A balanced, richly filmed old-school comedy detective. The number of hung guns and "there are turns" is admirable. Everything is done in a good way, with a smooth, enveloping plot. The characters are interesting and well-written, the setting is extremely unusual and washable. The soundtrack perfectly suits the atmosphere of the film.
Many of my friends advised me to watch this tape, citing the fact that it is an interesting detective story with great humor. The presence in the list of two hundred and fifty best films according to Kinopoisk also hinted that the film is worthy. I am very disappointed after seeing it.
It was probably the usual effect of high expectations – too many positive things were said about this film. In fact, I honestly don’t understand why he gets so many applause.
The film is actually not bad, but, in my opinion, passable. I didn’t see anything in him that would be very exciting and interesting. Yes, indeed, the beginning of the plot is quite interesting: a private detective comes to the family, the head of which committed suicide, as he anonymously received a letter asking him to investigate this situation, saying that it is not suicide. The family is crazy about the inheritance situation, everything goes upside down. And the plot begins to twist, turning into a seemingly interesting tangle. But, here the tangle begins to unravel, but unravel so slowly that by the middle of the tape it becomes boring, and the solution turns out to be so stupid, in my opinion, that causes frank disappointment.
In fact, it seemed to me that the creators tried to make a kind of copy of films based on the works of Agatha Christie, only adding a little bit of black humor. In my opinion, it was not very good.
But, there is a positive point – Ana de Armas, who plays one of the main roles, is infinitely cute and cute. I had never seen her on screen before.
There are movies where it is almost clear from the beginning how it will end. You can not even check - you will not miss anything. This movie is not like that.
After celebrating his 85th birthday, he was found with his throat slit. The circumstances look like he did it himself. Naturally, the whole film is under investigation.
What's the big deal? There are so many movies like this.
But this one stands out. After the first third of the film "direct text" showed what happened and how his grandfather died.
The question arises: “What will be shown twice for the same amount?”
How will the main character, who is involved in the death quite indirectly, get out of this situation? - Of course. There is a lot of time for this.
I couldn’t guess how the movie would end. And the ending came as a surprise to me. “A bagel in a bagel,” said the detective leading the investigation.
There is, however, one director's "joint" that I noticed in the moment. And at the end of the film it became clear that this is really a flaw in the script.
I will not open it so as not to spoil the impression of those who did not watch. I don't think many people will notice him. The rest of the movie is cool.
The film begins with a close-up on a mug that reads "My house, my rules, my coffee." The famous writer committed suicide. I don't think there should be any questions. But detectives begin to question all the residents of the house - they are family members and several servants. They are watched by a private detective - who hired him, we will find out as the plot develops.
The film takes place most of the time in the writer’s home. And I thought that would continue. But, at some point, the action will take place on the street and in other establishments. Honestly, it would be more interesting if the action were confined to home. But come on.
I liked that everyone was interrogated, and behind them was an installation of a circle with knives. This is a very interesting idea and attracts attention. During the interrogation, many interesting things are revealed about family members, and about their relations with each other and about their relationship with the deceased.
I couldn’t quite figure out how this would end. And the end surprised me. It was unexpected.
And the film also ends with a close-up of the same circle. But here, we already understand its meaning.
The film is definitely interesting and exciting.
Young nurse Martha and elderly rich author Harlan are on suspiciously good terms: during evening treatments, the girl is left alone with the writer for a long time, as they say, for treatment and play Go. This time, after a family party, everything was the same, but when Martha and the others separated, the author was found dead, slit throat with his own hand. Suspicion falls on a lot of greedy heirs and on the nurse, only she physically can not lie, which will use hired to investigate Benoit Blanc.
I remember that many complained about the lack of an atmosphere of classic English detectives in the fresh adaptations of Agatha Christie’s books from Kenneth Branagh, I will immediately say that in Getting Knives there are no problems with this. The scenery, the music, the costumes are all on top. Colorful characters, a traditional mansion, a confusing business and an unusual Benoit Blanc, who, by the way, does not know who hired him.
This detective (Daniel Craig) is not easy here, it embodies a satirical reference to the classics of the genre, but the satire is not evil, but rather with respect for the genre. Subtle humor goes through the whole narrative in the form of ridiculous situations, characters, even the murdered author wrote detective stories, which is associated with several funny scenes.
Despite the merits above, this is not the main thing here, the murder or death itself, the process of investigation, is at the forefront. It's a double bottom, maybe a triple bottom. There is a chance that the main villain you guess, but then change your mind, and then completely confused, and in the end generally creates a seemingly unambiguous, but controversial question of guilt and ethics.
I definitely recommend to all fans of the genre, which is now slightly in decline and does not appear often. The first film was well rated and I liked it in almost all aspects, the second one is much worse.
Harlan /Christopher Plummer / - a rich elderly detective author, the head of a large family
Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) is a legendary detective hired by an unknown person to investigate the death of Harlan.
Marta (Ana de Armas) – a nurse of Harlan, lives with her sister and mother, who illegally came to the country.
Linda / Jamie Lee Curtis / - Harlan's daughter, the owner of a business that she built herself from scratch
Richard / Don Johnson / Linda's husband, plays second roles next to her
Hugh Ransom (Chris Evans) – Harlan’s grandson, Linda’s son, spoiled slacker
Walt (Michael Shannon) – the youngest son of Harlan, managing the affairs of the publishing house, but in fact nothing decisive.
Johnny / Tony Collett / - widow of the eldest son of Harlan, the owner of a bankrupt cosmetics company
Meg (Katherine Langford) – Harlan’s granddaughter, Johnny’s daughter, grandfather pays for her studies, Martha’s friend
Before us is not quite a classic detective, the events in which have an approximately classical setting and almost a classical denouement. Everything was shot beautifully, brightly, colorfully, dynamically with good musical accompaniment. There are enough unexpected turns and a few funny moments that do not focus on themselves, but rather are some shade in this story, so that the viewer does not strain much when watching and does not break his head in search of the true criminal, and then in worries for this criminal who needs to take away suspicions.
As a result, we have a good good good detective, which can rather be attributed to the genre of ironic detective, but high-quality, rather than what is often published in our book publishing houses. I have nothing more to say without spoilers. I would like to point out that I did not intend to see this picture before five years from now, because you all know that I rarely see what everyone has written about and almost everyone has seen.
The film “Get Knives” is an exciting thriller that surprises and keeps the viewer in suspense from the very beginning to the end. The director has created an intriguing and complex story about a group of friends who find themselves embroiled in a dangerous game. Throughout the film, detectives are trying to unravel the story of suicide, they didn’t believe it was a suicide, they were sure it was a murder, but they were thinking where to find proof of it.
One of the main strengths of the film is the script. It is written with sharp humor and an intelligent approach, which makes it unique and interesting to watch. The plot of the film is full of unexpected turns and mysteries that make the viewer think and analyze what is happening. Each character has its own secrets and motives, which adds complexity and mystery to the story. Each character tries to lie in his own way to hide the true picture of what happened, but at the end of the film all the secret became reality.
The acting in the film also deserves praise. All actors cope with their roles and convey the emotions of their characters. Ana de Armas is one of the main characters, which throughout the film is revealed from different sides. They create compelling and memorable images that make the film even more exciting.
The visual component of the film also does not leave indifferent. The footage is beautifully shot, the lighting and composition create an atmosphere of mystery and tension. Especially impressive are the scenes where the main characters try to solve riddles and reveal the secrets they discover.
Despite all the positives, the movie "Get Knives" has some drawbacks. Some viewers may feel that the plot sometimes becomes too confusing and complex to understand. Also, some characters may seem underdeveloped and superficial.
Overall, Get Knives is a thriller that will captivate the viewer with its complex story and intriguing twists of events. The film raises important questions about friendship, betrayal and morality. It makes you think and analyze what is happening, and also causes emotions and unpredictable reactions. I recommend it to anyone who likes intellectual thrillers and is ready to think about the meaning of what is happening.
I don't think the script is perfect. This is the weakest part of the film.
- The head of the family makes two very specific decisions that seem doubtful for the character of a calculating grandfather who has lived a very successful life, holds all the threads of control in his hands and is not prone to hasty decisions.
- Despite the difficult relationship in the family, still the offspring do not look unscrupulous assholes. The tension between Harlan and his offspring is almost not felt.
Detective Blanc's choice of a voluntary 'Watson' is described by a banal trust that looks extremely stupid. (It could be described as a sober calculation.)
The disease with vomiting is extremely conventional (it would be better if the maid was pregnant from Harlan).
- And the final decision of the police looks very doubtful, because to put not only the main villain, but also on the positive hero should be a couple of articles like driving to suicide, criminal inaction, etc. Because of this, the film is too snotty and not enough sparkling.
Guy Ritchie on the same material would give something more interesting.
I assume that the film was cut quite badly, which does not allow the characters to be fully revealed.
Still, it's not a bad movie. Against the background of a diverse modern superhero slag, it looks almost a masterpiece with a claim to English humor. I did not look without pleasure, and cockroaches were already looking for when writing a review.
P. S.
I will probably revisit it in the original language. (For some reason, I couldn’t find the original English soundtrack on the Kinopoisk.) There is a feeling that part of the charm of the picture is lost with the translation. This often happens with good conversational pictures.
There's nothing better than watching or reading Agatha Christie-style detective stories. I really like these complicated stories, where virtually every hero can be under suspicion. That’s why I wanted to see the movie “Get Knives” by Ryan Johnson, which turned out to be very high-quality.
Everything swirled here during the birthday celebration of the famous detective writer Harlan Thrombi. He is rich and willful, he has a large family and everyone wants his share from the patriarch. And after the celebration, the most terrible thing happens - Harlan dies, and clearly an unnatural death. The police spread their hands and Mr. Blank joins the investigation.
Benoit Blanc is a detective genius. He solves the most complicated cases and will never refuse a new profitable offer. Arriving at the estate of Trombie, Blank immediately takes up business and calls on the carpet every member of the huge family. In a conversation with them, Blanc begins to make up the overall picture of what is happening and you can believe me, it will be something.
I really liked Daniel Craig in the lead role. He was not a typical detective or special agent who never jokes. On the contrary, in this film, Craig does not look like himself. He always jokes, laughs and laughs in the face of those who do not respect him. It's very funny.
The detective turned out to be quite confusing, although I immediately managed to guess who the main villain was. But the key is to show us exactly what caused the death of Harlan Thrombie and what consequences it will bring for everyone.
In Getting Knives, Cuban beauty Ana De Armas, who previously appeared in notable, but not the highest-grossing projects, got a huge role, and Ryan Johnson gave her enough time and attention to prove herself. Here, she plays the nurse who cared for the elderly Thrombie and in many ways it is De Armas’ heroine who becomes the central figure of the entire investigation. So don’t discount her and keep a close eye on her actions, conversations and movements.
The film turned out really good, although there is a hint of predictability in it. I have no doubt that connoisseurs of good detectives will appreciate it.
Movie: dynamic, fun, masterful in almost everything, intriguing, with a rather non-standard role for Craig. In general, a high-quality detective made according to all classical patterns. My respects.
Known to Ryan Johnson (yet) only on "Breaking Bad" and the controversial (to put it mildly) Star Wars Episode 8. So I got here only because behind the film “Get Knives” stretches a plume of enthusiastic comments and reviews. Well, let’s see if it’s all right...
Damn it, yes! The film is really interesting to watch, a funny mixture of comedy and detective, and both components at a good level. It’s like taking the recent “Murder on the Orient Express”, putting Kenneth Branagh in the cold with his narcissism and replacing the freed link with James Bond, letting him watch a couple of episodes of “Sherlock” and allowing him to swear on his mother.
But it's not just Craig and Ana de Armas who are making this film, all the acting here is on top. The film knows that it has a viewer, it must be entertained, not allowing too early to solve all the mysteries of the detective line and get bored - so it focuses our attention on the original performance, because the presentation is the most important thing in the author's dish (and it is "Get knives", of course, is).
I didn’t count how many times the character de Armas threw up, but it’s brilliant. And from such small details, the whole scenario is built. Of course, we are deliberately not shown Chris Evans for so long; of course, specifically focus on the drop of blood on the shoe; it is no coincidence that the same note is heard on the piano at the beginning of the film. The guns end up firing, rewarding the viewer for attention, the puzzle assembles, the knot unravels - but we're not disappointed. I don’t want to shout ‘I expected more’ because I enjoyed it. In our time, a good detective, so interestingly assembled, rarely meet where. Only one moralizing scene at the end spoiled the impression (very little), but then we are shown the same circle again, and Johnson unequivocally repeats: “My film, my script, my rules”, ending the story only correctly – with an ellipsis. . .
To sum up, 'Get the knives out' is a bagel in a bagel hole in a bagel hole. Anyway, it's delicious.

All right, relax and stop. I’m going to watch the heavyweight classics.
It is not that the career of director and screenwriter Rian Johnson immediately skyrocketed. She was just growing progressively. When he turned 32, he directed his first film, Brick (2005), starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt. It was a low-budget ($475,000-$500,000) detective thriller, but nonetheless, Rian Johnson caught the eye. The next time he was allocated as much as $ 20 million and a great cast (Rachel Weiss, Adrian Brody, Mark Ruffalo, Rinko Kikuchi) for the filming of the adventurous crime comedy The Bloom Brothers (2008). But the picture did not meet expectations and failed at the box office, collecting only 5.5 million. But that was no reason for Ryan Johnson to be written off. Four years later, he shot the fantastic thriller The Time Loop (2012), where he again worked with Joseph Gordon-Levitt, also starred Bruce Willis and Emily Blunt. The film became a box office hit, grossing $176.5 million on a budget of $30 million. And then it was time for a real blockbuster - Johnson was invited to work on Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017) We will not go into details here, because the next project of Rian Johnson made the whole world talk about it.
On it, Johnson at the stage of writing the script worked long and hard, which was fully displayed on the screen, but about this a little later. It was also the debut film for Ryan Johnson’s T-Street film company, and it was important not to miss it from the start. In addition, no one would have forgiven Ryan Johnson, because he collected for the film adaptation of his “long-term” brilliant acting ensemble. The Oscar-winning and well-respected Christopher Plummer was involved, his on-screen older daughter was played by Jamie Lee Curtis, the role of her husband was assigned to Don Johnson, the youngest son of Plummer’s hero was played by Michael Shannon, the daughter-in-law – many underestimated Tony Collett, the grandson-major with appropriate behavior – himself Captain America Chris Evans. And these are only those who played the role of the closest relatives of the hero Christopher Plummer! But his incoming nurse, innocently drawn into a series of tragic and dangerous events, was embodied by a Cuban with a Spanish passport Ana de Armas, whose career in Hollywood began to develop rapidly (today she is almost the most popular actress in the Land of Dreams). But the icing on the cake, crowning all this mind-blowing cast, was the performer of the role of James Bond Craig. Daniel Craig. And this project of Rian Johnson was called “Get knives” (2019).
It makes no sense to go into the details of the plot, but it is worth mentioning that the events in Get Knives begin to develop after the strange suicide of rich detective author Harlan Thrombi. On the night of this tragedy, the entire Trombie family gathered for Harlan's birthday celebration. And here any fan of detectives will recognize the painfully familiar setting by Agatha Christie: the scene is a closed location, mostly not outside the big mansion; the suspects are everyone who was at the holiday, because, as it turns out, each of them had his own motive, even though by all obvious facts Harlan committed suicide; the sudden guest is a famous detective, remotely reminiscent of Hercule Poirot. His methods differ from the schematic actions of the police, he builds a logical chain, noting small details that initially seem insignificant. In short, watching Daniel Craig's hero is a real pleasure. His name is Detective Benoit Blanc. And thanks to the fact that the author of “Get Knives” Ryan Johnson so carefully prescribed all the characters, it turned out that we, as viewers, got one of the most memorable, charismatic and unique film detectives that came to the screen not from the pages of classical detectives, but were created precisely thanks to the talent of the writer. Only one monologue about bagels and holes is worthy of an Oscar!
In general, you can talk about Benoit Blanc for a long time and tediously, describe your admiring impressions, applaud Daniel Craig’s stand-up game, but I sincerely advise the viewer who has not yet seen “Get Knives out” to immediately start watching (to be honest, I am very envious of those who will watch the film for the first time). But other actors deserve a mention. I will speak separately for Chris Evans, who tried very hard to get out of the image of Captain America (as well as Craig of their image of James Bond). And yet, it will be too long to talk about each one, so I will only say that if there was still a nomination for the best acting ensemble at the Oscars, then, of course, Get Knives should have received a statuette. And as a small hint to the future viewer will serve the moment that if you like to solve riddles, connect your deductive abilities, then pay attention to the little things, they are very, very much hidden. An example is the inscription on the mug, which begins the film and finishes. Maybe this is not a landmark episode, or I can confuse, but relevant. Almost everything that happens matters here. “Get knives” is a real, strong, holistic, compact and very interesting detective without admixtures of other genres. And, by the way, if you decide to predict what actually happened, I do not advise. Firstly, it is unlikely to succeed, secondly, miss interesting details, thirdly, it is better to relax and have fun.
It's been a long time since I made this assessment, but Get Knives definitely deserves it:

Incredible viewing and reinvention of the detective
When I went to the movies to see this movie, I expected to see an ordinary detective with a little intrigue, and I got an incredible acting ensemble with a reinvention of the detective as such and it was just incredible.
An interesting story about how an ordinary nurse finds herself in an unpleasant story, where she in the course of circumstances acts as an assistant, then a victim, then a suspect is made simply incredible and you want to follow her without stopping. The plot itself (which, by the way, does not screen something, but is completely original, which is rare for the genre) also leads the viewer on the wrong trail more than once, confusing, but at the end explaining what it was all about, telling in almost the smallest detail the entire path of the killer and his victims.
Filmed very cool, although simple techniques are used, but together with the actors and the house where the main events take place, a cool atmosphere is created, from the first minutes, exciting and immersive in the film.
Here gathered just an incredible cast, which could hardly be imagined in one film, and here they all look very organic and in their places, individual decorations - the tandem of Daniel Craig and Ana de Armas and of course, escaped from the image of an exemplary hero Chris Evans, who was given to break away for all the time in Marvel, yes, at first it seems an ordinary boy who was born with a golden spoon in his mouth, but the further you look, the more convinced that he is not so one-sided.
And in principle, all the characters are revealed here at least a little, everyone becomes clear motivation. Craig, departed from the image of Bond, takes the mind, not force, Blanc turned out to be very charismatic, able to joke, but not forgetting to investigate and what is happening in the end is beyond praise. It looks fun and easy, because the dialogues are lashy, the characters are alive, and the situation is painfully familiar.
As a result, it turned out an incredible film that can entertain its viewer, with an excellent detective line, a cool atmosphere, with beautiful actors and many colorful characters.
Brilliant! Colorful, mysterious, intriguing! Be yourself and you will win! Victory of good over evil! I recommend it to everyone. Very bright detective thriller with a little hyperbole and humor.
To be commended, Ryan Johnson is brilliant as a screenwriter, very good as a director and, which deserves special admiration, was able in our time not to film or adapt classic detective stories, but to create an original work. Of course, with a stylistic look at the classics, but still – we have a new story, new heroes and... yes, in my opinion, this is cool! I have not been so interested in following the narrative in the detective due to the fact that here I did not understand the logic of the author and could not predict the final.
Originality, by itself, does not guarantee a fascinating story, but in combination with a high-quality script shot with straight hands, it is within the genre that this is a clear competitive advantage. Overall, I can confidently say that just because you’ve never seen this movie – it’s worth seeing, it doesn’t mean you’ll definitely like it – it’s a matter of taste, but the experience will be interesting.
Daniel Craig in the title role, personally on me, the “wow” effect did not produce. For example, the same Christopher Plummer is much more interesting and charismatic, but in an episodic way. Craig does not try to outplay everyone, does not overshadow the plot with his own character, rather, he ... as a narrator in a good book - organically complements the narrative, it turned out unexpectedly, but successfully.
Among the other actors, I want to single out only my love – Anecca de Armas, and, perhaps, Chris Evans. By the way, Captain America is really good and does not cause any associations with Marvel or shame due to the clowning with the mustaches as in the recent Grey Man. All the other actors, unfortunately, do not play very pleasant or interesting characters. They play well, but their problems will be interesting, rather, to aging housewives.
However, I do not consider personal antipathy to the characters a drawback of the picture. First, they probably shouldn’t be sympathetic. Secondly, I am not the target audience of a particular film, but of the genre as a whole. I consider only the not quite appropriate and, often, awkward, if not to say “ridiculous”, attempts to weave into the narrative the actual Western “agenda”.
I doubt that Agatha Christie's fans, whom I would name as the target audience, will even understand the meaning of the youth ideological conflict or appreciate toilet jokes (important for the plot). Probably, Netflix should “thank” for such moments, so I see no sense in significantly reducing the assessment – it is easier to take the objective problems of the platform as a given and not pay attention to them where they do not affect the overall impression of the work, because they are not its central element.

An extremely stellar cast catches the eye: Daniel Craig (James Bond), Chris Evans (Captain America), Ana de Armas (Ben Affleck's girlfriend, you could see memes about her). First of all, I bought it, because the description of the film leaves with the idea that we are facing an ordinary detective. But it was much more complicated.
Despite the only location in the film, it is very interesting to watch. The dialogue is funny and there are many detective elements. As for the drama, it is debatable, it rather appears at the end, and it happens successfully. Mixing such different genres is not easy, but Johnson certainly succeeded.
As for the detective component, she is on top. The film will not get bored with banality, the story is more complicated than it seems at first, second, and even third glance. Craig is a great detective, Armas is amazing cope with the role ... however, her role is easier to see in the picture than to describe on your fingers. She is perhaps the most complex and successful character of all.
Killing an evening alone or with friends is what it is, and you can worry, laugh, and draw conclusions. Unobtrusive and light is what you need on a winter evening.
It goes back to the beginning. Since a pretty detective was viewed the day before, and ahead is waiting Glass Onion, I decided to refresh my memory Knives Out.
Ryan Johnson is one of the most talented and promising directors of the current generation. Almost every film is discussed in one circle or another. And not always on the positive side, we recall at least the hysteria around the Last Jedi, which was not scolded only by a lazy fan of Star Wars (in the humble opinion absolutely overdue). He has a completely different view of already established clichés and genres. He is the only one who has not been afraid to bring a little of his madness to an already rolling galaxy far away. Approximately the same formula he went in a new project, which is now, before our eyes, is turning into a trilogy about the detective Benoit Blanc.
Recently, a monstrously small number of interesting detectives have appeared on the screens. This is especially true in Hollywood. The dilogy about "Hercule Poirot" (which, despite the cast and high-quality shooting, causes terrible boredom), and the Spanish "Invisible Guest", which is more related to the list of thrillers, but certainly beautiful, comes to mind. To get knives appeared absolutely out of nowhere, because he did not mean ardent PR. It became successful solely because of the excellent word of mouth radio, where almost anyone who watched the film enjoyed it and told all his friends and family about it.
An amazing story about how an immigrant nurse gets into an unpleasant story, where she alternately acts as an assistant, then a victim, then a suspect looks in one breath. Not least because of the cast. It was in this film that I first consciously discovered Anu de Armas, who right now is the top 3 most beautiful actresses in the world. She has such a beautiful face that she can play both an innocent sheep and an insidious young lady. It is enough for her to pat innocently with her beautiful eyes and immediately begin to believe everything she says. It fits perfectly into the current role and paired with Craig they give a beautiful tandem. And the decoration on the cake is Captain America, which is expressed with great pleasure in this film right and left, getting rid of the image of a good boy.
But a few words should be said about the script. The plot more than once or twice makes the viewer go on the wrong track, confuses and ultimately gives a tirade where the entire path of the killer and his victims is explained. It looks fun and easy, because the dialogue is lashy, the characters are alive, and the situation is painfully familiar.
The stingy pays twice, how important it is to respect others and how valuable it is to have a kind heart at the present time - all this is literally spoken from the screen, which makes perception a little easier. Plus, some moves look slightly attractive, but otherwise for the original picture - high class, which was marked by an Oscar nomination.

I still remember my impressions after the first viewing in the cinema. I haven't experienced anything like this in a long time. There is a lack of such feelings.
Nice Agatha Christie detective. The plot is quite unusual, since the viewer almost immediately learns what happened and who the killer is. But the writers kept a few trump cards up their sleeve, so it’s not boring to watch.
The film intrigued with a chic cast, and a fairly high rating on Kinopoisk 8.0. Is the movie that good? Oh, yeah, definitely. It turned out a chic detective story, seemingly quite simple story, where a lot is clear almost half of the film, if not before, but still the finale is definitely pleasing to the eye. In general, it was beautiful and effective.
The picture shot in just $ 40 million gathered very famous actors and actresses: Daniel Craig, Ana De Armas, Chris Evans, Jamie Lee Curtis, Don Johnson, Michael Shannon, Tony Collett and some others.
Honestly, I missed the detective genre, and I don't remember tapes from the time of Murder on the Orient Express that were so catchy. The tape of Ryan Johnson from the very beginning and to the end does not let go, it becomes interesting, the events taking place in the Trombie family are exciting, and it was interesting how everything will end, although much is clear almost immediately, but very interestingly executed.
The film has a very cool atmosphere in which you immerse yourself from the first minutes, even before all the investigations you feel that this detective story, even at the party, this feeling is present. It was really cool.
Daniel Craig, it was interesting to see how he changed in acting. I got used to Bondian with him, where he was in constant action. It's a completely different role. It's his mind, not his strength. Blank is very charismatic, it was very interesting to watch him unravel the case. At times he was humorous, it was interesting to watch his reasoning and conclusions, but in the end he is certainly above all praise. Great role.
Ana De Armas, never ceases to be surprised by her talent, in addition to her cute face and quite attractive appearance, she plays cool. Martha fell in love with me immediately, on the one hand, an unhappy girl who is experiencing severe grief, on the other hand, she liked the fight for herself, and in the end she is simply inimitable. It was a pleasure watching Martha. The way she vomited when she told a lie was certainly funny. I liked that Ana is not lost against the background of so many stars on the court, and gives a cool game, and her emotions and facial expressions are gorgeous.
Chris Evans, Captain America with his latest roles is very surprising, there is no longer that positive image that saves everyone, his latest roles show that Chris can perform different roles in different directions. Ransom's performance was a big hit. At first he seemed like an ordinary golden boy, but the further you look at him, the more you realize he is not as simple as you think. Great role.
Jamie Lee Curtis, the role may not be as big as I wanted. Linda is one of the key characters. I left a good impression. I liked her emotions when she learned about her inheritance.
Don Johnson, the old Don Johnson, didn’t expect to see a big role in a project like this. It was interesting to watch him, especially at the beginning of the interrogation, was very cunning. But then other characters caught my attention.
Michael Shannon, also left a pleasant impression in the image of Walt Trombie. I felt his pain, I felt his personal drama. Michael perfectly portrayed the role of the son of a famous writer. Although at first it seems more smeared, but I think his character is underrated.
Tony Collette, I will not say that much stood out, but also left a pleasant impression.
Getting knives is an excellent detective with a chic cast, it seems to be a simple story, but presented very cool, beautiful and spectacular. Some were given more time, some less, but no one fell out. The story seems exciting and attractive, you want to immerse yourself in it. Ana de Armas is more and more enjoying her game. To me, she even beat Daniel Craig, was very convincing. It was a game and a game.
Star cast and great acting, an old mansion, a private detective, blood on the carpet, a pinch of humor and a cascade of unexpected plot twists at the end. What else do you need for a good detective? Nothing. A rare combination of lightness of storytelling and a famously twisted plot. I got a lot of positive emotions from watching and a chic aftertaste.
This picture can without undue modesty boast a stunning detective plot of a non-trivial sample, which surprises with the intensive course of the investigation of an unexpected suicide as mysterious as it is obvious.
The energetic narrative turns the viewer “inside out” (but not like the main character of the film), vividly illustrating the irreconcilable quarrels between members of the once friendly family over the notorious legacy of the rich “culprit” of the tragedy. And the cast is actually the first locomotive of this magnificent story, constructing multifaceted images of the crazy, greedy and wayward cell of society. It is not necessary to mark one of the artists separately, due to the brilliant application of each of them their best qualities on the screen.
And very pleased with the fact that fans of this film in the near future will be able to see, very likely, more than one sequel. The central role in these works will be played by detective Benoit Blanc performed by the same Daniel Craig, who talentedly and meticulously unraveled the mystery of the strange suicide of the rich writer of the picture in question. There will be new cases, new investigations in the sequels, which is undoubtedly great news. In addition, before the audience there will be another series of magical artists who will undoubtedly embody extremely interesting heroes on the screen.
Thus, Getting Knives is a charming modern detective film that has an impressive and truly original plot, a stunning cast and a relaxed inner atmosphere. At the same time, the picture simply and clearly explores the topic of relationships between members of a single family, albeit not so typical as it may seem at first glance.
Yes, Blade Runner 2049... it was played by the beautiful Ana de Armas, which is in the lead role here. I fly like a bee to honey on beautiful birds, like a pigeon, which is anxiously pursuing another diva that turns up on the street. Pigeons are so simple... they can copulate and sexually stalk each other in plain sight without hiding under a sheet.
Maybe our movie is so simple. It's so enchanting, even though it doesn't really have the real detective charm of, say, Agatha or Doyle. What is it about him?
Funny story of death. It seems that the movie itself is funny, unreal, some fabulous from the very beginning, from the entourage, from the voices of the characters, from the actors’ game. The script itself is funny. He seems to be building a slightly gloomy detective, but in fact there is too much irony: the movie ridicules all the typical detective clichés that were not so in the era of the formation of Agatha Christie. Today, few people are surprised by the investigations or ingenious crimes. Hollywood has already exhausted everything.
And I'm exhausted. Exhale for the next breath. The year ends, eras pass. the next ended exactly on February 23. We woke up in a new world. After winter, a new era of spring, summer, autumn, winter began. And this means that the world will make another round. it will feel that he is shooting a new movie, with a new picture and new stories. But the plots will still be the same, and the picture will not be better than what the human eye shows ... for the eye will show, as it previously showed.
And our cinema goes through its cycle. Crime blossoms, ripens, bears fruit and dies to give birth to the next investigations in the cinema, which should be as it were better than the previous ones, but still the same as the faces in public.
There are many familiar faces, actors of the first and second magnitude, the third, some of whom once occupied much higher positions of the film Olympus. But the fame of the actors does not improve the film, on the contrary, distracts unnecessarily. Although it is interesting to watch them all together, although someone here is clearly superfluous.

Now I look, realizing that the plot is written off from Cinderella. Yeah, there's a lot of detective stuff, it's all remixed. But the essence of the script is Detective Cinderella, in a nutshell. I like this beautiful woman.
The ending of the film is good, but not really brilliant.
Actually, I'm not a fan of detective stories where a tight ball of wool, stained with someone's blood, is gradually unwound by a string by a private investigator. That is, when the general scheme of the plot development has long been known to everyone by virtue of tradition, and you just need to accept it and enjoy the twists and turns in the investigation process, in order to finally experience the delight of the final pointe. But this old-school detective unexpectedly pleased with a good script, and an excellent selection of actors, and their play. Great movie to enjoy Friday night! The only, perhaps, drawback of the picture is a speck of blood on the right sneaker of the heroine, which, despite the natural coagulation of hemoglobin, retains the pristine red color until the very end of the tape.
If you ever have an acute desire to see something that in a huge stream of high-budget blockbusters can be characterized as an extraordinary and intellectual movie, while executed aesthetically and tastefully, stop your choice on "Reach knives" and plunge headlong into a web of lies, deceit and pretense in an attempt to get closer to solving the crime committed.
The greatest pleasure for me is those stories where there is a very definite motive and not bad at all, when everyone has it and no one escapes under suspicion. The characters of this picture is an extremely extraordinary family, which, not to say that with great joy, celebrated the anniversary of the head of the family - 85-year-old Harlan Thrombi, who, moreover, is a popular author of detective novels. Family members, as well as Mr. Thromby's nurse, are, as is customary in the most famous detectives, often with an unconditional alibi, and certainly not always honest even in the face of the law. Oil in the fire is also added to the fact that the incident, which seemed a suicide, suggests the idea of a merciless crime, because there must be at least some clear reason for the presence of a private detective in the mansion, especially if we take into account the fact that it is not known for certain whose fault the latter was here.
A private investigator, Benoit Blanc, is a kind of Poirot in modern interpretation, who likes to hide all the facts, look for allies in the face of the household and undoubtedly comes to the truth, no matter how difficult and confusing it may be. It is intriguing that the names of both have similar origins, but I hope that, as a tribute, Benoit Blanc was not Belgian. However, there are undoubted differences, because Blanc is more represented as a classic bloodhound, a great lover of looking for any obvious evidence, like fingerprints on objects or footprints on the floor. Nevertheless, the character is extremely curious and bright, which is why I would like to see a quick continuation of the detective’s adventures.
2 years after the release of The Last Jedi, Ryan Johnson got a second chance and set about creating a work radically different from the one previously named. Now we can say with confidence that the rehabilitation period was passed successfully and the unique opportunity received was not wasted. The film really came out excellent, confusing, quite intellectual and at the same time also comedic. A number of rather amusing moments were reflected in "Get the knives" exactly when, it would seem, for a more intense heat of passions, it would be necessary to add a tense musical composition.
"Take out knives" has in its arsenal quite enviable actors, popular and constantly on hearing. Without a doubt, this could not but affect the success of the film. First, Daniel Craig, who has not yet fully emerged from the image of Bond, tried his best to put as much effort as possible, making the character he played a truly cult, shrouded in fog, personality. I think that if the alleged story with the sequels really happens, Daniel Craig in the future may be called the greatest detective of modern cinema. This is more than a suitable role for this actor. Also, Getting Knives was my first acquaintance with Ana de Armas as an actress, and I can quite call it a pleasant acquaintance. Ana played the role of Martha Cabrero, a very timid and honest nurse who cared about the health of the late Harlan Thrombi, and she was also a good companion and an interesting interlocutor. Of course, it is worth noting that the main role belongs to Martha, not Benoit Blanc, since it is Martha who is the missing detail in this rather shaky design, which is about to crash down. Another famous person in the center of the plot is Rance, whose role has kindly agreed to perform Chris Evans. To me, Evans is just charming here, despite the fact that at the same time, the manner of the hero’s behavior can seem disgusting, such a curious line between disgust and charisma, which the actor gave his character. Despite the fact that Daniel Craig tried in vain to pull the blanket of audience attention to himself, Chris Evans still won more sympathy, playing the kind of guy whose principles go against family views and ideals.
I would like to express my gratitude to the composer Nathan Johnson, who with his compositions was able to skillfully complement the picture, transferring the viewer to the atmosphere of a kind of twisted house, where once lived a seemingly happy family.
Perhaps "Get the knives" is a movie that tells us about a second chance, about the opportunity to start all over again, both for the director and for the characters of the film and even for the genre of "detective", which is firmly rooted in the film adaptations of the novels of Agatha Christie. I am glad that the filmmakers have finally turned their attention to detective as a potentially interesting genre that can be skillfully played in modern realities, giving the story all the characteristic subtleties, doing it stylishly, witty and very virtuoso.
