Bank employees in motivational training are made to be friendly and smiley, but Kyung-min is not one of them. Having high performance at work, the girl is not good at the so-called work with negativity, when annoyed customers dig into every word. Like an innocent, frightened mouse, the girl tries to improve her performance by a little trickery, but with one irritated, principled client, such a number does not pass. The situation is aggravated by the fact that in the apartment building where Kyung-min lives, a girl disappears without a trace in her entrance. Kyung-min notices the oddities associated with her door lock. Then she begins to think that there is someone else in the apartment.
Door Castle is a very sad movie. Sadly for the motives of a maniac hunting girls. It's sad how the system handled Kyung-min. Sadly from the ruined fate of the girls killed in a brutal way. Sad melodic music is even more pressing on the feelings, besides the film is shot in muted tones. There is an atmosphere of despair and despair in the air. No one can help Kyung-min cope with her life problems, overcome circumstances and hardships of life, let alone protect herself from a maniac.
The film perfectly conveys the game of cat and mouse with a maniac. The main character does not seem to be an elusive ninja capable of fooling a wise psychopath. Kyung-min tries his best, but in the end you have to literally “teeth and claws” to gnaw your way to freedom.
The main advantage of the film is the realism of everything that happens, which indicates high directorial work. You empathize with the main character and her friend, even the maniac here is essentially an unhappy person, crushed by the system (which, of course, does not justify him in any way). The film is very specific with a truly unique atmosphere and after watching it becomes a little sad.
9 out of 10
You come home to an empty apartment after a hard day at work, do household chores, and then go to sleep. What if there’s something under your bed all the time? How long have you been looking under your bed?
There are a lot of strange things happening to a Korean girl. Why does she wake up every morning with dizziness? Why does it feel like someone is breaking into an apartment without her knowledge? What about her doorbell? Who is this arrogant person who makes a scandal at her job?
The plot of the film is quite simple, there are no special effects. The picture looks realistic. The image of the heroine is close to anyone watching. She's an ordinary girl. Perhaps due to this, it is possible to quickly identify with her, which means to feel everything that the heroine feels throughout the film - fear and hopelessness.
But, each barrel of honey must have its own spoonful of tar. Agreed? It's in this movie.
Some moments seem too stupid and ill-conceived. Although, what movie does without our eternal: "But I would be in his place." To pick on further without spoilers will not work, so it is time to sum up. A movie can tickle nerves. In the collection of your favorite films, most likely, will not get, but the evening will brighten up and phobia will add.
A proverb about a dull employee of the bank, Kyung-min, who, along with her phobia of persecution, settled in a modest apartment. Every morning, the girl wakes up with a slight dizziness, and one night she notices that her door lock is like someone opens, actively telephoning a pen. But the police do not believe Kyung-min, citing the fact that she played her imagination in the absence of a man. And later at work there is an unpleasant incident when a bank client in an aggressive form began to roll up to the girl, than caught up in her life even more paranoia and suspicion. . .
The film is a remake of the Spanish film “Strong Sleep”, but in a more free presentation. The picture skips the original in dynamics, and in general took as a basis only a general idea, while maintaining a gloomy and disturbing atmosphere.
The tape directly touches on the theme of male chauvinism, especially in the actions of the police in relation to the requests for help of the main character. How many such complaints are ignored or not taken seriously? This acute social problem, which sometimes gives rise to terrible and tragic consequences.
The plot is interesting, with detective splashes and suggests an unexpected outcome in terms of exposing a sebaceous maniac. Acting at a good level, but the main character can sometimes cause a fit of rabies with his stupid behavior, but again, none of us can be sure how he would behave in a similar situation: frozen in place, or desperately rushed into battle with the villain.
Moral: You can hit the front door with a dozen locks, but do not forget that it is the rural Spingale that can save you from the penetration of a sneaky canal into your home.
In the end, a thriller, frightening how his story is close to reality.
Here the Koreans that in the South, in the muviki never sucks one familiar theme of mankind. There is always a raging series of painful, vital and socially significant problems that are far-fetched to call difficult. Right, folks? This time in the film with an uncomplicated name, close attention is paid to women who themselves tease men, and then give a turn-turn. Like, it would be necessary to punish females for such "Hunger games" & #39; after which the man is guilty, of course.
Okay, not that, of course. All in the spirit of the legendary 'The Persecutor' which does not mean that 'The Door Lock' now equal to the creation of Na Hong-jin. Everything is softer, gentler, more diligent. The main protagonist is an unsightly girl of old age, the ultraviolence of the cat cried, the so-called sex on a square frame can not be seen. And yet it is interesting to follow the history, if not to build inflated castles. Turned it on, looked at it, and exhaled. The second time is unlikely to pull to find out, so who was the killer there of the year.
According to all the available canons of the detective, the audience will want to be confused in guesses about the stalker: is it offended to death on a woman inadequate with excessively inflated dignity or a completely incomprehensible maniac from a neighboring town who fell into a new territory with a light? Without unnecessary plot delights, the audience will be presented with such a rage against that the machine. Memorable scenes, however, not enough, but there was one slow-mo, when the main character wanted to save her girlfriend, but it was late... In general, at your own risk.
The film industry of South Korea does not cease to supply the world community with high-quality goods that can be compared with other Colombian goods. Scandals do not suit, rely on their own strength, masterfully mix different genres. While modern Russian and Kazakhstani kinzo work together to break deeper into the bottom by any means, the birthplace of Park Ji-sung and An Joon Hwan easily indulges film fans with brilliant mainstream art projects. Forgot who became the king of the last 'Oscar'? Same thing.
Pros. In the story, the picture is quite rich and difficult. Here is intertwined thriller maniac filling and detective, which even individually can cheer up the imagination. Unfortunately, the false trace in the plot is laid so that it is quite quickly guessed; however, it is implemented quite thoughtfully, and plays an independent bright chord in the overall melody.
As an action thriller, the film is quite complete and holistic. I can't get caught up in the story.
The picture is very fresh and many useful technologies from the everyday life of a modern person are involved in the arsenal: cell phones, instant messengers, computers, hidden video surveillance, code and electronic locks, etc. Everything looks very harmonious, and devoid of pathos in comparison with any snobbish stories about spy passions.
In part, the film touches on the theme of human loneliness in today’s high-tech society, and at the same time shows how pleasant it is in such a world to have a selfless good friend who is willing to often be near and even risk his life for the sake of his neighbor. From the point of view of the possible escalation of passions for the thriller, this side of the picture did not allow to further raise the degree of tension. But this is also not bad, because the film turned out quite “humanized”.
Cons. The most acute moments of the picture from the point of view of the production were not worked out at full power, as a result, the film simply did not receive the degree of tension put to it in fact. This refers primarily to the scenes of the heroine’s close contact with a potentially deadly danger, where she often behaved quite loosely. The feeling of sticky fear placed in such moments was not transmitted to the viewer.
Special. Due to the national characteristics of the faces of Korean actors, it is difficult to know whether they are experiencing emotions and what is reflected in their gaze. Often it seems that the character is very cold and indifferent, and in sharp moments it is very confusing when it comes to a frightened, surprised or angry person. The smile is visible immediately, and the poker face interferes with normal perception. Whether for this reason, or because there was a low acting skills, I did not like the acting, because in many moments because of these features, the picture was very lacking in emotionality. If you imagine yourself in the place of the heroine, then, perhaps, it would be possible for fear to get dirty, but she often behaved rather desperately and boldly, and sometimes insanely indiscreetly. Unfortunately, this did not add urgency, but on the contrary, reduced the possible intensity of passions. I thought so.
Conclusion. A good Korean thriller about the life of maniacs in the stone jungle. I can recommend it.
Here it begins - knocking on the door, knocking on the door. . .
What only pictures have not been shot about maniacs in the history of cinema, including in South Korea, their considerable number. And they're doing really well for the most part. But the Koreans do not stop there and try to come up with something relatively new in the old topic. For which I can only praise them.
Recently I saw a fresh, seemingly banal story about a girl who is pursued by someone with an incomprehensible purpose. Maybe she's dreaming of it all. The last conclusion can be reached by getting acquainted with the main character. Before us appears too kind, defenseless, cowardly, insecure person, with an increased level of anxiety and almost paranoid behavior. I had the idea a couple of times that she was mentally ill. Maybe it’s all because of her sick imagination?
But here comes one of the drawbacks of the film. It gives the viewer about in the middle to understand what is what. I would like to point out a more obvious disadvantage: its predictability. The character of the main villain can be easily guessed in the middle. And the more prescient will be able to guess even earlier, maybe even in the beginning. When you can guess the villain long before the movie reveals his identity, that’s not a good thing. Another big drawback is the very suspense that the whole film is criminally lacking, and that is what the thriller should take. As well as some scenario assumptions that not all viewers will be able to accept.
The film has merits, episodes it is very interesting to watch. The main character at the very end was still able to gather, cope with her fear and move on to active action. As sung in one song: 'The will to live drives death and fear'. But the advantages of the tape are not enough to stand in one row with the best representatives of the genre of their country, such as ' The Persecutor' or ' I saw the devil' even as fresh'Bandit, cop, devil' it would be better.
A film about a young woman working in a bank. She is very pedantic, and every thing in her apartment stands in a certain place, and not otherwise. And one day she notices that something is wrong. Some thing is shifted, then the toilet lid is thrown away. And her life is filled with fear. The film is shot according to all the laws of the thriller genre, in the Hollywood style, when the killer is already half-dead all trying to finish his villainy. I always think it's too much. Maybe they're killers. But we must pay tribute to the creators of the film, tension and uncertainty accompany the viewer to the end.
The atmosphere of the film, although quite mysterious, but extremely depressing, which at some point almost begins to spoil everything. It’s as if all this gloom is hinting at the film being violent and heavy. That's how it happened. The events are terrible and terrible, I do not want my surroundings, my people, whom I constantly see and know, to turn out to be some scum with maniac tendencies. Such a beast should have no place in our land.
There is a lot of calm and gray tones and this slightly spoils everything! About gray tones and calmness is figuratively expressed. Koreans just peeked at Hollywood a little bit, and they better not. Instead of their inherent drive and dramatic component, it turned out to be a little different from what we usually expect. Although the effect of the film still turned out to be creditable. Of course, the storyline is about a crime, but not about a robbery, and not even about a murder, which of course I will not reveal the main essence of the storyline, let it be more mysterious and you will be interested to watch. I do not deny that I liked the film, even very much, it has tension and unpredictability in its repertoire, which looks with interest, and therefore you expect something intriguing and not repeating other films of South Korean cinema.
As for the cast, I liked the actors, as well as the main character of the film, which showed itself well in the roles, especially from the psychological side. In general, the roles of the actors were successful, all were able to give the film a special sharpness and tension, from which the nerve itself is naughty, while tensely waiting for a denouement and an unpredictable finale.
The film is incredibly atmospheric, it was really very tense and creepy. After a little confused and sluggish introduction, a real heat went and I just watched most of the film in one breath. Regarding the personality of the maniac, the guess appeared quite quickly, there was not much fog, but despite this, the film is still very exciting and incredibly interesting. The effect after viewing gave as if a charge of electricity, from the events almost the hair stood on end. Koreans, of course, know how to make atmospheric movies, and I try not to miss their films, which can be called cinema. From their films simply blows truthfulness and interest. They make movies not for the sake of money or PR of this or that actor, they literally live their roles. This film is no exception, I really enjoyed the film, putting out my eyes, watching the actions of the main character, and in some moments held my breath, afraid to miss the moment when the leap would occur. The degree of heat grew with every ten minutes, it is difficult to assume a new move as a heroine, and especially a maniac. A great movie, for which the brain works continuously, and the body simply radiates positive, but at the same time gloomy impulses.
I highly recommend it! Fans of Asian cinema should definitely watch this thriller, and lovers of maniac thrillers too. Plus, it’s more Hollywood-like than Korean-style, I can’t even tell if it’s good or bad. A pleasant fascinating tape that raised the level of adrenaline in the blood and gave a lot of various emotions.
"Door Castle" - an intriguing South Korean thriller will appeal to all fans of the action-packed movie about maniacs. In the film, you will find a police investigation, torture, blood, and impending fear. In the story, an ordinary employee of an insurance company once becomes the object of persecution by a mysterious man who repeatedly sneaks into her apartment at night. The girl senses something wrong and tries to find out all the circumstances, but after a while she learns that her neighbor from another floor also at one time was persecuted, which eventually ended in her disappearance.
Immediately it is worth noting, the story narrative is quite rich and with a lot of riddles, but, unfortunately, with the final part, the authors did a little work over their sleeves. The film is completely predictable, although this is not usually typical of South Korean thrillers. But in any case, the story turned out strong, frightening and atmospheric.
The film was directed by a little-known for the domestic audience Lee Gwon, who was responsible for the popular series “Shut up and play” at the time. The new project, of course, does not stand out from most average thrillers, but this story due to a certain feature in terms of visual presentation still looks more attractive than others. Horrifying scenes of violence do not fall into the frame, but the operator manages to keep the frightening atmosphere of everything that is happening, focusing the camera’s attention on the views of certain characters.
And yet, despite some claims to the plot, the picture definitely deserves the audience’s attention. There will be no regrets about watching. Within the genre, it looks great. I recommend it to all fans of South Korean thrillers. Enjoy your visit.
