Mystical exoticism of the East The series recreates the atmosphere of the era, the mysterious Malaysian culture – full of mysticism and paradoxes. And let the creation of Ho Yuhang and Shio Chuan Quek still fall short of the horror genre - there are plenty of frightening and chilling phenomena in it. Only the appearance of the deceased Tian Ching is worth it. Actor Quang Tian looked great in his role – fascinating and so repulsive at the same time. His shrill look chilled his soul, and his appearance frightened and repulsed.
Malacca, 1890. Lee Lang is the only child of the Pan family. In her 20s, she is not even engaged, while her friend has already had a child. It seems that Lee Lang is not going to marry, although she had a childhood friend with whom she has long been secretly in love. Tian Bai, the youngest of the Lim family, went abroad to study medicine, and the girl promised to wait for him. When five years later, he finally returns to his homeland and also lights up his love for Li Lang, all obstacles seem to be overcome. And let the Lim family be one of the richest in the country, while Father Panele makes ends meet. The main thing is that the feeling is mutual. However, it was at this time that Tian Ching, Tian Bai’s cousin, died. He dies single, doomed to eternal torment in the afterlife. Then the treacherous mother has a monstrous idea - to marry Tian Ching to Li Lang, making her a "ghost bride." Everything goes in the course - blackmail and intrigue, bribery and all sorts of behind-the-scenes games.
At first glance, it seems that the Ghost Bride is another family melodramatic story, twisted in the spirit of Brazilian soap operas. However, from the end of the first series it becomes clear - then a real detective story will develop. After all, Li Lang has ten days to find out the true cause of death of her unwanted fiancé, or her own father will go to the next world. The whole story is based on very real facts of such weddings of “ghost brides” on already deceased grooms. Yes, the Eastern mentality is very peculiar.
Much of this story depended on the main character. How the actress will be able to convey her image, wrap up intrigue and penetrate the family secrets of the Lim family. Huang Pei Jia did quite well with this role. Outwardly quite cute and rather modest, this girl can be persistent and quite purposeful. The actress well conveyed all the emotions of her heroine, playing funny facial expressions. You can’t even say that at the time of filming Huang was already 31 years old, i.e. more than 10 years older than his on-screen heroine!
In the future, the plot acquires a significant amount of humor, because Erlan is such a funny character. His perpetual wrangling with Lee Lang is impossible to watch without a smile. At the same time, their various twists and mannerisms make the series more like teenage Korean dramas than a mystic-dramatic investigation against a historical background.
The series is based on the novel of the same name by Malaysian writer Yangjie Chu. Although both have a lot of very small and insignificant differences. In general, the film is very good and exciting from the first series. “Ghost Bride” is a rattling mixture of romance and drama, mysticism and intense intrigue, the stake in which are numerous lives. Here you and the journey to the other world, and heavenly court, and even a real detective story with the search for the killer. But there is a huge amount of humor in the plot, a lot of very funny and cute situations that can quickly defuse the situation. I was happy with the ending, although with a clear hint of continuation.
