By coincidence, God maintains anonymity. Anu, Arjun and Mani have been friends since school, and none of them think of crossing this threshold of friendship and becoming something more. So it was until one momentous day when Anu suddenly offered Arjun a marriage to avoid marrying a stranger forced upon her. Take him and say yes. Can marriage be built only on friendship? My first love was on the horizon. It seems that urgent intervention from Above is needed here, otherwise the heroes will do a lot of trouble, and then He will be accused of them.
At first, it may seem like an ordinary, unremarkable story. And it was timed to coincide with the Day of Lovers. Who is making something serious for such a holiday? We usually have a one-time comedy, a look, a smile, and forget. However, there are exceptions to the rule. And this is the case. The beauty of this film is in its plot. He reminded me of one wonderful Korean series “Meet the Wife”, 2018. By the way, maybe that's where your legs grow. Nevertheless, it is not even in the negative, but only in the plus of Indians, if they are so superbly able to reverse the films of foreign colleagues, without spoiling anything. So, viewers and critics liked this interpretation so much that the rights to it were immediately bought by Sandalwood and Tollywood. It is noteworthy that both this film and the newly released version in Kannada language - Lucky Man - have a fairly high rating. And to tell you the truth, he is absolutely deserved.
As usual, I can't do without a comparison since I've seen both of these paintings. What do they have in common? Both directors are debutants. Whether it is a funny coincidence, or the calculation was not to overshadow the name of Ashvat Marimutu as the author of the original idea. In any case, he appears as a screenwriter in all three films. Naturally, the stories will be identical everywhere. It would seem to give dubbing in different languages and there is nothing to bother, and no. Apparently, Sethupathi sprinkled a handful of his luck to Ashvata, since he was so beaten the first time. And this is not a joke, but the already noted fact that if the director-debutant removes Vijay, then this film receives ratings and reviews are good.
But back to the story. History turned out to be not just a fantastic comedy, but quite a decent philosophical parable on the theme “what we do not keep, when we lose, we cry.” The elements of fantasy were time travel and God, who acted not in the usual role of the Teacher, but in the role of a simple listener. It is difficult, by the way, to associate all the actors who played in this image with a real or even unreal God. If in "Lucky Man" any other visual associations with the gods held, here even parry on this score did not begin. To me, taking Sethupathi as God was either a deliberate banter or a rash act. He was more like a swindler from a left-wing office, robbing gullible poor people who are led to the attractive smile of this thief. After all, in fact, he did not give any good advice to the guy. And yet, even with such inconsistencies to the stated image, Seth remains unattainable for imitation. Even in such a small role, watching him play is a pleasure. As for his colleague, Punita Rajkumar, the actor was more in tune with God. He also had his charisma and open smile. Unfortunately, Punit didn’t live to see the day Lucky Man came out. The actor died in 2021 of a heart attack. Therefore, the ending of the film came out a little sad, when they said goodbye to him in the credits, it was somehow not up to fun.
Despite the identity of the plots in technical terms, in fact, a lot depended on the actors. I have already said that history has a philosophical connotation. So, he is perceived with different performers in different ways. It seemed to me that the actors were more soulful in Lucky Man. For example, Krishna was more emotional than Ashok Selvan. But here I liked Ritika Singh better as Anu. By the way, the girl before becoming an actress, was engaged in kickboxing, and with her you can often see movies on sports themes. And yes, in her debut year, she was paired with Seth in the film Aandavan Kattalai. The film also became a commercial success. In general, Hritika started with the right partnership and continued to move in the right direction. Well, in the role of Mira, I liked Roshni Prakash (LM). The fact is that Vani Bhojan was like a shadow of Rhythiki. There are such faceless actresses who, without charisma and individuality, dissolve in caste, and even memories of them do not remain. This is exactly the case. Finally, I will mention a friend of the main characters. Sha Ra here against Nagabhushan. I was more interested in the last one, although I will not say that they were some kind of super-duper game. In general, despite the fact that in the cast I like, the advantage is on the side of Lucky Man, this did not affect the overall impression of the films.
The main thing here was the presentation of the material. It’s not often that I see Sandalwood movies, and I was pleasantly surprised that they, too, make quite high-quality films. The Indian south is quite extensive, with beautiful nature, as can be seen from the example of these films shot in two different states. So, in addition to a good instructive story, you will also find a colorful journey through the Indian expanses. By the way, I recommend looking at all the options. Soon the Teluga version of “Ori Devuda” will be pulled up, where Ashvat himself will again direct. He really got a universal plot, which can be reviewed many times and will not get bored, and then the actors and locations are all different, in general beauty. So look with pleasure and good mood for everyone!
