One of the right movies. I came across this movie by accident. From the very first minutes he struck me with truthfulness, excellent acting, actual reflections on human nature and actions.
A person who considers himself sane, versed in life, can be put in conditions when his pride and knowledge will be tested. A person grows up on this, gets life experience. But the experience is bitter.
The story is unhurried, but without sagging. The dialogue is calm, natural, but there is depth in all of it. As happens in well-made films, the actors play not only with their voice, but their silence and pauses are eloquent.
Compare with modern Russian historical films, in comparison, how flat the play of modern actors who heartlessly rattle their text, how they need to look back on the trampled Soviet past, to learn from those actors, on those films that are now looked down upon.
You need to watch the film carefully, without rushing anywhere. Perhaps the modern viewer, accustomed to the mingling of special effects on the screen, will not be able to perceive this work, and this is sad. It is also sad that films like this are not made these days, and do not even show good Soviet film adaptations on television in the time available for viewing (for example, this film was shown at night, it is good that it is online). But how much better would people be if, in addition to stupid serials of pro-cops, luboffs and stupid sitcoms with vulgar jokes and imbecile characters, they could watch a real movie that develops the ability to think, teach people to love another human life besides their own and respect another person but themselves. And the educational function of modern television is aimed at creating a consumer personality that can become destructive in an instant.
For this film, I'm putting
10 out of 10
I'm going to read Turgenev.
