Mother's daughters or premonitions "Mom, what's going on here?"
The French, respected director Julie Bertuccelli, in whom I personally single out the drama Since Otar left, recently again shoots another dramatic story. Before our attention, the film adaptation of the novel La dernière folie de Claire Darling.
A specific film attracts the attention of the world community because of the acting duet of mother and daughter - Catherine Deneuve and Chiara Mastroianni. In fact, they do not play together as often as they could, so this, French cinema becomes curious and at first glance special.
Meet Claire Darlene. She mystically anticipates her imminent death and decides to sell all the antiques in her huge house. Darlene is having an unheard-of sale in the yard of her house, where she took out all the expensive things. Customers begin to fight for them, and with each object sold, heavy memories of the main character go into the past. There was once a tragedy in her life, and it is very painful to remember her, but Claire Darlene has a daughter, and the woman quickly comes to her mother, amazed at the madness that is happening here. . .
"I'm going to die tonight."
The movie turned out to be such a mysterious narrative in a hypnotic atmosphere, as if there was even some mysticism. The film is divided into the present and the past, and the viewer plunges into a difficult, family history with their skeletons in the closet. What surprised me about this movie was the ending. The film itself is a bit tedious, and it lacked something lively. Actresses did their job, but the direction and setting in the film limps.
Deneuve always plays well and you can’t get away from it. The eccentric roles of complex, at first glance incomprehensible women are given to her well. The whole film is trying to unravel the heroine Catherine Deneuve, to figure out what is happening here.
As for Chiara, she was even more pleased: such a clean and soulful game. So much emotion, candor and something profound about revealing her character feels good. Mastroianni, just bravo.
Watch the evolution of her acting since the 1993 drama film Favorite Time of the Year, in which she debuted. After so many years, Chiara played in many films, and most often the viewer remembers the picture “Beloved” in 2011 (in which, by the way, also together with Deneuve played). Personally, I love the cartoon with her voiceover “Persipolis”.
The above I say that in this new picture, Chiara Mastroianni’s play was very pleased, the high level of play is felt by every cell of the body, and this is beautiful.
Claire Darlene's Last Madness is a 2018 French drama. The movie is about how the painful past often kills us from the inside out, and we need to live in the present. He who lives in the present is truly intelligent and happy. The picture is soulful and painful, sad and depressing. I see it from a neutral perspective. Thank you very much.
