Very sad story of one film adaptation On the youth prose of Anatoly Alexin, more than one generation of Soviet schoolchildren grew up. His books have been translated into dozens of languages and are still being successfully republished. But with the film adaptations, the writer was not lucky. It would seem that Alexin’s prose is asked for the theatrical stage or film screen, but filmography is more than modest and is completely unknown to the general audience.
Why did Soviet cinema pass by such a cinematic author, God knows. When they looked at his books through a movie lens, it was too late. In the late 1980s, the Children's and Youth Film Industry was agonizing with the unbreakable Union, and in general, the audience was worried about very different problems. Where was the singer of tender age and humanism?
Maybe that's why 'A Very Scary Story' got such a weak film adaptation. The main characters and antiheroes, scenery, camera work - all bygone. And that's too bad. Although, the plot of this work is not outdated and, perhaps, she will one day be lucky with the director.
