What will happen to the film if you remove from the main character, Kabir, his explosive character? And leave only the "light" part of it? It will turn out a classic good Indian cinema, where lovers share traditions, they suffer, and in the end, happy and happy. After all, if you listen to what Kabir says about relationships, about family, about the caste system, about his work, about honesty and dignity, then he is a perfect man. And he will take responsibility for the woman, and he will protect from scoundrels, and he respects the norms of society, and he is simply ready to idolize the family of his bride, not that he is ready to love. I am ready to settle everything, everywhere, always and with anyone. And if you take India, where there is still not only caste inequality, but also often disrespect for women, Kabir is even more than an ideal man (for women in India). What a profession he has, a surgeon! In general, from all sides a positive guy.

But this movie will not surprise anyone. Moreover, Shahid Kapoor was filmed in similar (for example, "Vivah"). This is where Kabir’s dark side comes to the fore. And the film begins to surprise, but not always in a good way. Who likes an alcoholic, a drug abuser, an aggressive rude person and a womanizer? Which, moreover, does not take into account the opinion of others and does not respect people. But immediately the passions played, and it is impossible to decide how to treat Kabir at all: is he a positive character of this film or a negative one?
Perhaps the most interesting part of the film for me was not what we are shown, but what is left behind: why is Kabir like this? He was defiant before he met Priti. Any criticism is perceived as a challenge, and any word against him as a criticism. It's a vicious circle. But why is he like that? Why is he so obsessed with everything he says or does? It's like defending against people, and the best defense is attack. It is not only the righteous, but the righteous, the righteous, the righteous. And then it becomes clear that Kabir is not as terrible as he wants to appear unconsciously. In an interview, Shahid Kapoor said of Kabir: 'He has a pure soul.'
I think he and Priti will succeed. If it hadn’t happened the way it did, it’s unclear how this love story would have ended. But after passing through fire, water and copper pipes, both Kabir and Priti did change (remember the dialogue: "Who are you?"). In general, Kabiru would be like a psychologist, like in the movie Dear Zindagi. And then they'll be fine.

I will say right away - the original "Arjun Reddy" I have not seen, I have nothing to compare with. The network says that the film was shot like a piggyback, just every frame from there is slicked, I can not judge, as I am not going to watch the original. They say he was successful and big. But "Kabira Singh" did not scold only lazy. And it was called propaganda of all kinds of addictions (alcohol, drugs), and propaganda of misogyny. In short, the nightmare that was written about him. And so, looking, I can express my opinion - definitely a very strong film, one of the strongest in the filmography of Shahid Kapoor, but many will not like it. Due to the ambiguous main character, on which, of course, all the action is focused. The plot is so, all the emphasis is on the actors. Shahid has changed a lot since the days of sweet boy bunnies, and the change makes me happy. He had similar images in The Flying Punjab, for example, but he outdid himself. I think that’s what the director’s bet was on. Exactly the character of GG. After all, everything begins very non-trivial - we see a descended young man who is drunk on black and uses something stronger, sexually preoccupied, evil as hell - and at the same time a brilliant doctor who saves people's lives in between binges. I would never believe such a combination of ugly and beautiful, if I did not know such a person. An exceptionally clever woman, an excellent worker, knew five languages, the support and hope of the company - and a hum, a pig, a chauvinist in everyday life. I remember talking to the staff exclusively. I've been drinking. So it happens, rarely, but it does. And this image of Kabir is the main feature of the film. Kabir is brazen, rude, harassing family and friends with his behavior. But then we reveal the background and show how he came to life, and much is explained. In medical school, he fell in love with Priti - yes! - and it happens, and such individuals fall in love. The girl was from a traditional Punjabi family, and although they dated for a long time and with all the ensuing consequences, she was not married to Kabir. Who is to blame or not, God will decide. Kabir behaved badly, I must say. Well, the crown on his head prevented, yes, just humane behavior and somehow negotiate with the family of the bride. He fought, tore and metaled, but nothing helped. In short, the main characters are so proud that they are very stupid. They ruined everything themselves.

Sometimes Kabir’s brazenness and weakness were irritating. When he was deprived of the love of his life, he did something like this - don't grieve your mother. And yet his persistence is striking. He didn't give up, didn't deflate, and went all the way. I did it because of my pride. Of course, feminists of all kinds have to yell at the end - how so, he hit her, humiliated her, could not protect her from her family, and she did forgive him. Well, yes, women are like that... I won’t use that word for the letter D, because I’m completely thrown. Loved Priti Kabir, that's what. I don't know, they don't show us how they went on. It just shows where the story ends. Maybe he will continue to be jealous and smack her. And she will endure all this for love. It may be that Kabir is a bastard.

So we see a non-trivial love story, played completely without sentiment, without songs and dances (which is important). The music was in the background. In the center is the image of the main character. His whole path is in understanding himself, the surrounding world, rethinking values, reincarnation. Shahid has grown very much as an actor. Kiara Advani is also growing as an actress from film to film, I think she is already a worthy competitor to Bollywood actresses, and then it will only be cooler. I would recommend this unusual movie to fans. Despite the repulsive places of Kabir, it is interesting to watch, almost three hours fly by unnoticed. But, again, if you zealously advocate for the rights of women, then nothing but an unpleasant sediment (perhaps even disgust) will remain in the soul after watching. I personally really liked it. But I'm from the same sado-maso club. And yet - in the film a lot of alcohol, drugs, cigarettes and mat. About the mat, hello to the voice group. They could have clamped (although probably they would have had most of the screen time and the whole movie would have turned into a continuous nodding).
