When you hear names like Terence Hill and Bud Spencer, you expect the movie to entertain you in every way possible. And it does not matter at all about the harsh Western, which was “God forgives.” I’m not” or about a light comedy like “Crime Fighters” in any case, positive emotions will prevail and perhaps, only perhaps, there will be a desire to watch other films with the participation of an inseparable couple, the benefit of them was quite a lot. But here's what it is - extensive filmography implies that you can always come across a passing, if not completely sloppy made film with the participation of your favorite actors. Jokes aside, I have never seen a famous actor whose film career could not boast of frankly weak films. So the film I reviewed put the duo Spencer and Hill pig, becoming one of the weakest in their joint work. What went wrong? A lot, if not all.
Initially, the film begins very cheerfully: the hero of Terence Hill – Kat Stevenson, once again subjected to harassment by bandits. The latter even manages to injure a charming blonde, and wound so hard that the hero of Terence Hill was forced to hide in a wandering circus. The circuses, being kind and omniscient people, gave Kat comprehensive help. Good guys, yeah. That's just Terence Hill, feeling the danger hanging over him, saddles his horse and drives away into the sunset exactly at the moment when the bandits appear on the horizon. Bandits do not stand out, except for one thing - they kill one of the circuses directly to the performance, so that others would be unaccustomed to help all sorts of vagabonds. And I must say this moment came out extremely stylish: most of the troupe, mainly girls, dance to distract the audience from the tragedy. And on the faces of the girls froze a mournful expression, let alone who does not participate in the performance. Joyful music, rambling dances, the audience clapping their hands and sad faces of artists that look at the corpse of the youngest of them. At this point, one could even feel the unity of the troupe. Unfortunately, only in this...
After this bright scene, the film begins to have problems and the crew loses all interest in what is happening. In search of the hero Hill, one of the circus performers goes, with a request to help take revenge on the bandits and while the circus performer is looking for Kat, the rest of the participants of the “chapito show” go somewhere, leaving the mobile house. This is a “friendly” family. The hero of Terence Hill is simply an angry and cynical person who does not care about the welfare of others, but what is there, he speaks about his best friend Hutch Bessie, played by Bud Spencer, mainly in a negative way and at any opportunity insults the big man. Yes, of course, in almost all the films, the characters of Terence Hill and Bud Spencer teased each other, but they were friendly hamstrings. Here, in the eyes of Terence Hill and Bud Spencer, the ice froze, as if a black cat ran between the actors, or maybe it’s all about the director who decided that this would be better for the plot? Who knows. But the fact remains that bosom friends are presented here as five minutes without blood enemies who travel together just because it is written in the script.
What else does the script say? Well, what the main plot the viewer learns at ... forty-fifth minute of the film, and it will be served so crumpled and there will be so many variables that everything that happens would pull on the plot of the series, and not a half-hour movie, if only for the simple reason that sometimes you want to exclaim: "Who are all these people!" No, seriously. There are too many characters in the picture and Terence Hill and Bud Spencer are lost against their background, simply because they are not given a good turn. The viewer is repeatedly shown some left-wing heroes, about whom we read nothing and do not know, why the film loses integrity and interest.
Not saving the situation and action scenes. No, of course, the opening shootout looked very good and for the hero Terence Hill really had to worry, but then the shootouts are built on one template: The good guys shoot, the bad guys, they don’t even have time to get guns. This not only causes yawning, but also a silent question on the lips: How was it possible to shoot the first half an hour of the picture so successfully, and then put all the developments under the tail? Only Giuseppe Colizzi knows the answer, but he won’t tell you.
Outcome? Weak, boring, and sometimes self-contradictory film, in which actors, good actors, were turned into a bunch of extras, in which the plot tried to complicate, but all they achieved was that it became simply uninteresting. Humor in the film is completely absent as a fact, and as for the combat component, it is put very weakly. So my advice to you - if you suddenly stumble upon this film, it is better to pass by, because there is nothing to catch here.
