Free! The search for a light French movie on Friday night led me through Audrey Thoth to The Tender Hand of the Law. Just one positive review was for me confirmation of how good this film was.
How can you take the subject of police, sadomasochism, jewelry robbery, prostitution, corruption, and put it all in one movie about love, without the vulgarity and black humor? Here's a good example. After Yvonne accidentally learns the truth about her late husband, events unfold rapidly. There will be a bitten ear (and not one), and latex costumes, and fairy tales for the son at night, and an amusement park, and a jump in cold water, and a fire in the restaurant! The professionalism of the film crew and actors made it possible to avoid inflection in the direction of unimaginable nonsense and preserve the interest of the viewer throughout the film. At the most necessary moments, the heroes stop and confess their love, take the hand, give kisses.
The original title of the film "En liberté!" translates as "On the loose!", but here it does not matter. Despite the seriousness of the topics raised, the film looks easy and imbued with love of life. As the French are able to show love for life in the most critical moments, I do not mind. Perhaps it is something natural, characteristic of the nation. I am specifically looking for French films that are unpopular in Russia, which charge with this love, despite all the absurdity of what is happening around.
