The destruction of the family is the culmination of the tragedy of the Iranian people. “The midday story. Trace of blood.
The second film of the series “Midnight Story”. It turned out a little more lively and interesting than the first, unduplicated. This one's translated. The drama of the Iranian people after the Islamic Revolution continues, now it destroys families.
The late 1980s of the 20th century. The Iran-Iraq war is over and an armistice is signed. The Mujahideen Alliance of Iran, the opposition to Islamic rule, is fleeing Iran under Rajavi’s leadership and is based at an Iraqi military base. Now the mujahideen, together with the enemies, are fighting against the Islamic Republic.
Former Iranian military officer Zaribaf has long been considered loyal to the Islamic regime. Being a “mole” and traitor, he fled to Iraq and joined the mujahideen, in the film they are also called munafiks (hypocrites). In a military camp, he prepares Iranian immigrants, including women, for the armed struggle against Iran.
The group of scout Sadiq from the first film of the series, makes a huge effort to capture Zaribaf. 2 Iranian fighters are sent to Iraq to kill a fugitive, but are ambushed there. Sadiq and his comrades realize that the mole is again operating among them. . .
Meanwhile, secretly from the group in the family of the analyst Afshin, a drama occurs: a few years ago, his wife Sima, having abandoned her one-year-old daughter, went to fight with Iraq and disappeared. She has not been found among those killed in the years since. Inconsolable Afshin is lost in guesses: whether his wife is in captivity, or in the ranks of the mujahideen. Along with him is the scout Kamal, whose sister is the missing Sima. 6-year-old daughter Afshin almost does not remember his mother, and the hero is waiting for her to return, because he loves her very much.
If the first film showed the tragedy of lovers, then here the war broke families. Together with a long-suffering country. It is bitter to see well shown, better than in "Majaray nimroz," the experiences of strong men. Who are forced to hide them until they themselves understand the mystery of Shema's disappearance.
At the same time, Sima, who chose to fight for an idea, passionately yearns for the family left behind.
The filmmakers show us a mysterious people, the Iranians. In words, the heroes of the film - soldiers of the Islamic revolution - are ready to act according to the laws of their harsh homeland. But in fact, everyone turns out to be people who act humanly, contrary to orders and religious ideas. Once again, we, the audience, are convinced that love is stronger than idea, religion, order, duty.
I would like to note that this film is more interesting than the previous one, most likely it is due to dubbing. It’s better when you understand what’s going on, not just guess. I cannot advise you to view the picture, it is too specific in its non-cinematic manner of shooting.
I watched it with interest because I was interested in the very history of the issue: the Islamic Revolution, the counter-revolution and the subsequent war. To fully understand the plot, I had to watch and listen to some episodes several times, not everything is clear from the first. Iran is a distant and unfamiliar country and its history. But for self-development, everything is useful.
