If you’ve tuned in to a horror movie filled with boo-effects, then this movie isn’t for you. But this is a very atmospheric, rather gloomy tape - and I enjoyed watching!
Art and his pregnant wife arrive at the house of his father, with whom he has not spoken for many years. It seems that the father refused to treat the mother of the hero, relying only on prayers - well, it does not matter.
In any case, we find ourselves in the midst of Orthodox Jews: Shabbat, prayers, our own, specific dishes on the table, etc. Moreover, the father is the owner of a funeral home only for Jews with his own specifics; and even he lives in an old house with dark panels, dim lights, etc.
So the atmosphere is appropriate. And the film begins very ominously. . .
There is a sacred circle, and ashes, and an amulet, and spontaneous combustion. And also spells, rituals... Everything I love about this kind of movie!
I want to note the play of actors depicting “Orthodox old men” – beautiful, very atmospheric! And Abiza, who is taking children, is a very sinister figure.
Arthur himself (Nick Blood) quite fit into the action, but his pregnant wife (actress Emily Weisman) pumped up - an expressionless, amimic face, inability to express the simplest emotions, etc.). It’s a shame because the movie is very interesting. How it will end is impossible to predict. What will win, good or evil?
To watch or not to watch, decide for yourself. Well, I do not regret watching the movie - to the mood just right!
