Adventures of Indians Abroad Thiru, along with his teenage friend Super, is engaged in petty robbery. At the same time, he is tight in his ear, unemployed and does not want to sell his house under any pretext. The groom is not so good, but one day he meets a loud girl, Wenba, and instantly falls in love, decides to marry her. She, of course, does not want him and refuses all courtship. As a result, under the pressure of Thir, the girl surrenders, and the matter is moving towards the wedding, but there is not enough money for living and being. And Wenba decides to fly to Malaysia for a couple of days to earn extra money. After a few days, Thiru learns that his beloved has been sold into slavery. And after a couple of days, he finds himself in another country, under a different name and with the goal of finding it at all costs.
Arun Kumar combined romance and action, placing one genre territorially in India and the other in Malaysia. It is noteworthy that romance here does not exist in isolation from the plot, but is the main reason why the characters suddenly find themselves in an unfamiliar country. The first half of the film, the main character stubbornly seeks his lady heart. The girl got obstinate, so Vijay Sethupathi had to use all his charm to make us believe that no one could resist his romantic look. So in terms of romance, there are no complaints, plus all this was complemented with beautiful songs from Yuwan Shankar Raji. An hour passes unnoticed behind this love lyrics, and about Thira we learn only two things - he is not burdened with any special problems and takes fatherly care of the boy he has adopted. Well, they tried to beat one confrontation with the local authorities, but since it had no direct relation to the storyline, it did not develop, but simply became proof that Thiru would take revenge on anyone who would offend people dear to him. As for the fatherly attitude to Super... It was probably a big part of this that Vijay played here with his son. That is why they constantly jumped kissing hugs, in my opinion, not quite characteristic of thieves’ natures, and even not connected by any kinship. Honestly, we could say directly that he is his son, I think the plot would not have suffered from this.
So, from the first half of the film it became clear that the problems will arise not in Thir, but in his beloved. The girl wanted to support the unemployed lover and earn more money for family life in a foreign country. So she ends up in Malaysia. And this marks the main problem outlined in the plot - the slave trade in the modern world. Needless to say, Thir did not have time to enjoy happiness in his personal life, as he had to rush to another country to save his faithful. He does not reach her without adventure. The militant was made good - chases, shootouts, everything as it should be. There were even some exciting scenes. But with the fights, they did not mess much, they showed only the result. However, in the pursuit of action, the plot still retained its dramatic component. Of course, the ending of the story is fabulous, but there are few people around the world who, like Thiru, are looking for their relatives, as well as the unhappy father he met on his way, are trying to make money in every way to buy their daughters, etc.
Of course, you can find flaws in the story. They appear more in the second part. Too easy to move Thiru and Supera in an unfamiliar country, a fantastic coincidence that everywhere you can meet their own and that, not having time to come, they immediately begin to cooperate with the police, and on a completely left-wing case, well, and somehow Venba is not in the hands of anyone, namely the main antagonist. And yet, despite this, I will not say that this greatly spoils the impression of the film.
Dynamic action covers all the shortcomings, as well as the acting. There are at least four characters that claim to be the main characters. These are Theru with Super, Venba and Ling (the main antagonist). Vijay and Anjali looked good together. I haven’t seen Anjali since Bazaar Street. As far as I can remember, she attracted me there with her lively character. And here I also noted her direct play. I can only say one thing about Vijay, as always. Of his son, Surya, there is not much to say yet. Whether he will continue as an actor is unknown. Over the years since the release of this film, Surya has not appeared anywhere else, and he starred exclusively with his father only a couple of times. And the last one on this list is Linga. His villain turned out to be template, although at first he even hooked something, but he did not remember anything special. Therefore, the emphasis here was more on Vijay and Anjali, and they did a great job.
In the end, I can recommend the film, despite the shortcomings. They are not critical enough to miss a good action movie with romantic overtones and revealing one of the most terrible problems of modern mankind.
