A deep dive film Impressions from watching the film by Andrei Vereskov “Appoint me a date” – the most positive. From the beginning to the end of the short film, you never tire of being amazed by the acting, piercing and real: you believe every word and gesture – absolutely, unconditionally. More than that! Each - even episodic! - character immerses you in incredible depth (if you are ready to dive, if not - the film looks quite at the event level; but the finale, however, the director leaves open: understatement, a kind of reason to think, feel, answer the question "and what next?") .
"Incredible depth"? What's this about? The subtext. The layering of meaning. The picture can be viewed as you contemplate a calm smooth water surface, barely touching its surface with a glance. And you can dive under the water, clamping, and feel the touch of water: cool, but pleasant.
A guy and a girl spend time in a cafe. Beautiful. And the drinks in their hands are great. Both are young, gorgeous and... terribly lonely. They have a lot of interests, the guys are stuffed and as if imbued with knowledge about yoga, about art, their appearance is beyond praise, but how bored they are together. How superfluous they probably feel in the space of the cafe, and in the boundaries of the world. . .
Or a man with a laptop. He seems to be busy with something, but in his eyes there is no excitement, enthusiasm or even a hint of enthusiasm.
Or - other visitors to the institution who came here to kill time, share the sadness and sadness, with the timid hope of grabbing some chance. .
Even the waitress, strict, polite, hospitable, also does not look happy, alive. She seems lost and, like everyone else, lonely.
What about passers-by? No, they are not alone, but their immediate happiness is timid and fragile. Some are surprised to look at the barefoot girl walking along the boulevard, others, exactly in stupor, accompany her with brooding glances.
The main character is almost always closed from others. She flounders in the world of her emotions, on the outside she seems strange and detached. She is forced to smile by a casual counter, a passenger who, in a sense, is immersed in his own world – the world of music, which charges with mood, drive, light, and this bright energy seems to be transmitted to the heroine, animates her, helps to return to reality, gives hope that everything will be fine.
Bright, truthful, pleasant, film - with immersion to the depth.
