We're out of kerosene After the sharpest "Sleepers", which turned the hornet nest even on this side of the frame, the news of the second season aroused very keen interest. However, enthusiasm diminished when it turned out that the director would not be Yuri Bykov (apparently, did not recover after that monstrous obstruction). In general, the continuation of “Sleepers” I met only with restrained optimism, and therefore was not disappointed.
Hand on heart, there is no obvious reason for disappointment. Almost all actors play decently, there is dynamics, some tension. Even the topicality with terrorists and illegal schemes with oil, which kind of should make the plot relevant. And yet it doesn't hold up.
There are two main problems.
First of all, a slurred plot. Apparently, they wanted to show how the characters unravel the puzzle of illegal schemes, and as a result, the puzzle and the characters exist as if in different worlds and do not know about each other’s existence. There is no intrigue - no event causes a desire to find out what happened, who arranged it and why.
Second, ridiculous timing. Many characters, few series. In the end, we get a kaleidoscope, in which not a single image is revealed - there was just not enough time. And how interesting were the relations and at the same time the conflict of the heroes of Pektrenko and Rogozhkina, people from different worlds.
All this leaves a taste of complete secondary, which can not get rid of. It seems that they gave the task to remove the sequel, but gave it to the reserve coach (i.e., the director), who either did not want to shoot, or it was scary (or they will be sworn like Bykov). That was a bit of a mess.
However, it is not so bad, you can see it once. The saddest thing is that there isn’t the poignancy that made the first Sleepers special, and without it, we just got another spy show.
