Princess Switch (2018): Nostalgic and Romantic This romantic unpretentious melodrama from Netflix I saw as the complete opposite of the festival films I had a marathon.
According to the plot, Stacy DeNovo, a simple pastry girl from Chicago, changes places with Margaret Delacort, Duchess of Montenegro, and against this background, funny events begin to occur in their lives.
Princess Switch stars Vanessa Hudgens, a cute high school girl from High School Musical, Linda from Scaryly Beautiful and Zac Efron’s ex-girlfriend. In this film, she does not show any heights, her soul is not captured, but her beauty is enough to watch the film to the end. And in the opening credits, a song performed by one of the actors of this film is Sam Palladio Bring The Snow.
It is primarily Christmas – it creates a festive atmosphere from the first frames to the final credits. It's like flipping through a beautiful Christmas-themed edition.
An additional bonus is its “playfulness” – it can be viewed as a quiz. It’s fun to guess which movies the story is referring to. I learned “Roman Holiday”, “How to Become a Princess”, “Exchange Vacation”, remembered touching films with the Olsen sisters (I really liked their films). The authors themselves included in the narrative as a reference Christmas Prince.
For all the ease of perception of the plot “In the place of the Princess”, I thought an interesting message. The princess is seen as a girl whom a young man treats well. This is not a title, but an attitude. And the second thing that is revealed in the film is the need to change, to discover new sides, to find a “royal person” in yourself, to take your place in life, not to live a “foreign” life. By the way, it is done in Christmas beautifully, just what you need during the festive period. And I believe that life is so beautiful – with hot chocolate, candy Keynes, snowflakes and socks, in which gifts are prepared.

Fun fact: The makeup artists missed one small moment, forgetting to cover the tattoo on the little finger of actress Vanessa Hudgens with a tonal cream. It was wrong when Margaret shows up with a tattoo, it's inappropriate for a royal. For Stacey, skin decoration would be acceptable. But her butterfly around her neck was perfectly concealed, as if it were not there.
