The weekend is off plan. Sometimes it is very interesting to watch a non-commercial movie made for a little money. It’s like a lottery, you can guess it or you can’t. “Mean Weekend” left me with ambiguous impressions: on the one hand, an easy ironic comedy and a quest with a swing almost to a thriller, on the other hand, a clearly minimal budget.
The story. Leaving his wife with a small child, the main character rushed to meet his mistress under the motto “I am urgent on a business trip.” But on the way, the car breaks down, the phone sits down and now the hero is waiting for a kind of quest “on farm villages in the UK”, where payment cards are not accepted, everyone knows each other, and theft of bicycles is not welcome.
What is good about a movie is constant action. The main character is almost all the time in motion facing a new world unfamiliar to him, which is not always happy to see him. At the same time, the collision of a typical urban dweller with the world that is outside the city limits can cause nothing but a smile. The ending of the film is quite logical and is the apotheosis of everything that happens. .
