Artist Anna (Kristen Bell) lives alone. After the death of her daughter, she abandoned her career and her marriage fell apart. Every day, Anna buys wine, sits in a comfortable chair at the window and ... drinks, sometimes snacking on alcohol pills, as a result of which she often suffers from hallucinations. And that's how time passes. In a house across the street settles widower Neil with daughter Emma. Befriending the neighbors, Anna realizes that Neil is attractive to her, but it turns out that he has a girlfriend - Lisa. One evening, sitting in her favorite spot, Anna witnesses Lisa’s murder. Or is it just another hallucination?
To begin with, attracted by the teaser, I started watching the series without knowing it was a parody. Yes, it happens.
Snorted to the very end, wondering how primitive, banal and stupid the plot of this series. And then it came to me. That's right, better late than never.
“The Woman in the House in Front of the Girl in the Window” is an absolute confirmation of Kristen Bell’s comedic talent. How she sips the wine! What a sight!
Of course, an ironic project, with notes of black humor.
It's just not my type.
A cool and exciting mini-series that “immerses” in intrigue, mystery and surprise. This series is very exciting.
One of the main attractions of this series is its unusual and non-standard plot. It tells the story of a young woman named Anna who moves into a new house and discovers that a mysterious girl lives opposite her window. From the very beginning, questions arise: who is she, what is behind her strange behavior, and what secrets does this woman keep? And you, along with this girl, plunge into the search for answers and experience tension and intrigue throughout the series.
The acting in this mini-series is commendable. The main characters, performed by talented actors, embody their characters 100%. Some scenes are so breathless. The main character even became my personal idol with this unchanging glass of wine in her hands, hahhaa.
However, there are scenes sometimes too slow, and it can sometimes reject. But nevertheless, the series seeks to maintain intrigue until the last moment, which can cause some anxiety and dissatisfaction among those who prefer a faster development of events.
Overall, I liked this series. I start with actors, finishing with cool sets. The movie looks easy, but again, as I said earlier, some scenes are slow.
In reviews write that this series is a parody of the film “Woman in the window” with Amy Adams. I didn’t like the Adams movie at all. In my opinion, this is "Woman in the Window" parody of the TV series "Woman in the House opposite the girl in the window." The series is much better and more interesting. I watched all 8 episodes at once. A decent movie.
At the beginning of the review, it is customary to briefly describe the plot, but you know it, because the only thing the series has been doing for almost four hours is maliciously and not funny mocking The Woman in the Window. Yes, the book is not a fountain, and the film was a failure at all ... but when I did not like, I write reviews on Kinopoisk, why make a whole movie?
Once again, we have a woman with a difficult past who drinks all day long and peeks out of boredom at her neighbors. When she sees Crime, she begins to doubt her own mind. Interesting? Nope. We’ve seen this movie before and we know how it ends.
Perhaps originally wanted to shoot a parody of the whole genre - like "Zombie named Sean" or "Get knives", but the idea did not go further - scenes from other films copied, and humor was never brought.
There is no plot in the film, there are no characters, there is no beautiful picture either. He can't make fun of others. What's left?
Sweetheart Kristen Bell?
I'm not objective, I just love her after Veronica Mars & #39. Other actors do not raise their hand because they have nothing to play. They are the righteous, the righteous, and the righteous. The film did not allow anyone to unlock their potential, because falsehood is embedded in the conditions of the task.
And it's nothing like eight episodes. Put the creators all the stamps in a standard hour and a half, maybe it would be fun. But they stretch each scene, completely copying the original - why do you start to doubt: ' Are they still joking or already serious?'
You could take some time trying to guess where the episode came from, but this is "Woman in the window, back in the window, back in the window ..." Oh, I think it's on the train! And again a woman in the window!
The soundtrack is not noticed, the camera work is ctrl+c ctrl+v. I struggle to describe anything else in this film - but everything in it is either secondary or that could not be copied - frankly bad.
In addition to the cute Kristen Bell was pleased with the acting of the stuffed possum, I will follow the development of his career.
The woman in the house opposite the girl in the window: Season 1
The Woman in the House opposite the Girl in the Window tells the story of the artist Anna, who can not recover from the murder of her daughter and divorce from her husband. In fact, without leaving the house and abusing the use of wine, Anna burns through one day after another. However, everything changes when a pretty neighbor with a charming daughter moves into the house opposite. Anna falls in love with him and begins to feel that life is getting better. But soon she witnesses a brutal murder ... or did she think?
The naked eye can see that the script of this series was written with an obvious glance towards “Women in the Window”, “Women on the Train” and “Paranoia”. In fact, it’s a hodgepodge of ideas for all three projects, rather than a full and independent story. Hence, it is not surprising that when watching the series now and then there is a feeling of déjà vu. It does not play for the benefit of some length of narrative. The series has been rocking for quite a long time and the rapid events begin to occur only closer to the finale of the second series. When you cut the narrative at least in half or put it in the framework of a full-length movie, the series would benefit from this. However, the series looks more than good.
The authors of the series quite competently promote the intrigue and detective component. Every now and then throwing the audience another plot twist going nowhere and another “fake” suspect. Leading the audience to a really unexpected finale and certainly an unexpected killer, whose identity is definitely very difficult to predict and for such a bold approach, the authors of the series definitely need to pay tribute. Except that embarrassing enough cheap Clifhanger in the final with a possible continuation, but with a different story and the transformation of the main character into a kind of Nancy Drew.
The series also looks unusual at the level of tone. In contrast to the above three films and contrary to the basic rules of the genre, the authors of the series “Woman in the house opposite the girl in the window” rely on a glossy, colorful and light enough, and not filled with gloomy and suspense atmosphere. Only increasing the pressure closer to the last few episodes of the season.
The main role performer Kristen Bell perfectly fell into the image of a broken and suffering from alcoholism housewife. Moreover, giving a fairly convincing and really strong acting. Not to mention the equally worthy performance of Tom Riley, Cameron Britton and other actors. Except that Michael Ely demonstrated a frankly lazy game and the traditional role for himself, which he plays from film to film and Samsara Lily Yett did not stretch her character in the last series of the season.

The woman in the house opposite the girl in the window is far from perfect, but not a bad “wine detective”. The authors of the series did not come up with something new and collected some ideas of such films as “Woman in the window”, “Woman on the train” and “Paranoia”. Nevertheless, the authors of the series managed to submit the genre of a detective thriller in a rather unexpected tone and give at least a curious series, which is worth watching once.
It just so happened that I watched this mini-series right after 'Women in the Window'. And if the film with Amy Adams did not make a special impression on me, then the project with the participation of Kristen Bell liked much more.
The story is about the same - a woman struggling to cope with loss spends almost all her free time at home, with a glass of wine in one hand and a book in the other. But in her measured, albeit not quite healthy life at once burst new neighbors in the face of an attractive and lonely young father with a young daughter. And all nothing, but soon Anna becomes a witness to the murder in the house of new acquaintances, watching what is happening from her window.
First of all, I would like to note the format of the mini-series - eight episodes of half an hour each provide the maximum degree of involvement in what is happening. The division into small episodes allows you to retain the interest of the viewer, while fully revealing all the storylines. Each series has its own internal dynamics, which would be more difficult to maintain as part of a feature film or longer episodes. At the same time, the atmosphere of the series turned out to be lighter than that of 'Women in the window', which also adds points in favor of this project.
Kristen Bell deserves a special mention. The main character in her performance turned out to be very lively, bright and charismatic. In many ways, it is thanks to the actress that it is interesting to watch the events taking place.
Verdict: 'Woman in the house opposite the girl in the window' is a fascinating and worthwhile mini-series that perfectly combines detective, drama and notes of humor. A beautiful picture, a charming heroine and a pleasant atmosphere are attached.
Anna, after losing her daughter, never recovered from the injury. In the eyes of colleagues, he fell. She still works, but from time to time comes back to the past comforts herself by staring secludedly at new neighbors who have moved into the house opposite. Looks like an ordinary daughter Emma and a charming father Neil. No wife. One night, watching them, she sees a murder taking place. The heroine is trying to get to the truth. But was it real or was it a figment of her imagination? When the past is so similar to the present, where does the future come from? Nowhere. You just get stuck in the present, with your past.
Actors: Kristen Bell, whose performance is worthy of all praise, was able to revive this project with her participation. Despite the fact that her character is trying to cope with the difficulties in life, she still wants to get to the truth about what is happening outside the walls of another house. And along the way, dealing with their problems.
Also remembered is the neighbor's daughter Emma performed by Samsara Yett - Emma, the nine-year-old daughter of Neil, selling cookies, for the badge of honor at school.
Everything else: mini-series, is a kind of parody of detective thrillers, directed by Rachel Ramras. The series consists of eight episodes. During this time, you can enjoy fantasies, in the form of a pop-up daughter and flashbacks of the heroine Bell, for whom the past is stuck in the present, so it is difficult for her to live on.
Impressions: Last time, I was wildly impressed by a painting by Daniel Mallory, whose picture I watched with ecstasy as if I were drinking wine with the heroine. Of course, I can't say "The Girl on the Train" was any worse. Nope. She was interesting, too. I don’t know what bribes these pictures with old ladies experiencing the loss of loved ones. But they have a special wine magic. And I watched with ecstasy the heroine as she was tormented, as if you were also sitting opposite the window, enjoying the lives of others.
NETFLIX recently released a new series from NETFLIX: 'The Woman in the House opposite the Girl in the Window'. If you’ve ever liked Veronica Mars, you’ll be delighted to see Kristen Bell return to the path of detective.
So, our heroine Anna, aka Sexy Anna, aka Veri Sexy Anna, got involved in another investigation. By the way, Kristen Bell is really in great shape, although the plot could be remembered.
What awaits us: a lot of casserole, a lot of wine, very, very much wine, flashbacks, increasing suspense - crossed out - absurd. He's a big plus. This is a feature of the series, it can be played in 'Bingo!', finding references to well-known psychological thrillers, starting with the title.
The series is very ironic, saturated with black humor. Caste is not bad, Sexy Anna Fire, Tom Riley is trusted every time, the others also cope with their tasks. Glenn Close needs no comment.
And finally, I can say, the devil in the details, this is both about interesting, barely perceptible Easter eggs, and about questions that still, I think, will arise at the end of a sane person: '. What about her?'
Another plus of the series is a short timekeeping, 8 episodes, which can be mastered in just 3.5 hours. If you do not know how to kill the evening, open a bottle of red and go!

I couldn't help but write a review. I rarely do this (mainly because I see the unfairness and underestimation of this or that movie/series, etc.). In this case, I believe that the current estimate well can not correspond to reality (too low). Here we go.
I was interested in this series even when it was listed on the shooting list of Kristen Bell. I always liked the actress. She is a wonderful comedian with vivid facial expressions and lively emotions, which is very attractive in her. Love came in 2016, after In a Better World. And the rest of the actors cause only sympathy. Especially remembered such a short, but bright role of Brenda Ku talent.
And here comes the mini-series (which always bribes me) "The woman in the house opposite the girl in the window." As far as I know, in Russia, the series started very well and overtook many new products released on the platform at this time. But at the same time he was with a rather low rating and not the most flattering reviews and comments. As you know, how many people, so many opinions – everyone has their own point of view on something, so you need to look!
Initially, you need to understand that this series is a parody of mystical and psychological thrillers. Parody. With elements of “black” humor, hyperbolization and highlighting stereotypes (bright highlighting). At the same time, having a quite serious storyline of a high-quality modern criminal detective with all attached.
Each series goes very quickly and I want to continue. The series can surprise and really confuse. For me, everything became obvious only by the end of the penultimate series ... which usually happens faster.
Play actors does not cause questions, as well as the picture with the script. There is a disadvantage in revealing the characters and destinies of the characters. I lacked that depth. But this is not the kind of show where this depth should (and is important!) be. And it would be great to hear good/appropriate music (a la from Baran bo Odar’s Darkness).
Separately, it is still worth noting the script. Each series does not last long, but the saturation of events looks like something longer. The thoughtfulness and causation are very pleasing. Everything is concise and complete.
Since the first series, if you expect something special and conceived by you, it does not come true. What we are used to seeing in classic thrillers is, of course, but what the writers / director add, becomes, apparently, a trigger for fans of the genre.
In total, for me, this series flew quickly, pleasantly and under red wine with pasta. The stars aligned. I won’t be able to call it the best or favorite, but I highly recommend watching dinner.
