I would give this epigraph to this film: “The feat of some, it is always the idiocy of others.” The film is shot in the worst traditions of modern Russian military film. Raw script, lack of a clear story, cardboard characters, with completely undisclosed characters, the actors do not understand what and how to play them, hence the complete misunderstanding of the logic of the characters' actions. The absence of military consultants in the work on the film, as a result of absolutely unrealistic combat actions that do not create action. The special effects are implausible, frankly drawn. The concept: “I am the author, I see it so”, in all its glory. And he sees the regular Chinese army as a bunch of homeless people, and the American one as a gang of drunken cowboys from the Wild West. The Chinese have not yet entered the battle, and already look like beaten dogs, in torn uniforms. And the relationship commander - subordinate, very disliked. I have seen a very servile attitude towards any superior in Chinese films before, but here in the army it is presented simply in an exaggerated form. The principle of “I am the boss, you are a fool” in action. Red Chinese commanders behave with subordinates in a very boorish way, they are not considered people. And subordinates, instead of shooting such cattle in the back, grovel and take all the bullying for granted, taking out anger on inferiors in rank. The enemies of the Americans are caricatured. Instead of smoothly shaved young pilots, all old drunkards with huge beards. At the same time, aircraft fly at high altitude, so as not to be exposed to anti-aircraft guns, and all pilots are wearing oxygen masks. That is, how to wear a gas mask, or a respirator, no one in the film crew knows about the tightness of the mask, as well as the ban on beards have not heard anything. For a girl costume designer, an oxygen mask, this is apparently such an accessory, like a ladies' handbag, the pilots simply wore it for beauty. American pilots drink whiskey throughout the flight, and especially actively, from the throat, they begin to lay directly above the target. The overall level of the film is below the board.
The film is supposed to celebrate the feat of the Chinese army. How they despite everything crossed the bridge from China to Korea across the border river. But I only saw people being sent to slaughter without any anti-aircraft cover. They know that the crossing is constantly being bombed. But the heroes are just drunken American pilots. They went back to the bridge and bombed it. And at the cost of just two outdated fighter-bombers and the death of two pilots, they were able to kill 589 Chinese infantrymen in a day, and even more were wounded, and they went straight to the hospital instead of the front line. For me, this is a very successful exchange for Americans, and the film is simply anti-Chinese. I don’t recommend watching this Chinese thing.
