She sees the good in people. Even when it's not in them.
I recently watched this wonderful Netflix series. You can say that all seasons are full. I wanted something easy, but with meaning, with good acting and humor. The above in “Goodbye Forever” is immediately revealed.
Jen Harding (Christina Applegate) is a powerful and sharp-tongued mother of a family who is going through a difficult period after the tragic death of her husband. While attending group psychological therapy, she meets the humble and friendly Judy Hale (Linda Cardellini) who is struggling to cope with her injuries. The fates of these very different women twist into a tight spiral and unravel it, they risk exposing many skeletons in the closet.
Clinging from the first moment with its atmosphere of sunny and cozy suburbs, where the average family is loved and hated, this project acquires the right philosophy of life for the final. The story of the friendship of two very different women. The closeness of souls, which hardly anyone is lucky to meet. To the mass added drama, notes of humor and a lot of intrigue. Sometimes nerves tickle, sometimes tears. The main characters are painted colorfully. Many plot twists created to develop characters. The same can be said for minor characters.
The acting was encouraging. Especially Christina Applegate. It was clear that the actress lived the heroine. She has a very strong, controversial, interesting personality.
"Goodbye Forever" is like "Big Little Lies," but much more dynamic.

The first season looks especially interesting, but with drama strongly squeezed and twisted unnecessary events overloading the plot. Filmed by women for women.
It's a great tragedy series. A comedy about the difficult life of modern women. I didn’t notice any feminist emphasis at the beginning, although the finale picked up the trend a bit. It's kind of rude. But still the movie is very strong and good. Interesting plot study of psychological images of complex characters. So to speak, women of difficult fate. And you can’t even say that all the happiness and misfortune are in their hands. A kind of behaviorist-humanistic view of human nature. Of course, a huge credit to the success of the series with the writers and naturally with the main characters. Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini played well. In general, the actors are very well selected. And again, even many minor characters have good chips in the role.
In season 1, the heroines meet at a meeting to help those who have lost loved ones. They meet and immediately become strong friends. And their characters are radically different. Jen Harding (Applegate), whose husband was shot to death, works as a broker, rude, cold, straightforward and somewhat cynical. Judy Hale (Cardellini), who also seems to have died her husband, is a slightly out of this world artist, kind, frivolous and prone to mysticism. What unites them is their common misfortune. But then the viewer is told some details that reveal the unexpected background of their acquaintance and plunge the viewers periodically into dissonant states, on the verge of comedy, drama, embarrassment and even some kind of scurvy. But to follow the development of events is very interesting, and the play of actresses gives pleasure. The final of the season is bright and turning the situation again, making a good seed for the next season.
In season 2, the story of ordinary women already loses such intrigue, but it becomes more dynamic and increasingly moves to the side of drama. Periodically there are situations of purely emotional, even to some extent tragic nature. All this is sometimes slightly diluted with a characteristic humor, through the role, but it already seems that more inertia. It is clear that new characters appear, along with which new branches of the sitcom and the sitcom comedy are played out. James Marsden returns, but not as you think. But in general, the plot is still built around the polar characters of the main characters. LGBT people are added to feminism if they care. By the end, what is happening increasingly turns into the genre of tragicomedy. Without black humor, but more dramatic and emotional. In fact, such a pitch is quite rare for a modern American commercial film format. Often not to laugh, but more worried about the heroines themselves. And yet the authors manage to keep some humorous soft component. Merit in this, including, of course, a wonderful game of characters. There are a lot of women’s tears at the end. And some men's. And the final scene itself with a loud wow effect. I hope to continue.
Do you have to be friendly, nice, charming to please people? Can anger and temper drive everyone away? Or will there be an extrovert for each misanthrope?
Jen, who lost her husband, hates the whole world, not only because of the loss, but also because of her character, and does not try to hide emotions, even though she loses customers. This is not good for her career, because a realtor must love people and drive away all doubts from them with his cheerfulness and the spread of positive energy.
Judy is a “chorus girl” who loves to hug everyone, deeply experiencing her emotions, vulnerable, glorious and able to sympathize. She's an empiricist, as opposed to the skeptical and rational Jen. However, they converge, and they form a strong and true friendship, with their ups and downs.
This couple of new girlfriends captivates, they sympathize and empathize with each in their own way.
If you want to plunge into the world of Desperate Housewives, Fires Smolder Everywhere, Why Women Kill, but without excessive drama, you should watch this light and unobtrusive picture.
It is nice to watch in this film of events on the chic American houses, where space and grace are so appreciated by their inhabitants.
Impressively, I did not find, no matter how hard I tried, a “fragrant” character who likes to settle in modern TV series. The actions of each hero here are perfectly justified by direct motives.
The creators of the series did not try to show anyone unnecessary falsehood. That is, the atmosphere of the series disposes to show sometimes absurd, funny, bad situations. You don’t ask, “How is this possible?” because:
(1) The heroine of Christina Applegate meditates, listening to metal at maximum, sobbing and screaming in the car.
(2) Linda Cardellini believes in the power of the stone, because of which all the misfortunes that befell her.
(3) Nine-year-old girl can give advice on how to get rid of a corpse
(4) Ta-dam, orange wine
(5) The man you killed has a twin brother.
And a lot of other things are probably interesting. Look without bigotry and dullness.
Dead to me is a drama series about a woman who lost her husband and father to her children in a car accident. She's trying to move on. He begins to go to a support group and meets a nice woman with a strange sense of humor. Over time, she learns unpleasant details about the life of her husband.
Plot: pleasantly surprising. It’s not just a depressing story like Life After Death, it’s more of a drama with thriller elements. From the very first series, we are thrown intrigue associated with the killer of the husband of the main character. Each episode ends at a sharp moment, which makes it impossible to stop and look further and further. The 10-episode format of the seasons is the ideal format of the series. Not too much, not too little. For such timekeeping, you can spin all the storylines, reveal all the characters. The plot is somewhat reminiscent of the movie “Another Woman” with Cameron Diaz.
Characters: Heartbroken women who move from depression to anger to liberation. The series is more female. Almost all men in it are exposed as scoundrels or worthless.
Actors: All actors perfectly cope with their roles, many of them are template, but this is not the problem of actors.
Intrigue: present. Every hero is guilty of something, there are no innocents. It is a pleasure to watch events unfold.
For the first season, I put a clear 10 out of 10. The second one was a little disappointing. Twin brother? Are you serious? It's like a clone show. I'll charge you a couple of points.
A cheerful and fascinating beginning captured from the first series and remotely recalled 'Why Women Kill' and ' Big Little Lies & #39; Towards the middle, the pleasure of watching was replaced by bewilderment, which at the end of the first season was replaced by WTF and the desire to rename the whole action in ' Why women are so stupid'.
Why do authors hate women so much? I looked at who they were, the authors. It turned out to be women. Women who made a series for women, but could not decide what they want to do: a banter, a detective, a melodrama or a comedy. It didn't work out.
You will find a lot in this series. Strong independent (from common sense and logic) women, black smart detective, white heterosexual scoundrel (other can not, intolerant), drug sales, Judaism and Christianity, problems of childlessness, problems of having children, adultery, anger management, economic crimes and mother-in-law. The pandemic is not covered for some reason.
What you won't find here. Logic in the actions of the characters, adequate behavior, humor and triumphant justice (in the sense in which it is seen by normal adults).
I have a lot of questions for the writers of this nonsense. It makes no sense to list all the inexplicable actions of the characters, they make up the entire series. I will not watch the second season, I got acquainted with the brief content, there things with the script are even sadder. I think in season three, these ladies are going to kill a couple more people, they're going to be scolded and a fourth one is going to be shot.
For a women's paperback novel, the script is quite suitable (only in the spirit of the time, the prince should be replaced by a girlfriend), and for a good series, this is not a script, but a hack.

A man who was jogging late at night was hit on the road. The perpetrator fled the scene. Sounds like a crime news bulletin. And if you add that he had a loving wife and two children, then this story is a tragedy. Dilute the fact that such crimes are almost never solved, and it turns into a fascinating detective. Here we add the wit of the main character, and the series acquires the colors of black comedy. You won't miss me! Each episode gives unexpected twists to the plot. And by the middle of the season, our heroes are not at all in the light that we saw in the beginning.
The main character is obsessed with the idea of finding her husband’s killer. The crime did not get into the camera lens, there are no witnesses, the police are inactive - the probability of solving the case is reduced to zero. At the same time, a woman does not need to forget about children, and they present surprises, and work in which they are not always ready to tolerate fits of anger of the main character. But she turns out to be incredibly purposeful, no plot twists stop her.
In this case, she is helped by a friend who met in the support group, they are going through a difficult period together, hanging on the phone until they fall asleep, watching old shows. From this communication grows friendship. But is it that simple and selfless? Do people actually appear in our lives by chance?
Excellent camera work, beautiful views, a precisely matched soundtrack and an amazing cast.
