History of Industrial Musicals I recently watched an interesting documentary about industrial musicals. It's the first time I've heard such a thing. And these are actually performances that are usually arranged at corporate parties, conventions, conventions and other meetings with a large number of people. And if this usually happens in the format of a concert, in the United States, due to the popularity of musical theater, they preferred to stage musicals. After the end of World War II, when the U.S. economy was booming and large companies could spend big money on entertainment for their employees, many productions cost more than Broadway performances. These musicals were recorded on records and then distributed among the participants of the conventions. Some were filmed, and famous composers, authors and actors took part in the creation of music and text, as well as the productions themselves.
The author of the film is looking for these rare recordings and the people involved in them. Many actors are happy to talk about participating in those performances, although they never became big stars.
Some of the songs in the film are great, despite the funny lyrics. “In My Bathroom” from the musical “The bathrooms are coming” After all, all these musicals were devoted to the products that the company produced and the plots often showed the lives of employees of insurance companies or car dealers, etc. Now this genre is not so popular and only very large companies allow themselves to do this.
