their childhood universe. The animated series, especially for season 3, has tons of references to Disney works, even to the games on Dandy, and will be an outlet for many veterans of the Disney club. The main thing is to overcome rejection due to a complete change in style and the transition from traditional smooth animation to stylized computer drawing. This is inevitable due to generational change; at least it is still an adequate two-dimensional animation.

A magnificent return of the cult for every child of the 90s animated series
Still remember this agonizing anticipation of another Sunday, when exactly at 16:00 showed two episodes of the Disney serial series?
And then another week to wait and complain about such rare meetings with your favorite heroes?
In the inaccessibility of such high-quality content (and those Disney series were very high-quality in themselves, and also brilliantly voiced in Russia), there was something magical, of course.
At first, the remake causes negative feelings. A very strange redesign of the characters and the story itself - square heads, the appearance of Donald, the shift of the adventure tone towards the incredible.
But literally after the first series, you get used to it and make sure that the new series is not worse, or even much better than the original, sometimes too naive and simple.
It is clear that the authors approached with great love for the original. Square heads are the same tribute to the comic book world. And otherwise, there is just an incredible amount of skillful, hidden and explicit, very funny and cool references to the original. Especially pleased with the periodic mention of the heroes of the Black Cloak (with its culmination in the second season, and even with its main enemy - Anticloak). Also there are characters from other Disney series, for example, from another great cartoon “Wonders on turns”.
A separate respect for the translators who have preserved the original names of the heroes invented by the Russian voiceover in the 90s (in the original, let me remind you, Zigzag is Lunchpad, Black Cloak is Darklin Duck, and Billy-Willy-Dilly is Huey-Louis-Dewey in general).
The creators ridicule their own clichés, and at the same time carefully nurture them, bring a lot of new things and take into account modern realities in the form of mobile phones, the Internet and others. Unlike many modern cartoons, there is an excellent morality, appropriate for both the child and the parent.
All characters from the original are in place, with each reworked and improved. Now each of the nephews Willie, Billy and Dilly really has a unique character, and they are not confused with each other, which was not important in the original. Their mother finally shows up. The most unpleasant character of the original, the character is completely different and correct.
The series is funny, interesting, daring, looks fresh and at the same time with a feeling of deep nostalgia.
I recommend it!
I want to conduct the review in comparison with the original cartoon, because it is impossible not to compare them.
Perhaps I will say banal things, but the generation of the 90s grew up on those magnificent animated series that went on Sundays in the early morning with the periodic disappointment of “shepherd’s word” and “play harmonies.”
Of course, among their brothers in the workshop, the Ducks stood out for an incredible number of adventures and mythical stories.
Not so long ago, I was revisiting the original series and things that went unnoticed during childhood became very noticeable.
The plot was quite jerky and did not follow one story, each series was actually a separate work with its plot, of the total were only heroes. There was a very naive logic of the characters’ behavior, and the narrative leapt over and over before it could be revealed. It felt like a poorly edited movie where the timing of three hours pushed in 30 minutes.
The new incarnation of the ducks surpasses the original in all directions, I watched only 4 episodes and got a tremendous pleasure. Beautiful drawing of characters, rich facial expressions and gestures, all characters have found their bright features and become more human. Female characters Kluvdiya and Knight became not just background characters, but central heroes with their mysterious stories and quirks.
Each series has its own story, but they are all related. The actions of one series provide a thread in the next. The jokes are very harmonious. They're really funny and fitting. In Russian dubbing, everyone speaks in voices that suit them as best as possible.
Perhaps there are too many emotions in the review, but I can not help sharing with you this joy from watching. This is the best return of the animated series in my memory!

As a person, almost ' grew up ' on Duck Stories of the 80s, just had to watch the new season, the existence of which I learned quite by accident. Curiosity took its toll. Your free time is coming, too. The feeling that 'Stories' no longer grew stronger with each new episode. It’s not that trees were taller and grass was greener. Of course, you can also attribute it to the age at which you look at it. But nevertheless, all the charm and all the highlight of the original cartoon in the new season is completely lost. For comparison, I watched several more episodes of the very first season, and then strengthened in these considerations.
Together with the new angular style of the cartoon, everything else became angular. Absolutely all the heroes literally degraded by order. There is no other word for it, the characters have turned into ' jokes' and all the values that were previously present have disappeared. Scrooge turned from a miser into a sentimental old man, for whom all his main wealth no longer plays a dominant role. His sworn enemy Flinthart Glomgold transformed from a villain into a stupid fool. Magic de Hypnosis has exhausted the supply of cunning plans, and the whole plot was for children age 4 years. The only one who hasn't changed is Zigzag McCrack. But he's going to be.
In general, the quality of the cartoon has fallen very much. The music scene isn't good either. And from the past spirit of adventure, which was filled with each series, not a trace remains.

Honestly, when I came across information about the restart of Duck Stories, I was very worried about the quality of the product. Of course, no one can spit in my childhood, because they can't take the Old Ducks either! But still restarts very rarely fire. And this one shot pretty well in my opinion! I love the old series, but the fact is it's more childish than a reboot. This is not a negative, but still affects perception. The old series didn't bother to explain things like where the triplets' parents were, why Scrooge and Donald hadn't spoken in years, etc. The series consisted of separate novels that could be grouped together in arches, but there was no through plot.
In the restart, they decided to change the situation and deepen the plot by adding to it a cross-cutting intrigue on the topic: ' Where did the twins' mother go?' It went to the show's advantage, adding intrigue and family drama. Finally, everything fell into place and there were answers to questions from the old series. It’s good to have a full-fledged drama that affects the lives and characters. Also very noticeable influence on the New Ducks series Gravity Falls. But for me personally it was not a minus.
As for the characters, they have also undergone changes. Triplets are no longer conjoined twins with one brain and three characters. They got their individuality and even their clothes began to differ in style. That's a definite plus. Of course, I liked this trio in the old series, but honestly, if there were two instead of three, nothing would have changed.
And whose change I'm happy about is Ponkey! Yes, in the old series she pissed me off more than completely and I’m glad that the character was reworked making her look like Mabel Pines from Graffiti Falls.
Very pleased that Donald was finally pulled from the background and made him a full-fledged character of the series.
Other characters have also undergone changes - Kluvdia is no longer the grandmother of God's dandelion, but a formidable boybaba, who for some reason reminded me of our Soviet Freken Bock. The screw is not a complex whiner, but a candidate for an evil genius. Glomgold is still greedy, but he's fat. At first I was confused by the images of these characters, but in the context of the series they look appropriate. The one I can't say anything about is Fenton. In the old series, I don’t remember him at all. But in the new one, he came out quite a cute character. Scrooge and Zigzag are also still sympathetic. These characters have hardly changed. Except that Zigzag got younger and turned from a middle-aged man into a very young guy.
And of course Della... Her story is quite dramatic, and at the same time shows that sometimes you need to think about others, not just yourself! Della’s stupidity ruined not only her life, but also her family, forcing Donald and Scrooge to quarrel and interrupt communication for 10 years! She also deprived her mother of her sons, turned Donald from a cheerful adventurer into a grumpy, always dissatisfied single father, raising three nephews, made Scrooge withdraw into herself and feel guilty for her disappearance for many years. This theme of family values and bribes in the series.
As for the plot, I am glad that the authors did not copy the old series, but with a new drawing. Instead, made a bunch of references to the old series, which is nice to see the audience, who grew up on the old series.
And of course the graphics! Oh, how many negative criticisms I have received about the drawing. But she's still good! The old drawing was nice, but under the new adventure, the new comic style fits more. I also had a lot of criticism of the soundtrack. Like, the arrangement is not the same, and the female voice sings, and the type of fantasy they have not once taken an old song ... I mean, if they had a new song, what would it be? The same people would cry out that the new song is bad, you should have put the old one in the show, because it will last forever. So you can't please everyone.
In the 90s I watched Duck Stories & #39; with pleasure, they matched my age, were understandable and loved. Now the old series is a bit boring to watch, but the new reimagined version surprised me pleasantly. At first, the frames of the new cartoon were questioned - an angular modern drawing, this is generally characteristic of modern animation, but in contrast to this, cartoons now contain more drive and semantic load, so that the drawing quickly becomes to the place.
The first series of new duck adventures fascinated me. The constant movement, the development of events, except for individual stories in each part, is the connection between the series themselves, the end-to-end story or as they say. . .
Some characters have changed dramatically - Mrs. Kluvdia's kind chubby is now a harsh housekeeper with hedgehog mittens, tender Nightmare is now ripped off with a break, and it suits them. The only thing I didn't like was that Zigzag was made an idiot. In the old version, he was a jerk, but not a fool and stood in the foreground with everyone, and now he is just an annoying background.
I didn’t like Donald’s voice – I don’t know what he’s saying, you get tired of straining your hearing. To voice such a character is difficult, before it turned out something articulate, now no. You can't understand Donald's speech at all.
Now Disney has a period when the company turns to its world animated classics and adapts them to the modern way. It all began with 'Beauty and the Beast', then 'The Jungle Book', in line 'The Lion King', 'Mulan', 'Dumbo', 'Aladdin'. I did not forget Disney and about his TV series, the first honor was to be the reboot of Duck Stories & #39;. Today I am writing an interim review after watching 13 episodes of Season 1 of the new series.
For all my love for the original, which I watched more than once, against the background of the restart, it objectively loses in many ways. In the original there was no global plot, except for several interconnected series, he appeared only in the last series, but by God - better he did not appear there. Because this alien halimatia that stole Scrooge's vault is the worst thing you could think of, and what makes you remember the classics with unflattering words. Classic, but that's too much. The second manifested significant drawback is the characters of the children: twins in the original can be distinguished only by clothes, and can voices - they have no individual traits when they are dressed in the same costumes to understand which of them is almost impossible. Nightfall is also some faceless existence that irritates not only the brothers, but also the viewer, in contrast to the new Nightfall, which is many times more interesting to watch. The only thing that hasn’t gotten worse over the years is music. Only thanks to her, the original series is not forgotten, but one of her is not enough to cover the shortcomings. Now let’s talk about rebooting.
Since the days 'Gravity Falls' new 'Duck Stories' - almost the only modern series that managed to interest me and really captivate me. And not just because it’s a reboot of the original. The restart is built like the rest of the modern animated series: there is a global plot (unlike the original), which develops as the series releases. The series has enough parallels with 'Gravity Falls' and this is not accidental, since almost the entire team has worked on 'Gravity Falls'.
The first thing that catches the eye is the style of drawing: it is made in the style of Disney animation of the 60-70s. Similar animations are used in the latest mini-series of Mickey Mouse. Whatever they say 'smarts' from the Internet, stuck in the early 90s and accustomed to children's bright colors, this style goes to the series, and muted colors give exactly the effect and atmosphere that you need. The show has grown up. And not just that. Characters of ducklings are spelled out here: each of the twins has its own character and habits. You will never again confuse Billy with Willie, and Willie with Dilly: Willie is an adventurer, an adventurer, Billy is an intellectual and an organizer, and Dilly is a lazy person who loves a beautiful life. The night-night has also changed a lot: she is no longer that annoying girl with a navel, but an energetic and intelligent girl with her advantages and shortcomings. She is often compared to Mabel Pines, this resemblance strengthens the boarding hook that both heroines were awarded. However, the similarities end there: Mabel’s main feature was optimism, which both hindered and helped her. Mabel is too frivolous and obsessed with boys, she has changed little for the finale of the series while Nightmare is smart enough to learn from her mistakes and has its flaws, making her more human and interesting. The only thing that unites them is energy and a tool in the form of a cat hook. The image of Mrs. Kluvdia's grandmother was also greatly changed. Now this is not a nice old nanny, but a harsh one that does not tolerate objections, a governess, ready for everything and advocating for order and discipline. Some of these changes may be unusual, as I initially did, but remember the original. Character development is only plus the series. Only Scrooge McDuck, Zig-Zag and Donald remained unchanged. What is nice, we have to voice Night and Scrooge returned the former actors.
The plot revolves around the disappearance of the twin mother, Della Duck, which is undoubtedly better than what happened in the original. It develops slowly, because now in fact only Night with Willie are moving the plot, who are busy finding a solution. It is noteworthy that the female characters here are written a little better in the sense that they give more new information. It is also worth noting how new characters are introduced here, and they are introduced quite often: in almost every filler series, some character appears that is interesting to watch. Always the right place. However, each series is a separate story, although there are fewer adventures here than in the original.
13 episodes have been released and during this time after watching them, I have nothing to reproach the series. Let ' experts' scold everything in a row, but the fact remains: objectively ' Duck stories' 2017 better than the original in the plot and in the development of characters. The only thing that can be reproached the creators - it's a long hyastus between the release of the series, in this regard ' Ducks' began to look like ' Lady Bug', but the series there are less and they are all interesting. The restart was definitely a success. I will wait for the finale of season 1, and then you will see the second and will reach the turn to ' Black Cloak'.
We are. Who's against us with that duckling syndrome?
Primarily 'Duck Stories' 2017, should be evaluated separately from the source from which they were created. What is the reason for this?
1.For well-made animation and technical component?
Clumsy made characters, square heads, sharp corners, lack of elaboration of design and the absence of extremes between key frames. Because of what the animation seems twitchy, with a lack of smoothness. The color palette is matched terribly, brown, gray and black tones, along with the non-expressive nauseating colors of the characters. The butts are not worked out at all, the city looks like a pair of squares on a huge spot that should be a hill. Cloned extras, examples of Flinthart Glomgold advertising, where there are absolutely the same male ducks and something is twisted with screwdrivers, or where Donald Duck drove Scrooge a hundred washing machines and they are carried by a hundred identical-looking couriers, of course I find faulty. But the budget of the cartoon, except for marketing and advertising, was nowhere else to be spent?
2. What about the inert stories in each series?
The plot is built and let’s make fun of the cliché, and let’s not let’s make fun of 'cliché' and make a good start and development of the series? Or, other than to joke over the cliché, nothing works, I of course understand that the viewer is brazen not by day but by the hour and even if the movie product has the final credits, it will be perceived as a cliché, a template, and worn out, but still. In general, the series cannot without humor, it seems that the viewer will fall asleep if they do not joke in front of him every second, especially funny looks like the creators joke with adult jokes in a children's series with a rating of 6+.
3. Are there any good characters?
Traffic light, and so I will call the local trinity, now consists of the so-called ' personalities' and ' prescribed characters' namely, freak, dummy and seasoned. Speaking of the freak in the blue caftan, he was made an annoying fool claiming the Darwin Award & #39; the desire for adventure causes neglect of his own health. There is a scene where he would have made a great duck in Beijing, but thanks to the actions of Donald, the tragedy was avoided and the tomboy survived. Also striking is the interaction of the characters, when Zigzag Makryak was bitten by snakes, blue, red and Scrooge did not even ask what was with him, and as if nothing had happened, continued on their way. Fortunately Mabel and seasoned are not such cattle, and Zaga did not abandon, which is pleasing. Mabel, well, she's in Mabel's gravity, the same type just isn't a human anymore, but an anthropomorphic duck, copying itself isn't the absence of ideas. You can also say that Miss Clauvdia looks like a closet. And Zigzag is just a fool who has a few jokes. That's it.
The old series had errors, errors. But what has been revealed to the people is no longer in the gate. Why buy a new bike when you have an old one? In general, what value does this series have now, if in 30 years it will become obsolete and lose relevance? What's the point? I'll tell you what. The point is that modern society does not know how to remember, appreciate and most importantly love. It only consumes, everything new, shiny and fresh. 30 years in the whole world, that's even less than a second. But because of people’s ' memory fish' they go nowhere, disappear as if all this had not happened. It’s like there were no old duck stories, adventures, mysteries, mysteries. And so it loses relevance. Why read George Orwell '1984' because there are almost no dictatorial regimes left, and the one that is, he is in North Korea, it is far from me to be afraid. Or why read 'Heart of Darkness', there are no colonies in Africa for a long time, there is independence and ' well-being' We lose the thread with the classics of past years, giving everything new not because it raises new topics or in itself is interesting to us, no. It's because it's new, just from the counter, where the smiling gentleman is a salesman, cleverly sold it to us, along with a colorful wrapper behind which there is nothing. It will turn yellow and what will be left behind?
Is all this new good? So good is Nolanovsky ' Dunkirk' in comparison with ' On the Western front without change' can touch the strings of human love '50-shades of gray' as did ' Gone with the Wind' Does modern animation raise the theme of a bad mentality - ' Last Year's Snow Fallen', the struggle for survival in a hostile environment of victims of circumstances - ' Plague Dogs' class injustice - ' Flanders dog' the senselessness of human enmity - ' Nausicaia of the Valley of the Winds' I doubt it. And it's not that ' Previously grass was green' just don't want to do. Why try in front of you, spectator, if you do not appreciate, you will spit your own 'imho' and ends meet. Why do a good animation if you don't notice? Why make an interesting story when you say it already happened, even though there are only 36 stories in total. Why prescribe characters if you use dumb templates to evaluate like they don’t develop or ' I don’t like' Why, that's it? You think I'm justifying the creators, then look at the reviews, if there are so many bad movies in the world why can't there be so many poor reviews?
Consumer society quickly forgets everything, it needs everything new, the rest is useless. Why should we be interested in something, find out what styles were adhered to before, what problems people worried about, what was relevant and how the world changed compared to our modernity? A person who does not remember his past is a dummy, one can also say about art. But why, why do we do this, is it not easier to click on the tab of novelty and give yourself to novelty, let it be empty and meaningless. Generally funny to see how 'Gravity Falls' forgotten immediately after graduation, or 'Naruto' after release 'Buruto' I don’t mind modernizing 'Duck Stories' as long as we are presented with a fresh look with new stories and visual style. Rethinking, with respect to the source. Not a piece of the product of life, where the authors in various references, hint as they ' love' classic ' Duck stories'. So why serenade now if nobody remembers you later? . .
It is this phrase that should describe my feelings from watching the modern version of the cult ' Duck stories'. The project, which was stunned by the very fact of its appearance, shot unexpectedly, but extremely accurately.
The first thing that is baffling (in an exceptionally good sense) is the radically redesigned characters of the main characters. But no, not recycled. Created. Looking back, you realize how little personality the characters of the classic version of the series had, so forgive me irreconcilable adherents.
Scrooge McDuck's grumpy grandfather is a mix of Clint Eastwood and Indiana Jones? Why not?
Innocuous housekeeper Kluvdia is the female version of Mike Ehrmantraut. Oh, yeah!
Irritating and crying Ponca is Mabel Pines' duck variation on steroids? Jokes jokes, but in the 3rd series she was even given a fucking hook!
And so with everyone. Only Zig Zag has not changed in any way, and it is not necessary.
I'll move on to the ambiguities. I’m probably part of a camp where not only do they approve of a sharp reversal in the characters’ personalities, but would even prefer to see more changes. Donald Duck plays one of the main roles in the updated version, which he could not dream of in the 80s. Except it's the same crazy duck from the '30s, in an invariably misplaced sea whale. The spectacle of a classic Disney character flipping through a photo in a smartphone causes some dissonance. That's who the upgrade would be good for. For example, it would not hurt to give Donald a military shirt in the style of a militarist instead of a front kitten, if it is so important for him to emphasize his belonging to the Navy. Dreams, dreams...
Drawing. Let me be clear, I don't like her. Stylish, no questions asked. But the comic style personally cuts my eyes after the lamp classic drawing of times ' Disney Club'. IMHO.
The first two episodes seemed a bit boring, but after the 3rd and 4th I finally got involved. Authors by that time found the right balance between accurate jokes, revealing characters and the development of the plot. Yes, now ' Duck stories' not just a hodgepodge of one-off adventures, from now on through the series thread stretched the story of family and betrayal, where for the first time in history appears one of the parents of ducklings triplets. That's a twist. And we all thought that they were raised in test tubes.
My preliminary estimate is 8.5.
I am looking forward to the new series. And... please listen to my prayers and do the same with Chip and Dale!
- Well, honey, now I'm not such a fool as in my youth!
I'm a huge fan of Duck Stories from '87 to '90. Although I was born much later, thanks to my parents, I was able to plunge into the endless adventures of the richest spleen in the world, his nephews and many other characters.
And to be honest, I was not very happy with the news about the relaunch of the classic animated series. But the numerous concept art and trailer with a pleasant animation were able to inspire in me hope for a good restart! Have my expectations been met? Not completely, but to a greater extent yes.
So, the pilot series almost from the very first frame throws us into the whirlpool of tricks that are arranged by Donald's nephews on his ship. Of course, the latter is late for an interview and he needs to escort his nephews to the hospital. The richest spleen in the world! And then the heroes cover numerous adventures.
Immediately I want to note the key plus of the restart compared to the original. These are nephews, they have a real feature, characters have become more different, and clothes even in style have become different. And I am more than sure that in the course of the series, the characters of these three naughties will become even more vivid and distinctive from each other.
I really liked the drawing. Just like the pages of comic books. I’m not going to compare the animation from the original and the restarted series. Simply because the ways of presenting the visual series are too different, the original characters were more voluminous and at the same time two-dimensional, but not as detailed as the ducks from the restart.
The fact that Scrooge McDuck's original voiceover was performed by David Tennant is incredible to me as a Doctor Who fan.
Mrs. Claudia didn't like it at all. She was turned from a fat domestic cook into a pumped-up man-like duck! The image is quite different from the original, which is a little tense when watching the first series. However, most likely, Mrs. Kluvdia can still get used to this.
Ponca was cool, but not very funny. She's a multi-faceted character, but I don't think she and her nephews look very good in contrast. She's so cool, she's smart, she's trying to be funny, and Billy, Willie, Dilly were all blank. But this did not prevent all these characters individually to cause sympathy in the viewer.
The sheer number of monsters in Scrooge's garage makes me very perplexed. On the one hand, it's cool, and this approach can promise us a mountain of adventure and so on. On the other hand, it’s not very interesting in terms of too much happening in the first series, but in a very small place and in a very short time. That is, you do not need to go far for adventures, and the whole problem is solved by clicking your fingers.
I like a problem that looks like a midlife crisis, but it's not like that. There is a moment when Scrooge looks into his reflection and realizes how boring his life is. The whole routine of his everyday life and adventures with his nephews look very contrasting, which could not but rejoice. Everything is explained very clearly and understandably for children, but it is not said clearly and loudly right in the forehead.
The show was also fun.
It should also be noted that the restart does not seek to cite the original. This is not Beauty and the Beast (2017), where almost everything is copied, here we see the work independently. Scrooge is different, he's a tougher miser here. The characters and the drawing tell us that the series will be different, but the same. So you don’t have to look for millions of references to the original and hundreds of differences and contradictions with the animated series of the 90s.
I hope that all the other characters from the original will appear in the series soon. And before you criticize the animated series, think: "that not everything new is bad!"
Compare Duck Tales 1987 and 2017 It can hardly be called a noble occupation. But you can't do that either. All the same, the authors should have understood that they would attract two completely different audiences: children who do not know who Scrooge McDuck is, and adults for whom this spleen is one of the main symbols of school, or even kindergarten years. Moreover, it is not just to understand that this will happen, but to purposefully wish for such a development of events. Of course, there are franchises that rise from oblivion without regard to their early audience (this, if anything, about Nickelodeon), but here is Disney, which is considered a corporation respecting tradition. It's also a 30th anniversary celebration. So, yes, I'll assume that I wanted to sit for more than one chair.
For me, as a lover of the original animated series, this reboot was completely uninteresting. First, of course, it’s about animation, which has been talked about since the first trailer. It’s not that it’s different from the classic. It is bad for me and without any comparison. On its own. Angular shapes, faded colors, static backgrounds without small details that could catch the eye. Today, this is what most of the animated series from the already mentioned Nickelodeon look like. As you can see, I am completely indifferent to the projects of this channel. Second, the characters. I will not argue that they (actually only nephews and Nightmare) are much more elaborate than before. They have characters, their own habits and traits, even different clothes. But all these characters are nothing but cliches. One is a little more restless, the other a little more sensible. Nightfall is a typical modest girl from the category “in a quiet pool”. But Donald, Scrooge and Zigzack, judging by the first series, absolutely nothing acquired. And from the way they are painted, it seems that even lost. I don’t want to seem like a person who clings to the old just because it came before. That's not at all true. But objectively, take an image of the same Donald from the nineties, and the new Donald. Who of them looks like an interesting character (even if the character is poorly spelled out - as in early cartoons with his participation), and who is a quack card? Third story. What you can see in them new and interesting, I, again, do not understand. The first series, which introduces the characters, not having time to really begin, immediately begins to flirt with mysticism: ghosts, dragons, magic gloves. This is no longer an ordinary city, with duck people going on adventures, and somewhere in faraway cities, can really meet something mythical. It's some magical country. Well, the heroes are selected in the second series, which, in structure, is really similar to the classic duck adventure. But no, it's boring, at least crack it. I specifically watched a random series of the old animated series - more interesting at times. Maybe I'm nostalgic? Nope. Firstly, I do not like to be nostalgic, and secondly, there are examples of continuations of old cartoons, about which I can safely say that they are better, or at least not worse. But from the positive, I would like to note the rare, but rather funny jokes. - Still a billionaire?), and some moralizing, addressed more to the adult audience (“You should dress according to the job you want”).
Come on, fuck us old men. New Duck Tales, for today's kids, would I show them to my own? Of course, there is nothing wrong with this series. But there are a few "buts." First of all, they must learn English. Or at least learn to read to watch with subtitles. So, how to wait for a decent translation, and the voiceover here is good. In it all the atmosphere, which somehow miraculously managed to convey the doubles of the nineties. Secondly, “of course, yes,” I can say about many other animated series that are absolutely equivalent to replacing this one. There is no advantage to Duck Stories 2017. Replacing ducks with platypus, no one will notice. And most importantly, third, I am convinced that if you allow a child to choose between the new and the old (only without any - "my friends in the nursery say I watch old things") - he will choose the one in which the nephews wear different hats.
I've been waiting a long time for Duck Stories because it's a cartoon of my childhood. I love it! The creators were able to bring the spirit of adventurism of the series, adding a few new elements that only benefited him: it became even more dynamic, and Huey, Louis and Dewey even more mischievous! The changes affected even Uncle Scrooge: here he experiences a kind of blues for the old days and is eager to find new adventures! Incredibly, they even improved the screensaver by replaying the same song in a different manner!
The series, of course, became funnier. Humor somewhere with philosophical overtones. Take, for example, Uncle Scrooge’s phrase on his way to a lost diamond: “The shortest distance between two points is not always straight,” and this is true... especially if their path lies through the den of fearsome sea creatures!
Not without unexpected turns – Donald gets a job and, not only that he immediately begins to miss his pranksters, his new employer is one of our old friends from the previous series.
In general, the beginning of the series intrigued me, and so much so that I dropped all thoughts about sleep and in the middle of the night wrote this review for you!
This opinion is made up by two people. Review of the first comes down to: ' Oh, the old DuckTales drawing was brighter' and carries mentally to those days when the kids just began to appear the first eight-bit consoles, oh, that is, of course, they were called consoles, and on TV for the first time, surpassing the template animation of all the chimen and Lassie, appeared ' Real Ghost Busters' and incomparable ' Duck stories'' People of this generation will never forget the incomparable pleasure of watching the first Disney animated series, but the second reviewer did not catch this era ' fishless' and fully realized as a child that DuckTales - boring. This is a product of its time, it worked with hurrah, there are no complaints about it, but culture does not want (luckily!) to remain in place, and for thirty years of development has presented new requirements for animation. And just the new 'Duck stories' more than meet these requests and, I do not want to guess, but most likely, the bar will raise even higher. It feels that the cartoon is created on the basis of a giant experience, and includes elements of a modern attitude to the animated product: here and self-irony, and poking fun at the inevitable pathos of the adventure epic, and ' Twitter' I would say ' headline' moralizing, too, not without irony, but quite organic and understandable to the modern viewer, both adult and child.
But the most important feature of the modern approach to creating a series is the dynamics. Events, conversations, jokes, familiarity with the universe of the franchise and characters, the development of the plot and hints for the future sequel are so breathtakingly compressed that you literally live these twenty minutes of the series with the characters, switching off from the real world. The material absorbs you, whirling before your eyes. What is the colorfulness and juiciness of the background, when the intensity of passions goes off the scale, and synoptic connections do not have time to transfer information from axons to neurons for that instantaneous period of time, until the scene was replaced by the next?
The series turned out to be ultra-modern, ultra-relevant, and no wonder: screenwriter ' Young Justice League', artist (and in cartoon content it is almost a director) ' Adventure Time' - under this leadership, the franchise will not soon lose the steering wheel, and at least the leak of the story arc can not be afraid. With such people, the script of the whole season should be painted to the smallest detail. And the little things in a hand-drawn product are harder to miss than in a movie. Of course, this is an argument only for those who are configured to view high-quality, ' suitable', so to speak, content. To those who give only a bright rattle to distract the spinograts from getting their faces, then pass by. Perhaps it is only possible that this is why the authors abandoned the blinding palette of colors in favor of a rather dull range, in order to immediately understand to all curious that the story is told here. No pictures are shown, fart sounds are not divulged, do not snuggle down with children, condescending to spreading the rules of etiquette or spelling to them. Here is a work of art, and in a fascinating form, as it should, dissects public institutions. The famously twisted plot allows the authors to talk to teenagers in their own language, with the help of examples of interesting characters revealing the essence of the relationship between relatives and friends, competitors and enemies, colleagues and subordinates, smart and narrow, talents and consumers, teachers and peers, gambling and romantic, loving and hypocritical, real and false.
Looking ahead, I can predict that the DuckTales 2017 version won’t avoid comparisons with Gravity Falls, so I can see how different these products are. Gravity Falls is fundamentally nostalgic to Hirsch and his team for the Eighties, is quite an adult product and tries to imagine what the perfect series of their childhood would look like with modern methods under the gaze of modern eyes. 'Duck Stories' but recognize the undeniable importance of the former legacy in the face of the eponymous series, they worship it, but are a completely independent creative vision of the development of those characters in modern realities. In the metaphor of the attitude of others to the past of Scrooge, you can see how inspired and fascinated the authors of the old series, but make it clear that following the canon now is a dead end route. Chupocabra will be a shaved bear. No, the absolutely correct solution would be to create a completely new world, the scale of possibilities comparable to the present, and not to avoid roughness and sharp angles along the way - to answer all the questions of the audience, because to establish a dialogue with the viewer is the main duty and at the same time the privilege of the work of word and brush. If this is a comedy about family relationships, give us that family. Where are the twins' parents? Where's the old miser's personal life? Give me more information about Zigzag and Kluvdia, after all. Not single adventures - this postulate will not blow this cup, otherwise the quality of the picture will suffer, and the tone of the first series is set very high. So, forward, with old new friends, towards the unknown and mysterious, which is to be found first of all in ourselves, about which Duck Stories & #39; (2017), I hope, will not forget to hint.
