“The family is a disease that must be treated with care. He wanted to name the novel “Family medical history”, but the publisher insisted on the traditional title “Family romance” (Vannie Benedetti is one of the characters). Watched the Italian mini-series (12 episodes about an hour) "Family novel" / Romanzo famigliare, 2018, directed by Francesca Arkibuggi. Given that the series is directed by a woman, this female view prevails, although the narrative is conducted on behalf of the aforementioned Vanni Benedetti (Marco Messeri), who faithfully served as a driver for almost 40 years for the father of the main character Gian Pietro Lieggi (Giancarlo Giannini), whose functions went far beyond his profession, he was his most trusted person, invaluable assistant and friend. The main character Emma (Vittoria Puccini) is still a rather young woman, raising along with her constantly absent husband Agostino (Guido Caprino), a naval officer, daughter Micol 16 years old. She rolls around with him in the garrisons, as is customary in the military, given the fact that she gave birth to a daughter herself when she was 16 years old, she did not fully mature, she did not receive any complete education, although she tried more than once, sometimes her daughter reasoned more sanely, she also did not succeed in the household. And suddenly her husband is summoned by her father and asks, without telling her anything, to transfer to the service in Livorno, Emma at one time quarreled with her father and did not meet with him, so such a transfer does not please her at all. The father’s request is caused by the fact that he is terminally ill, so he wants to transfer to his daughter (as it turns out later, there is a more complex scheme, not her alone) the family business, he is a very influential and wealthy person. Here and spin the carousel of this family novel, very saturated with characters, all sorts of events, often rash and stupid actions, intrigues, difficult situations, etc., I will not retell. I watched without much tension, for this kind of series he was very good. (Interestingly, I found that Italians pronounce hurrah-hurrah quite like Russians.)
