My headline says that those people who long before this film, were familiar with the work of the beautiful Megan Fox, remember the level of her acting. In fact, for this she was signed, her face is a miracle, which at least somehow, bad or bad, but makes you watch this film. But of course I think there will be many who will hurry up and in absentia nominate her for golden raspberries. Well, maybe they'll be right. The film as a whole impresses this wonderful award.
And when you look closely, you realize that the film even has, what no social load and easy meaning. But the graphics, ill-considered staging, and excessive pathos, completely spoil everything.
I can’t say that specifically in this picture Megan puts all 100, but I can’t say that only 10.
He can play roles and that’s the main thing.
As for the film, it is unfortunately very passable, which is clear from the general assessment. I put it purely in the background, and I had no desire to rewind to the end or just turn it off, which certainly does not speak of the absolute failure of the picture.
Of course, there are a lot of disadvantages in this picture, and Megan is called to save her.
It is also clear that the film takes on a lot in terms of social load and does not take it out at all.
If they had worked through all this and increased the budget, such a failure could have been avoided.
For a moment, I even thought about “Tears of the Sun.”
If desired, you could do something at least remotely similar. But of course, these are different universes. And my sick fantasy.
The film touches on such topics as genocide and poaching. Here also threw the theme of a strong warlike woman who commands white, black and Asian, which is quite relevant.
(but Jennifer Garner is certainly far from her, in terms of belligerence and incomparability in action films), all these important topics in the film are absolutely not disclosed, it is very noticeable how they were sewn with white threads.
The tape is slightly below average, of course, but the play of actors is less, not to say that it is right in the red zone, as well as the assessment.
A typical game of the main characters in such films, when they get into everything that moves as accurately as possible, without much difficulty and from the hip.
The enemy only shoots cigarettes well.
This phrase I borrowed from the next review, it's just bravo, it's better not to say.
The film is more like a solid 5.0
If not for the graphics in the film, I think it would be just five.
Unfortunately, it's a couple hundred bucks worth of graphics. Fortunately, there are few.
And that's the film's biggest problem, lack of budget or too much salary for Meghan. I think both of them are at once.
I wonder, after seeing what Megan paid?
I will not advise you to watch, but those who love films about Africa, sultry savannah with wild lions, and shootings from time to time, on the margin with running, maybe this film will go once.
A regular low-cost action movie. There is dynamism, drama and dialogue, in the break from chases and shootings too.
Not to say that it is absolutely terrible, I watched and worse.
P.S.
And by the way, who wants a good action movie, memorable for many years "Tears of the Sun" for you will be an undoubted discovery, who has not heard or watched before, I highly recommend. I want to call Agent Kay and erase my memory so I can watch it again.
Also, for those who love warlike women, “Kingdom”, “Crimson Mint”, “Agent Eve” is very recommended for viewing.
I was hoping for something in the style of “Ghost and Darkness” 1996. It was done dynamically, but... how cheap and very stupid. Three in the ranking - merit only M. Fox ) , mainly from the male audience.
A movie about a lioness tearing up special forces and about Megan Fox, who tears up lioness.
The problems of the film Leonitsa / Rogue in Russia began with localizers. For some reason, they didn’t look for the correct translation of the word Rogue, and gave the name, probably based on what they saw in the trailer. As they say, what I see, I sing about it.
If Jaws and Aliens were released these days, we would know them as Shark and Alien. However, the film Lioness is unlikely to ever become a classic to worry much about its title.
The second problem was the trailer, which formed incorrect expectations of a certain horror, such as Jaws on land. I immediately knew that there would be entertainment in the spirit of typical comedy action movies with meaningless chases, shooting, explosions and stereotypical heroes with flat jokes. So I waited for the film without any illusions.
Do not expect from the film Lioness / Rogue sophisticated drama, great acting or mesmerizing special effects. I wanted to see a beautiful woman with a machine gun and see the bloody murders. I got what I wanted and was completely satisfied. There are no sexual minorities in this film. And despite the fact that the plot takes place in Africa, there is not a single black hero. The film does not press the brain with modern trends of social justice and tolerance.
The Lioness/Rogue movie is a lot of fun. Scrimmers, shootings and brutal murders are seen with a smile. There are a couple of tense scenes where the filmmakers tried to make a drama, fortunately they quickly ended. And, of course, puzzled by the finale. However, it is made in the spirit of the whole film, light and simple.
I liked the character played by Megan Fox. She kills men with firearms, not breaks their bones in hand-to-hand combat. The heroine of the film looks moderately aggressive and sexy, but I did not mind that after so many adventures the t-shirt on the actress broke somewhere, giving the audience a little fan service.
In my opinion, the movie The Lioness/Rogue is a bit worse than Tyler Rake, purely in terms of staging shootouts. Clearly, most of the budget went to computer graphics with the lioness. At the same time, the film The Lioness is much better than the film The Immortal Guard with Charlize Theron, which crushes all modern trends, and is also not particularly good in terms of plot and action.
The film Lioness was not lucky to go on screens in the midst of a pandemic that made it unnecessary to go for simple entertainment without semantic load. However, this film is worth watching on some streaming service.
Of course, the film The Lioness has drawbacks that do not allow you to call it a masterpiece, but he does not claim this.
The lioness is entertainment in which you can look at the beautiful Megan Fox and how the cruel lioness deals with brave warriors.
Megan Fox broke into the big cinema thanks to director Michael Bay and producer Steven Spielberg, who entrusted her with the role of the main character in the high-octane blockbuster Transformers. It doesn’t matter what or how she played. Fox was in a dazzling appearance, which fell in love with guys around the world. Since then, Megan starred in the sequel to Transformers, managed to quarrel with Michael Bay, then reconcile with him again, become a mother and periodically appear in gloss. But her film career after “Transformers” is a strange sight that does not fit into the biography of a real star.
The actress often takes on risky projects, she is not particularly called major studios, but the audience still love Megan Fox and are ready to appreciate any movie in which she starred. It is because of the participation of Fox in many ways and was noticed in General, few interesting film “the lioness”, which in any other situation would be released around the world immediately on video, but the participation of a prominent actress gave him comparative fame.
The action takes place in Africa, where a squad of mercenaries led by Sam, played by our star. A bunch of pumped-up men follows a fragile girl who does not understand how, but shows amazing alignment and agility despite her not the best physical training. The task of mercenaries is to save the daughter of the governor, but the main problem is not in enemy fighters, but in animals that live nearby.
Not far from the operation of the squad Sam is an old lion farm, from which a lioness recently escaped. Now it preys on everyone within reach, and the mercenaries have a hard time, because they are confronted by a real killing machine, poorly drawn with computer graphics. But pumped actors have to do their best to portray fear, and we probably have fun.
It was comical to put Megan Fox at the head of mercenaries, but the calculation of the producers can be understood. She attracts attention to herself, and everything else does not matter. The film looks very serious, no special smiles and jokes, and it makes it much more fun. The creators could not play the normal irony, and since they have a frankly primitive plot, then nothing but caustic laugh the whole story with Sam does not cause.
The creators could not work with real lions. No, well, in some places, it seems like animals look real when they filmed real animals. But when the lioness needs to actively act on the script, it is clear that the graphics are quite cheap and this loses the last rudiments of plausibility. However, nothing should be surprised.
“The Lioness” turns out to be another passing project, which if you miss attention, you will definitely not lose anything. Well, unless you consider yourself a fan of talent Megan Fox, then you may like it. I can’t recommend the film personally.
I can't believe it's a Megan Fox movie and not a company movie 'asylum.' Everything is bad in it, the only thing that saves him from failure at the box office is the loud name of the actress and the time when he came out, during the pandemic, people were hungry for new films.
But it's bad, the special effects of this movie will make you think it's a 2000s movie, especially the lioness' animation looks wretched.
Dialogues are saturated with such nonsense and pathos, pathos absolutely inappropriate. I sincerely believe that the dialogue, like the plot itself, was written by Greta Thunberg.
The film touches on the themes of genocide and poaching. This is the theme of a strong woman. But they are absolutely not disclosed, it directly feels like they were sewn with white threads, only because it is now fashionable to raise these topics in the cinema.
It's not a stupid horror movie, it's a socially significant movie! Well, well.
The behavior of the main characters causes frank irritation, not one main character does not cause sympathy. I am personally tired of the main characters who shoot with 100% accuracy, and their opponents can only shoot cigarettes in the school toilet.
I advise you to skip this film, review it better ' Ghost and Darkness' or ' Death among icebergs.'
Do you hate poachers that kill innocent animals? Do you like to watch lions kill innocent people? One way or another, “The Lioness” is a film that kind of answers the above two questions, and kind of a film project that tells a completely different story. It is easy to understand the idea of the creators: “The Lioness” was supposed to become an unusual film, perhaps unique in its kind and for the genre of the action movie as a whole, so M. J. Bassett showed interest in it (the author of “On Death Watch”, “Savage”, as well as “Solomon Kane” with the sequel “Silent Hill”) and beauty Megan Fox, whose love in the world of cinema let and fade, still able to melt the fire in our loins. In fact, the comeback of this couple did not work out, since “Lioneous” was a failure: it is clear that neither the budget was invested in the project, nor the gloss of the conceptuality was not brought, which is almost criminal for such a promising film idea.
The African savannah is great. Unless, of course, to touch some lost run poachers who exterminate elephant cubs, lion cubs and other exotic for the Russian eye animals. The lions escaped from them, so other bandits, who are also engaged in kidnapping, do not know about this. To them came a detachment of mercenaries led by Samantha, whose appearance is too attractive for a battle-hardened woman. It is not hard to guess that she is played by Megan Fox. In general, the brawl begins in the best traditions of militants of category B: mercenaries try to save hostages by shooting off bandits, and then the notorious unnaturally computer lioness joins, as if she had left the game for PlayStation 2.
The main problem of the "Lioneous" is almost the complete lack of atmosphere. Ah, Samantha, a born soldier who has gone through the most terrifying missions of a predator, throughout the film somehow looks lost, as if this is her first mission. Perhaps, from the point of view of the script, it is this option and would go to the "Lioneous" benefit, because the viewer would at least be able to associate himself with her. Such problems with the central character are reflected both in the quality of the acting (and Megan Fox was never a strong actress) and in the overall quality of the production. There is a grand misscast; instead of the impending type Charlize Theron from the Immortal Guard, the viewer is given a supermodel in overexposure. Her team fits her: people, according to the plot with a certain occupation, can not act professionally, but only run like headless chickens, moan, swear and screw up. Those whom they “rescue” are no better: instead of gratitude, suddenly, yesterday’s hostages whine and complain.
As for the film itself, everything here is not implemented as it should. In almost every aspect, “The Lioness” misses: sometimes critically, sometimes not, but almost nothing in the goal (that is, in the idea of the authors) does not fall. Like the action itself. In the plot, people either drive down the savannah and shoot, run and shoot, or hide behind shelters and shoot. Oh, yes, the lioness scares and eats gnarly fools. More, in principle, nothing happens: endless “battle” scenes are ways to drive into lethargy. The same applies to humor: it seems to be, like in any self-respecting action movie, but in general, jokes are kind of bland.
The lioness contains both strengths and weaknesses. The strong include continuous action, the ever-beautiful Megan Fox. Weak moments, alas, outweigh the scales, since most of the special effects look simply wretched (especially the lioness), because of the night shootings, it is often difficult to realize what is happening, civilians complain, and the heroes-fighters act illogically. At the same time, of course, conceptualism suffers no less strongly: the main message “Lioneous” is to treat, say, with kindness to animals, and this despite the fact that the lion kills most of all people according to the scenario. Strangely, what hurts even more is the apparent immunity from criticism, at least among Western journalists shaking for their jobs: The fact is that The Lioness is filmed by a trans woman, starring a strong woman, and the script was also written by a woman. You should not focus on the person, but still need to mature, as Kozma Prutkov says, in the root: “Lioneous” in all respects loses to another fresh film about the rescue of hostages – “Tyler Reik”, in terms of the heroine – a cool mercenary – “Immortal Guard”, and in terms of the evil predator – “Beast Fury” with Nicholas Cage, which is a sentence in itself.

One day a blonde, brunette, Asian, black and white enter the bar. No, it's not the beginning of the joke, it's the beginning of the movie. And this company doesn't go to a bar, it goes to the lair of African smugglers-poachers. A strong brunette woman commands a squad of mercenaries: several white men, one Asian, one black and one blonde woman. For complete and final sabotage, the Negro has a tattoo on his shoulder in Hebrew.
Megan Fox, a burning brunette commander, a true warrior. Skillful makeup hardly betrays her among the savannah. The uniform is selected with taste: the pants tighten the already noticeably expanded back of the former sex symbol, and strands of black hair as if accidentally fall on the face from under the headdress. Meghan's face is a masterpiece in itself. A masterpiece of the best plastic surgeons on the planet. Meghan can only frown at the camera and command her racially and genderly diverse squad with a determined voice.
Under the leadership of Megan, the group heroically fights, with accurate shots laying black poachers on the ground. As in any film with American special forces, blacks go head-to-head with kalashes - and smart Americans shoot aptly at the target, generously handing out headshots. Bad guys with AK, but for some reason else in Adidas knitwear. Adidas + AK knitwear is the famous Balkan style, Slavic fashion. The Negroes never gave three stripes, but the costume designer of this film generously mixed together images of the Balkan war and African motifs. Good guys and strong women, of course, are armed with AR systems, only one mercenary has a Jewish version of AK.
Meghan fights skillfully: despite the collimator sight, the mechanical folding whole and the fly are raised - the whole covers the sight display - but will that stop the skillful warrior? Strong woman Megan in some scenes skillfully wields a knife - blacks can only be puzzled and immediately die.
The African in Adidas knitwear shows miracles of combat effectiveness: accurately shoots an RPG from a car moving along the bumps into a flying target. At the same time, the shot is directed from the car from the bottom up - in reality, when fired, the red-hot gases from the back of the RPG would burn the car and hurt people, but in this epic movie such "#39; trifles" & #39; do not matter.
Scenario crutches in the form of rescue from the trap by jumping into the river, the monologue of the villain in the final is available. About such trifles as dried clothes after leaving the river - and not worth talking against the background of the above. Separately, it is worth noting the painted lioness: the budget was clearly not enough, and the lioness in motion looks like a clumsy doll in the hands of a drunken puppeteer. ' Shots' guns are also painted, and the sound of shooting from AK does not correspond to reality.
Horror films and thrillers with these or other animals as the villains & #39; have always been quite rare representatives of cinema. Very rarely appearing as an expensive Hollywood project. Instead, it’s almost always a B movie or worse. Another representative of the genre and became this film directed by M. J. Bassett.
The events of this film revolve around a squad of mercenaries who go on a mission to Africa to free the governor’s daughter from hostages. Still, having left numerous pursuers, the detachment finds refuge in one of the lion farms, on which an emergency occurred not so long ago. One of the lioness broke free and killed several people, and now she decided to organize a hunt for armed mercenaries.
The plot of this tape turned out to be eerily template and predictable. Something similar, about a group of mercenaries or military who were in the wrong place and at the wrong time and fell victim to a dangerous predator, can be found in a huge number of different paintings. Starting ' Predator' John Carpenter and ending ' Animal Fury' with Nicholas Cage. Only the details have been changed, but everything develops even too traditionally, and therefore predictably. Dilutes the narrative humor, but sometimes it seems too inappropriate. Saving the situation with just a few unexpected plot twists. Especially the crocodile scene in the river.
M. J. Bassett is not a talented director. 'Solomon Kane' became a faded parody of 'Van Helsing' and the sequel 'Silent Hill' fans still remember with trembling hearts. Not to mention the fact that after two false starts, Bassett turned into another faceless serial director. Here in this film she demonstrates extremely mediocre directing.
In my opinion, the film breaks into two separate genres. On the one hand, before us is a full-fledged survival thriller with a tense atmosphere and suspense. On the other hand, a rank-and-file Category B fighter with an abundance of explosions, gunfights and computer-drawn blood. At the same time, both genres are very roughly related to each other and slightly rejected. The atmosphere of the thriller lubricates the emphasis on action, and as an action film can not surprise. Since the action scenes are very boring, and the visual effects of the lioness look scant even by budget standards. Not to mention how much the dynamics sags in such an eventful scenario.
Megan Fox has never been a strong actress. Almost always appearing in the images of beauties and fatal women, as well as focusing on their bright appearance. This film is no exception. Fox is absolutely not perceived in the image of a cool mercenary. However, the bright appearance of the actress partially smoothes this drawback. The rest of the actors played absolutely ' exactly ' and to say that either bad or good about them is impossible.

The lioness is another passing representative of the genre of a survival thriller about the confrontation of a group of mercenaries with a dangerous and bloodthirsty lioness. The plot turned out to be the most template, the director can not boast of either the atmosphere of the thriller or the spectacle, and the film itself seems monotonous and bland.
Megan Fox is 34. Just think. I am sure that most of her ingrained in the memory as a stunning Michaela in love with a bad boy and running next to the huge Transformers. Since then, 13 years have passed, and absolutely nothing outstanding actress could not give. Yes, there was a repetition of the role in “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” – an exact copy of the heroine from “Transformers”, only wrapped in the role of a journalist. Or to participate in the Romcoms where she became a hostage of her image.
The film tells about the events in one of the areas of Africa, where a group of mercenaries led by a girl Sam (Megan Fox) tries to pull off an operation to rescue the daughter of the governor, taken hostage by militant militants.
The picture is not shot by the debutant of the directorial field of M.J. Bassett “Salomon Kane”, “Silent Hill 2”, “Da Vinci Demons”, “Iron Fist”, “Altered Carbon” are notable films and series to which the director is directly related. Not a bad record did not help the director to protect his attention from this film. Having a visible result of his work, Basset decided to participate in the uncertainty. The picture is not enough that it has a passing plot, a passing cast, passing graphics, it manages to get confused in its own presentation.
To some extent, the creators tried to play on several platforms of genres at the same time, but at the same time, they did not even come close to appear on any of them. Yes, there is a plan with an armed rebuff in the form of militants, there is a failed operation that leads to irreversible consequences, but as soon as the story begins to stabilize, the creators care that the viewer allegedly does not get excited about the standard moves in the development of history, and this begins to resemble the creation of a scab in a bad sense.
Megan Fox plays the commander of the mercenary squad. In the trailer, it looked ridiculous as a thin, make-up girl trying to keep her balance when performing any tricks, or simply actions related to movement with a gun in her hand. The unrealistic nature of events and undermines the attitude of the team to its heroine, a plastic agreement with orders and blindly following such a leader does not give comfort when watching.
The milestone in my opinion was to make one of the main characters - a lioness. At the beginning of the film there is a preface, simply put, the inclusion of an animal in the plot. But as soon as the film switches to the main story, the misunderstanding of the shown from the beginning does not cause questions, and over time and completely disappears from memory.
With a grin, watching the disgustingly painted lioness, and actors who wriggle in pain when attacked, you want to see this, and not repeat it when watching next time. To make a lot of plot throws, but not to cope with the minor disclosure of any of them is a creative “victory”.
I agree, it is the easiest to scold the film. And the pros need to be pinpointed. They're gone. Whatever the twist, the film turned out to be stuffy, uneven, straightforward, without ambitious and worst of all to see the beauty of Megan Fox, it is unclear from what agreed to this adventure.
