Mythomaniac — a life series pro- deceiving the family to make it better to treat you Do you know who mythomans are? Mythoman is defined as a state in which people compulsively lie, sometimes even believe that their life is true. Migomaniacs usually lie without motivation. But what if someone you know is lying for a good reason, namely because no one is paying attention to them? This is the idea of a new French drama, released on November 28 on NETFLIX.
After the French Marianne, which turned out to be very good, I turned my attention to Mythomaniac, expecting the same quality of the actors, an attractive atmosphere and an interesting plot. There are only 6 episodes in the first season, and I really like this format. At the same time, the story in the series is quite vital.
The plot revolves around Elvira, a mother of three who struggles to gain attention and approval from the family. Fed up with the fact that her children do not appreciate her, and she suspects her husband of cheating, Elvira makes up a terrible lie about suffering from breast cancer. After that, her life changed for the better. A completely different attitude from her family makes our heroine keep silent about the deception, thanks to which she began to enjoy life. But after a while, a liar has serious consequences.
This project shows that each family member has his own secrets. But we all know that no one in the family wants to hurt each other. All deceptions seem to be important life lessons, taught without any preaching or contrived thinking. Martin Luther once said, “Lies are like snowballs, the further you roll them, the bigger they become.”
Elvira goes to great lengths with her fraud and eventually faces the serious consequences of her actions. By the end of the series, several new plot moments were also added, which turned out slightly crumpled and leaving many questions, which gives hope for a second season.
The series provides a great opportunity for young guys who can look from the outside at where the refrigerator food, cooked food, clean clothes in the closet, etc. The problems of parents and children of different ages are plausibly shown. Do not forget to mention that it is important to accept yourself as you feel inside, despite the upcoming difficulties with the interaction of society.
The cast of the leading roles is the strongest side of the series, as each of them plays a rather difficult role. In particular, Jeremy Gillet plays a touching transsexual teenager who is trying to adjust to his life in an already dysfunctional family. I did not even realize from the first series that this is a son, not a daughter.
A beautiful drama that shows what people are ready to be noticed and no longer considered expendable material that is used in the personal interests of everyone.
