"Meet on clothes" Based on the Hiromi Okubo manga of the same name, the film tells the story of Jonati June, a hardworking girl who never really thinks about her appearance. She does not care about her appearance, because the girl is convinced - it does not matter at all, because contrary to the well-known saying, they always see off to the mind! Until one day, Jonati did not expect a bitter disappointment. Our world is harsh, and the people around us are even ungrateful. June will have to make sure of that. Working in a paper factory, she increasingly began to notice the oblique glances of colleagues, and others constantly shun her. Everyone does not perceive her as a woman, because the girl is constantly lonely, an electronic robot awaits her at home, and hard work does not bring any pleasure.
Changes the case: June is invited to work in a research laboratory, where a new perfume preparation is being developed. What a surprise Jonathan was when she realized her true place in the company of Clairella. In the lab, June meets two other outcasts, and together they begin their own research into fashion trends to finally change and force others to change their minds.
"Meet on Clothes" - a truly comedy entertainment drama in the style of "Tomorrow I take a day off", etc. The behavior of most characters is unnatural, however, as the plot of the film itself. June faints whenever she finds herself in a predicament, she's naive and gullible to the ridiculousness of a 3-year-old. In the company of Clairella, she finally meets her love, but both of them are too shy, but Keichi Sakaki did not immediately like me. Mirea Kiritani has revealed a completely different side in this drama. After the bold and purposeful Hatori from “Am I no longer the main character?” or the assertive and open Misaki in “Here is the one I love” – in the modest and shy Jonati it was impossible to guess this actress. And makeup artists on her image, I must say, worked hard for fame.
Images of Mitsuko Maeda (role Asami Mizukawa) and Seira Sato (actress Buruzon Kimi) only gave the film comicality. This can be said especially about the well-fed Sato, who always tried only to emphasize this defect. All three of them were in the movie. The actresses played so much on the screen that, having played the last scene of the tenth series on the sidewalk at the cafe, even burst into tears. The crew had to calm the actresses for a long time, and the director gave all three flowers. Mirei Kiritani and Buruzon Kimi in an interview on the same day admitted that they are very upset, because the shooting is over and they will not have to meet again tomorrow on this fun project.
Every appearance on the screen Kosuke Suzuki gave a smile in the role of the somewhat unbalanced head of the Kunikid-san department. His character was so comical that his abrupt reincarnation in the final series was not perceived at all when his secret finally became known. Suzuki’s hero will go all the way from the misunderstanding and outright rejection of three rejected workers to feelings of sympathy and mutual help. I was glad to see him on screen again after Nobuyoshi Yamada’s detective drama I Love You, But I Have a Secret. Very different roles.
However, the film did not have high ratings during the broadcast, and I think I understand why. The drama looks like a kind of fairy tale about Cinderella, only the ending is not particularly happy. The main concept of the film does not shine with diversity and some new development of the idea. The course of the script flows from series to series, repeating from one to another. During 10 episodes, three rejected girls conduct 23 (!) studies (2-3 per series), and by the third it becomes boring. In the first series, together with Jonati, Maeda and Sato, we learn how to properly apply makeup, wear hats and scarves, in the second - ladies' handbags and party, the fourth - wear jeans and how to use shampoo ..., the eighth - take selfies and duck lips, the ninth - go shopping and wear yukats (what is the traditional Japanese ribbon without yukata?). But you probably understand. “Meet on clothes” is a true ladies’ movie, and, most likely, it will appeal only to naive girls or those who love such films.
Events begin to develop only by the sixth episode, when June is admitted to the hospital, and her relationship with Keichi Sakaki is somewhat clarified. Then there are misunderstandings and jealousy, spy passions with leakage of official information and envy of others. And yet this does not bring any noticeable variety to the plot. The main topic is still the research of fashion trends, which sometimes amaze with their stupidity. Why, for example, do a whole study of how to wear umbrellas or casual clothes, learn how to make duck sponges or remove hair? Or do I just not understand something?
Only two episodes are available in the Russian voiceover, and something makes me doubt that the drama will be voiced in its entirety. But the film is easily available with English subtitles. It was in this version that I watched “Meet on Clothes”. Below in the comments will be a link where you can watch this drama. In any case, pleasant viewing.
