To all who love trains and holidays According to the author of the book, which is based on the film, it is dedicated to “all who love trains and holidays”. And indeed the action is saturated with the atmosphere of celebration and travel by train. The film has a simple plot, sometimes predictable, but not without some intrigue. The main character journalist Langdon at Christmas goes on a long-distance train and becomes a direct participant not only in the pre-Christmas fuss, but also in other festive events arranged by his fellow travelers. Christmas is a time of miracles and rebirth of feelings. And, of course, the hero will meet his love.
The film's actors are well-chosen. With the exception of perhaps one character, they look like the characters in the original book. A couple of characters from the book are not in the film at all, and the stories of the characters have been slightly changed, but this does not change things. What changes is that the plot of the book in the film is trimmed. On the one hand, unnecessary and sometimes absurd details were removed from the film, on the other hand, significant details were removed. Perhaps the emphasis was placed on the two main characters - a man and a woman, but they were deprived of adventure. What happened to the train at the end is not as frightening as the book shows. And the characters at the end of the book had to snort danger, and they were just walking in the woods. Because of this, an important step in the hero’s personal life is not so consistently and logically presented, and the story itself, which happened to him, is less exciting. If you want to watch something new, the film will do. But there are not so many deep meanings here.
