After watching, there are so many different opinions, questions that do not often appear after full-length films.
The film touches on such an important stage in the life of each of us - childhood. The period when principles, character, sense of responsibility are formed. To form all this should help parents, as it was said in the slogan - an example.
I probably didn’t say half of what was said. After watching, it is still difficult to put all the thoughts together. Thank you to the director and actors for in my opinion a very useful and accurate work primarily for parents!
I see no point in talking about the disadvantages at all, since the film left only pleasant impressions, the very idea of the film was conveyed to the viewer more than exactly, and this is the most important thing!
Unfortunately, the film is not online, but if you have the opportunity to go to see it – definitely! Especially parents!
If a short meter is a film story or a film essay, then Childhud rather managed to reveal the topic and cross the line of essay and story. Even a few extra scenes could already be extremely redundant for this movie. I venture to say that there are already surpluses in it, without which the director could not only do without losing meaning, but also for the sake of preserving the “intimacy” of the atmosphere of communication between two teenagers on the wasteland.
On this wasteland, the same winds blow as those of Zvyagintsev in Exile: winds that both emphasize the chamber nature of what is happening and expand its internal content. But the winds in “Childhoud” in the literal sense and did not work out: the picture goes against the sound – when the wasteland powerful winds, the voices of its inhabitants sound absolutely specific, but the sound engineer, it seems, failed to recreate them. The winds are completely wiped from the soundtrack, which, of course, affects the perception of this short film: if the film is designed to use a much larger number of receptors than, for example, books, then the ear of Childhood is quite flat.
However, neither the play of actors nor the directorial processing of the text can be called flat. The director, it seems, even managed to smooth out some contradictions with the picture and production - for example, in the fact that the dialogues somewhat do not correspond to the appearance of decently dressed children of puberty. They do not correspond either by social status, read by clothing and “innocence” of persons, or by age.
The story itself for some reason also resembles another Zvyagintsev film – “Return”. Probably the notorious teenage theme, the theme of growing up, relationships with adults (in Childhood they are present only in the form of voices and a lifeless body).

A movie that needs to be watched without any distractions. Full concentration. And this is done easily, thanks to the quality approach of the director to the picture. After all, a quality film is a set of indicators, angles, color, focus, sound, etc. Maximum immersion to the impression of his own presence next to the heroes.
Atmospheric, emotionally strong film makes the plot. And it is the plot in the complex that makes this film great. I think the theme of this film has always been relevant, but few people think about it, let alone discuss it. The story revolves around two guys, one of whom is clearly older than the other. The elder teaches the younger, by showing his example or his parents. A person is dependent on environmental factors, in this case, society. Who is our authority, to whom and to whom we give our priorities. The search for such is primarily in the parents, and if they do not give the child such, children are trying to fill their need, looking for others. In this case, the little hero of the film gives these qualities not so good older hero. We do not know who will meet children on the way, who will give them a boost in development in one direction or another. Moreover, the outcome of these actions cannot be predicted. What was the fear of the elder from the unforeseen serious actions of his student? People often break the rules by setting a bad example. No one thinks that this example, and perhaps even this situation can become fatal not only for others, but also for yourself. Smoking, alcohol, treatment and respect for others, actions, all this is clearly expressed in the film. The result of actions that are given by adult parents. And this result is shown at the end of the film, which permeates the painful situation.
A great picture that should be seen by different segments of society. Staging, color, penetrating atmospheric sound, focus, conveying the emotions of actors at height.
The film turned out to be high-quality, and it happened, first of all, thanks to the director - Dmitry Kononov. Despite concerns and concerns about the acting abilities of young talents Evgeny Pervukhin, Egor Budnik and Daniil Polyakov, the guys coped well with the task and looked very organic on the screen. The picture made me think and experience a certain range of emotions, which means that the goal was achieved, with which I want all the creators of the film. The film is rich in complex moments that are difficult to understand from the viewer’s point of view, it is riddled with life parallels and psychological pressure. Of course, if you judge the film strictly, you can find some shortcomings, but I do not want to do this, because the film left a pleasant feeling.
I think that this film is a good work of art, showing important social problems, which I think were a lot of us.

In me, the film from the very beginning caused a lot of difficult feelings, questions and memories. In the beginning, I thought of two classmates who were seriously injured playing dangerous games. Then the plot captured me and I was able to understand my feelings after the film. Children are much easier to provoke, especially older friends. Especially if the child has an incomplete or dysfunctional family. He wants recognition and approval. Accept yourself, feel your importance. And if he doesn't get it at home, he's looking outside.
Under the influence of the older boy, the lesser performs actions that he would never have thought of himself, but the situation gets out of control. And even the older one can not influence her and fix anything.
And what will happen to them after that? I ask myself a lot of questions.
How to teach your children to think for themselves and not to be influenced by others? What determines the limit in relation to another person that cannot be crossed? Every day I explain to them the value, and most importantly, the fragility of human life, in order to shape that very thing. How to make them feel as much as possible that they are loved and desired, so that you do not need to get this feeling on the side?

Well, let's start by saying I liked the poster, the gloomy, angry kids. Well, already printed posters for the photo zone at the premiere of the film, half of each of the boys is also humming. There is already interest in viewing.
Now for the movie itself. To begin with, I liked the color correction, such grayish, slightly faded colors, convey the main emotion of the film and set the atmosphere. It looks really cool.
General plans. Here I was a little confused by the sharp turns of the camera behind the movements of the actors. But this is only in the initial shots with the boys. About acting. I sometimes thought (again mostly in the woods) whether I believed the actors or not. From my point of view, the guys were not able to fully enter the image of those yard boys (This applies more to the older actor Yegor Budnik, because of his role to “teach the lives” of the younger Evgeny Pervukhin). But the guys are from prosperous families, and they have little life experience. But I have no doubt that they tried their best and gave their best, for which special thanks to the director Dmitry Kononov.
I really liked one of the last sunset shots, like a general plan, but it's really cool. I would also like to note the sometimes growing hum, this is a huge plus in the treasury of atmosphericity.
To sum up: an angry, cruel and atmospheric film that shows what leads to improper upbringing, and perhaps, in fact, its absence. It does not justify the main characters. A film with an open end, which has already shown the result, of this very education without solutions. Perhaps this is good, the viewer was not given a decision on a platter, everyone thinks it himself.
