Girlfriend for Scrat Have you ever thought that after Jurassic Park, the most successful paleontological franchise is Ice Age? Five full-length parts in fourteen years can boast not every series of films. I wish the quality of the films was good! The last more or less watchable was the third “Ice Age”, which, in addition to the dinosaurs, we remember Skratti – Skratti’s girlfriend and close relative.
Before the discovery of Cronopio dentiacutus was still two years, but the presence of a flying membrane in volaticotherium - Mesozoic mammal - was already known. Perhaps Volaticotherium is the prototype for Scrutty. In this cartoon, we are briefly told about how Scrutty was created and what efforts the team of animators spent on ... very stupid. The further away from the first part, the more stupid Skrat behaves, and when we are shown how carefully all this stupidity was created, the impressions become even a little worse. A lot of concept art, time-lapse drawing, careful modeling, painting - and all this in order to smack over the poor animal, from which the acorn is peeled along with the wool. Ha. Ha. Ha.
In general, this is surprising: in the franchise, where animals can talk (unlike humans, by the way), the most visual recognition was gained by a shrill little animal that looks like a squirrel. Fussy and constantly chasing acorns, Skrat remained lonely for two parts. Oh, come on! Skratti, as we are told, was specially created as the opposite of Skrat, because we all remember what attracts the most. If Skratt is ridiculous and with a funny face, then Skratty is beautiful and with a seductive face. She also has mascara eyes. This is during the ice age.
In truth, the idea of choosing between a girl and a cherished acorn could work well, but the authors of the cartoon made a mistake, focusing too much on the absurdities. Instead of showing how Skrat starves for the good of his girlfriend, let’s show how an acorn swims past the couple, like a lonely ex-girlfriend of Skrat. And throughout the third Ice Age, we will be shown how poor Skrat falls, twists and even gets a kick in the groin from Scrutty. And all this, as we find out from "Fall in Love with Scrutty", was created with great diligence, which does not do the authors credit.
If you really like the third Ice Age and, in particular, Scrutty, then this documentary project will interest you. Others will remain indifferent.
