That's the gold digger. As a child, I read books by the English writer Enid Blyton. Children from her stories searched for treasures, neutralized smugglers, climbed caves, etc. And when they started making the Five Friends series, I really enjoyed watching all the parts. When I came across Grandpa’s Treasure, I expected to see something similar – but I broke down.
About the film:
Jack and his mother move to a small town in the house of Jack’s recently deceased grandfather. Together with his new friends, he discovers a sealed chest in the basement with a message from his grandfather. Grandpa hid treasure somewhere and left clues. But the treasure is also hunted by a couple of criminals.
Well, there's still a kid movie to look for. In the film, all sorts of blunders come out again and again. Then in the closed long ago theater not a speck of dust was found, and the light somehow works there. Then the criminals somehow broke into an antique store, although the lock hung on the door. And a lot of other inconsistencies. Of course, I understand that the film is designed for a children's audience, but not to the same degree to shook!
Grandpa's clues are so primitive that I wanted to laugh. What is an envelope just lying on a chair in the gym of a closed school? The filmmakers clearly did not think about the adventure component. Treasure-hunting movies need riddles, there was nothing.
As far as the cast is concerned, it’s just horror. What these two bandits did is inexplicable. Just a couple of idiots. They're crazy, they're crazy. Remembering perhaps the most famous couple of villains from a children's film, the couple from Home Alone. Marv was a bit dumb there, too, but it was all fun and fun. Everything here is stupid and not funny at all. Their mommy's just as short-sighted. I have not met any familiar faces from the cast.
Director Tim Brown previously shot only a couple of horror films, but something does not want to get acquainted with his work after this film.
Only the dog Skipper smiled at the film. The dog’s thoughts are really funny. But it didn't save the whole picture.
In the end, we have a boring movie about a boring treasure hunt with stupid bandits. My advice is that adults do not watch, and it is better to remove your children from the screens.
