It's hard being a son. Alexander Kleimenov is the son of a champion, a ski king, goes with his father to the competition in Cheget, goes as a spectator. Shurik himself gave hope, but now he quit the sport and is in free swimming. However, the strict father wants to return the child to the ski.
Kleimenov Jr. is called the Golden Youth. A young, talented, promising guy, at the same time a jackass. Actor Anatoly Mateshko (Ukrainian Vladimir Konkin) browsy, with cold blue eyes and pinched lips, such an apostate prince, the actor coped well, the image was successful, somehow you sympathize more with the son of the champion, doubting and mistaken than his all-knowing champion father. And the father says the main thing is all right, but it hurts pathetic and instructive tone. Somehow very persistently, almost by force, tries to return his son to the sport, constantly taking "on the weak". The film is called “Son of the champion”, but in fact there are three main characters – Kleymenov and skiers Lena Belokhvostikov and Tatiana Berezhnaya. Tatiana - this character came out interesting, voluminous and intriguing in the performance of the charming Tatiana Tashkova. Tanya is a girl with a character, a ski princess - beautiful, intelligent, can be thorny and sarcastic or friendly and sweet. She is not very lucky in competitions, but she persistently makes her way to victory under the tutelage of a modest coach. Tatiana Tashkova brought to the role not only her heartfelt Russian beauty, femininity and pleasant voice, but also a hidden nerve. The third ski hero of Leon, such Ivanushka is a fool, but not at all a fool. Provincial boy in the achievement of the goal is ready and a little lie and pout in front of the evil coach, but Lenny has a conscience and ambition. Baby-face Victor Perevalov looks a little edgy his baby face seems young and old at the same time.
We see competitions and problems of participants, but we look at it as if from the side of the main character he is both a stranger and his own in this sports world, so the script is interestingly conceived, + all sorts of sharp dialogues, catchy phrases (for example, one of the participants of the competition openly admits in an interview 'How to listen on television so friends-rivals rejoice at others' successes'). I imagine not rejoicing, or Tanya gives a rebuke to Shurik who said that there are things more important than sports: war, honor, perhaps love, There will be no war, no one will encroach on your honor and you will die without love, philosophizing. This is accompanied by spectacular ski shootings with bends, dashing descents, snow splashes, it is clear that the masters of sports skate for the actors, and this is always interesting to see. White snow, blue sky, bright costumes of skiers and fans (all imported, and not only jackets, but also the entire equipment up to ski lubrication). Shown and cheerful non-alcoholic parties where athletes and coaches relieve tension in dancing. In general, the film has a lot of different music and songs decided in a lyrical way.
Bottom line: The Son of a Champion is, of course, a ski sports film, but there are a lot of melodramas about relationships, about growing up. The actors played quality, Tatiana Tashkova is especially good. The film is beautiful, spectacular and not stupid, and a small timekeeping is only for its benefit - nothing superfluous.
