Hunt's first steps On "KinoPoisk" short film by Alexander Hunt (at the time of creation - Evseev) "Peter, Petersburg!" appears debut. Alexander took a job at the St. Petersburg University (now the Institute) of Cinema and Television, where he studied as a cinematographer: VGIK was a prospect of the foreseeable future, Vitka Chernok had not yet taken Lekh Shtyr to the disabled house, and the guys from the Interseason went under the table on foot.
A pen sample, a city postcard, a portrait of the “Northern capital”, a video poetic documentary essay – you can call what you see, but the meaning of this will not change. The author tried to express the feeling of the city through its inhabitants, statues, streets, cars and beaches, mixing everything in one black and white pile and flavoring a motley musical range. The language of the film is both ironic and lyrical. Visual and editing techniques help not to get bored: here everything moves smoothly, but gains speed, but again smoothly - as if there is a constant attempt to feel the rhythm of life of the inhabitants of this territory, get under its skin, fix and very modest way to sing.
It turned out to be something that has a special appeal mainly for those who love Peter too much (and not paraded), or for those who even more like to look at the very beginning of someone’s career as a director. Funny, sweet, but not much different from most others, a declaration of love for St. Petersburg.
