'Supervillain who challenged the system', 'unreal evil genius', ' Charming criminal' - having read such epithets, I eagerly rushed to watch 'Silk road' expecting to see a modern Ramsay Bolton or at least Tomi from 'Good guys' After watching half the movie, I tried to figure out who those words were about. 'Supervillain', 'Evil genius'? You mean that charmless boy with pubic hair on his cheeks? A villain? Genius? Terrified, shaking with sweet terror, unable to find a way out of any difficult situation on his own, the infantil is a supervillain? Ross Ulbricht looks like an undergraduate student, his head full of monetarist ideas (the state is evil!). Each of our deals (buying and selling drugs) is a victory over the state! There it is! It turns out that every time you see a druggie in his pants, you see a winner! Yeah, yeah, that crooked, shaking, itchy bum just beat the system! Bow at his feet, or better yet - give money for new victories, the guy goes to success, the goal is close, the state is cracking at the seams, once again expand, and it will collapse!
Ross is a charm-free undergrowth with unclear motivation. He creates a drug system without a clear answer to the question, “Why did he do it?” ' I wanted to give people freedom.' Then, sobbing with resentment, he continues - ' I understand it sounds vulgar' Here would the director and show his talent, and show how Ross with a tear, as a soak in the final scene & #39; Place of meeting & #39;, shouts - am I myself? I'm human! It is foolish to expect a scoundrel to speak high truths. The boy misinterpreted the idea of freedom and set up a trade in death. Ross doesn't look like a villain or a genius for a second. I saw in his eyes a familiar expression - a kind of mixture of fear and impudence. I was thinking, where did I see this? I remember. The same, full of shameful meanness look happens to my cat after he shits in my slippers.
Rick Bowden looks more like a man and a hero than lifeless computer freak Ross. He has a simple and intelligible motivation (at the behest of my wife), he is an old-school cop, rude and simple as a faceted glass. In the finale of the film, you will see that he, not Ross, deserves the title of the main character. It's more down-to-earth, cynical, and effective. The face of the color of the raw chop, the faded look of tin eyes, a contemptuous attitude towards zoomers. Characteristically, the word ' vegetarian' in this film is used as a synonym for mental retardation. What does this director do? Where are the indignant cries of the progressive public?
Bottom line.
The stated confrontation between the villain and the antagonist & #39 did not take place due to the absence of the villain. Instead of the genius of evil, the infernal Mephistophile, radiating with the charm of the devil, we were shown a boring Ptouchnik - an undereducation in fear-poor diapers. Evil should be elegant, aristocratic, cheerful. And here's a shuffling misunderstanding with a glazed eye. The creator of the antisocial network is not antisocial enough.
Over the past 20 years, many films have appeared on the screens about real figures in the IT sphere (Pirates of Silicon Valley, Social Network, Jobs, Snowden, etc.) and in this series, the film Silk Road looks good about the founder of the short-lived, but rapidly working anonymous online trading platform Silk Road. In addition, this film at the same time belongs to another popular genre abroad - the biography of a charismatic criminal (here, to list even the most striking such films, you will need several text screens).
Now we have the opportunity to watch a two-hour film about the founder of Silk Road William Ross Ulbricht. The film turned out to be a good and fairly accurate description of the details of this case (well, the filmmakers put too much effort into showing everything as the activity of a lone genius, although Silk Road operated in several countries and at least a considerable staff of employees had to work for the preliminary packaging of goods for almost a billion dollars in two years). For those who are interested, they will look or read it themselves. In my opinion, it is much better and more interesting to show that the fascination with the ideas of the Austrian economic school and libertarianism eventually results in a well-established drug trade and the organization of contract killings. At the same time, the struggle of the old with the new in power structures is well shown. It is a pity that in the end they did not show how, after the arrest of Ulbricht, numerous and less tenacious clones of the Silk Road began to multiply.
So the movie is worth watching!
Ross Ulbricht decides to create an Internet network where everyone can buy and sell anything. Only this is not about a harmless site where you can buy an old and someone already unnecessary thing, but about a real platform of criminals. The thing is that with the help of this Internet resource, people can sell and purchase pirated versions of books, porn and even drugs.
According to the main character, people should not have restrictions in trade and shopping, even if it is completely illegal. And his friends are actively supporting him in this case. Moreover, such a business brings millions in phenomenally short terms. So why not combine the useful with the pleasant? But to create such a network, you have to sweat: this can not be done in public access, so you have to infiltrate the darknet. But the police are also not complete fools, so now begins the fight of the law against the “evil genius”, and let the strongest win.
Of course, the first thing that made me watch the film was the genre. I don’t think there are people who don’t like thrillers. Given that this is not another horror movie, it is generally the perfect kind of movie. This is really an action thriller, so it is no wonder that the plot is as “acute” as possible. The development of events does not allow you to relax for a minute, and even more so to get bored. This is why it looks like a cliff.
The integrity of the entire story is especially worth noting. I think, first of all, it is connected with the fact that one person acted as a director and screenwriter, so he knew well how and what to do. So he originally wrote the script to his own vision, so he played it perfectly. Secondly, director Tiller Russell already has considerable experience in how to shoot crime stories, so he was able to build the most suitable concept for the story. But to be fair, this picture is the best.
The second interesting point is that the story in the film is based on real events. That is, Ross Ulbricht is a real person who really created such a huge platform, where more than a million people performed operations. It's unbelievable! By the way, you should put a huge plus to the actors. I don't think there were any better guys. Nick Robinson, who is very popular among teenagers, played very well. Personally, I can’t say that I’m excited about his past roles, like Love, Simon. But here he clearly played the image, it is clear that he fully understood the character. Honestly, I was delighted with both the images themselves and the game.
My conclusion is that the film is definitely worth watching. This is one of the few movies that can be watched many times, and every time it will be interesting. Every detail is important here, and watching the development is unrealistically interesting. Therefore, I strongly recommend watching the “Asocial Network”, because the movie definitely can not disappoint!

I have no doubt that everyone creates their own unique business in dreams. For example, I always wanted to open my own candy store, styled as Harry Potter. But I understand that all these are dreams, and it is unlikely that in reality I will be able to create a successful enterprise. I read once that only 5 percent of people have commercial savvy, and the rest of us just don’t. But I’ve always been interested in watching other people’s success stories in the movies to reveal their secrets and chips.
Not bad on this topic I can call the films about Steve jobs, “Founder” with Michael Keaton and similar biopics. They may be a bit similar in structure, but I still like the genre. So I decided to look at the social network. I immediately came to mind associations with the film of David Fincher about Mark Zuckerberg (in my opinion – this is a masterpiece), but the picture of Tiller Russell was special. It is unusual due to the fact that in the center of the plot is a very unusual hero.
So, meet Ross Ulbricht, a young guy, physicist, salesman, romantic and in his own way a genius. Ross came up with an idea for a start-up – you need to take and organize a new marketplace, call it Silk Road and shoot cream. You say, what is unique about this? There's Ibei, Amazon, Ali Express! Yes, you are absolutely right, but Silk Road does not sell toys or clothes, but drugs, weapons and other illegal goods. In a world now ruled by the Internet, even criminals need convenient platforms. The best of them was created by Ulbricht.
To be honest, I am against what the real Ulbricht did. He may be a genius, but not Jobs. But I know how to evaluate people’s talents, even if they go beyond the law. And the film is so interesting that you want to follow every step, every movement of Ulbricht, which directly radiates charisma. Here I would like to thank the lead actor, Nick Robinson. Still, a talented guy, it's nice to see him not in TV series, but in a big movie.
Robinson tried, played on edge, the emotional range of the actor surprised me. Jason Clarke (Terminator 5, The Ghosts of Winchester House) If Robinson's character escapes justice, Clark's character is chasing him. The defender of the order will have to seriously try to understand the motives and desires of the young criminal, and this is not easy. Mature brutality collides with good ingenuity and this confrontation pleased me pleasantly.
The film came out worthwhile and needs to be seen. “Asocial Network” is an interesting movie that reveals to us the essence of the crimes of the computer age and the morality of this story is correct. Don't worry, no one is idealizing villains here.

People like charming villains, or rather antiheroes. There is something attractive and alluring in them that can surprise, amaze the imagination and make them admire. As an example, I can name a gangster John Dillinger, who in the movie Johnny D. was played by Johnny Depp himself. There is nothing to say about Bonnie and Clyde at all - they were just loved by everyone. New times gave us new charming criminals, one of whom was a man Ross Ulbricht. You probably haven’t heard of it, but now we’ll fix it.
Ulbricht was practically nobody, a little-known physicist, and an unsuccessful book dealer. But one day he had a brilliant idea! If Jeff Bezos created Amazon in the '90s and became one of the richest people in the world, why wouldn't Ulbricht do something like that? But it is necessary to play not according to the rules of the law, but in the so-called Darknet. And this is the story we tell the film “Antisocial network”.
His main character, or as we have already noted, the antihero, is Ross Ulbricht himself. His head is full of ideas and he will do anything to become a shadowy celebrity, author and owner of the most famous underground online store in history. Through its website, Ulbricht plans to sell everything that can not be bought in an ordinary outlet. The bet is on drugs because they can make the most money. But the higher your nose, the more you fall, everyone knows. On Ulbricht opened the “hunting season” and he clearly will not be able to relax.
Tiller Russell's film is shot in a dynamic, lively way. The director understands what the modern viewer needs and famously introduces us to Ulbricht performed by Nick Robinson. Looking at this guy from the outside, you would never say that he is a real criminal genius. But the devil, as we know, lies in the details, and the deeper we penetrate into the essence of Ulbricht. We are making more unexpected discoveries.
I liked the film in the first place, it is so exciting and at the same time easy to shoot. The same “Johnny D” as in my opinion was too heavy, and “Antisocial Network” on the contrary tries once again not to load our heads, demonstrating the creation of a criminal empire of the future, which moves forward like lightning, but sooner or later everything must be held accountable and, as you understand, Ulbricht will have quite a hard time.
As a result, “Antisocial Network” refers to those rare films that are interesting to watch from beginning to end. Of course, after reading the biography of the real Ulbricht on the Internet, you can catch spoilers, but Tiller Russell’s tape is shot so cheerfully and attractive that we can safely say that the intrigue will not subside until the very end, this is a fact.
