What’s that really going on??? Good day, dear friends! On June 9, 2019, NTV presented its next film premiere, a mini-series consisting of 4 episodes, timed to coincide with the Yugoslav events of 20 years ago (bombing Americans, and another round of civil war between Albanians and Serbs). I was attracted to watching the film primarily by participation in the main roles of Maxim Shchegolev and Dmitry Ulyanov – both actors are charismatic and quite talented, but here even their participation did not save it ... I don’t even know what to call what I watched! I examined this creation for three days for thirty minutes exclusively on moral and volitional, and in the hope that at least the finale will be clear. But no. Directed by Alexey Bystritsky.
The first claim: why did they decide to name the film Battalion? By 2019, there were a lot of films with this name divorced, for me, the cult in this regard is “Battalion” of the 2015 release of director Dmitry Meskhiev. What does this film have to do with the battalion? I watched this creation to the end and could not understand it. Is this about the rescue battalion that was supposed to come to reinforce our heroes? And he did come, only in the very last seconds of the film. I think this title is just speculation on more large-scale and successful films with the same name!
Now a little bit about the movie itself... The film is not heavy, rather fun, despite the seemingly serious topic. But how much pathos?! Loud phrases that have nothing to do with this... Well, we like to harness ourselves and solve other people's problems of neighbors, what can you do here, we don't have enough of our own, and even die for it. They mixed everything they could, and the Albanians and the Roma are bastards. Even a little love line is between our scout Andrei named Tourist (Maxim Shchegolev) and the daughter of the leader of the gang of Albanians Venus (Polina Yastrebova), but the line is so stupid, hooked for some reason and unappealing that does not cause any emotions at all! I can still believe that the girl, who was all the time under the harsh oppression of her father, could fall in love with the charismatic, noble (even too!) hero who saved her from the gypsies (they are still creatures and drug dealers here), but on the part of the main character I did not see any special feelings for the girl, except for his innate nobility! Yes, and when they should have arisen, at what stage did the heroes hardly communicate? Anyway, the stupidest and most empty love line I've ever seen in a war movie. And the fiancé Venus so-called (I don’t remember his name) the whole movie was waiting for someone to kill him! The father had at least some share of nobility, and this animal in general!
Next... a gypsy girl who literally attacked our soldier with her love for the whole film... listen, don’t let gypsy girls behave so persistently and loosely! Gypsies, whatever you want to call them, but they're not whores, but that's what I wanted to call this kid! Oh, man, she's really undressed, and just wink a guy at her, right there in the field, she'd give herself to him! It's a thrash! Such a girl has only to neutralize ... or sleep already to fall behind! Yes, only one trouble, she is a minor, but something tells me that the guy will not be imprisoned for this.
The highlight for all 4 episodes there is only one - hand-to-hand battle on a minefield - dangerously so looked. But the story is based on real events, and it was revealed simply disgusting, it is unclear who is fighting with whom and for what!
To sum up, I don’t even want to add anything! It's just a failure, I regret watching this movie to the end and wasting my time. A fairy tale, but also stupid and pathetic! He will not save anyone, even though he tried. I don't recommend watching!
Thank you for listening to my review!
