Schwarzer's long but not the best film The early years of cinema were short because of the lack of film. Timekeeping of six or seven minutes was already considered a rarity, although at the time of 1910 there were already longer tapes.
Like many of Austria’s early films, this one is erotic, and if you think it was directed by Johan Schwarzer, you’re not wrong. This director’s films successfully combine frank and funny scenes, but with Family Doctor, all this is not fully disclosed. The plot of the intimate interaction of the doctor and the patient is as old as the "go to friends", and all the more surprising that the experienced Schwarzer showed us nothing special. Either the inspiration from the creator disappeared, or the actors were capricious, but only the result turned out to be very boring. The sluggishness of dialogue is felt even in the complete absence of sound, and if the Family Doctor was created with subtitles, they would not improve the situation. Even more disappointingly, this time the scenes were unstoppable. They are few and they are not so beautiful.
The scenery director clearly used the same as when shooting "Funny story with a window", only deployed them by the other side. And it is funny that someone from the film crew stood all the final scene outside the windows, noticeably shining through the gap. Maybe it's an actress playing a maid? Anyway, in 1910, hardly anyone paid attention to such details. The audience has not yet had time to get used to such a new art form as cinema.
Not the best film of Schwarzer, although it also turned out in his characteristic manner.
