Police officer Denisov is investigating The railway detective "Additional arrives on the second way" film studio "Tajikfilm" can be rightfully proud. And although this movie is made for television, "Additional" is a vivid proof that in a huge database of TV movies you can still find these small pearls.
Major of the transport police Denisov goes on vacation. A corpse was found on the train. Vacation remains on the horizon, but in the meantime, you need to investigate who the victim is, who the killer is, whether he left this car and generally somehow figure out. To help Denisov (charming Sergei Nikonenko, a little melancholy and tired of all this police routine and witnesses who fool their heads) sent captain Kurbatov from the Tajik criminal investigation (played by co-director of the film Saido Kurbanov). Everyone suspects everyone, many are nervous, and only investigators drink kefir, eat sour cream and remain calm.
The story “Additional arrives on the second way” was written by the master transport detective Leonid Slovin, who himself worked as an investigator in the police for more than 20 years, and the policeman Denisov appears in 16 books. This film adaptation is often compared with Agatha Christie due to the similar, very familiar drama, when there is a limited circle of people, and only in the final it turns out who the killer really is.
However, this is not so much “Murder on the Orient Express”, when everyone theatrically bulges their eyes and deliberately strains all facial muscles of the face, as “Murderers in Sleeping Cars” in the spirit of more social and close to reality films by Costa Gavras or Jean-Pierre Melville, with its own style, lyrics and a touch of inexplicable sadness. After all, the basis of “Additional” is not just murder for the sake of murder and a spectacular finale with exposure, but economic crime, when criminality in a bizarre way intertwined with theft and financial fraud. The authors of the film Kurbanov and Valery Akhadov, both students of the wonderful Yefim Dzigan, actually conduct an educational program on the shadow economy of a large country - the economy that destroyed this large country.
The background is a cool camera work by Rostislav Pirumov and the work of production artist Vladimir Salimov, who work wonders in the confined spaces of the sleeping compartment, alternating the familiar interiors of the long-distance train with beautiful landscapes of fields, rivers, villages, short stops at stations and monotonous railway. The mood is added by the musical theme of Firuz Bahor in a variety of arrangements, from typical cinematic pop to atmospheric jazz.
In general, this situation is cinematic in itself, when different people of different identities - age, nationality, gender, views and so on - go somewhere by train in the night, and then there is also murder! Well, the motive of the detective on vacation is a separate interesting topic in the cinema, remember at least “Private Face” with Kuznetsov, who went with his wife to the sea, and had to investigate the murder, or Bruce Willis in “Die Hard”, who went to his wife for Christmas, and there are terrorists and villains-Godunov.
