Many years ago, the ambitious Rosalia Pacheco Huergo leaves her illegitimate daughter Perla (Andrea Del Boca) in a prestigious college. To look after the girl, the señora instructs the director of the educational institution, Miss Helen (Rehina Lamm) and leaves a fee for her education in the form of 22 black pearls. After 21 years, the fates of Perla and Rosalia’s granddaughter, Eva (Marcel Gerty), are incredibly intertwined.
This is how the most popular Argentine telenovela "Black Pearl" ("Perla Negra") begins, in which the main roles were performed by Andrea Del Boca and Gabriel Corrado (Thomas). The series was a resounding success at home, so it is not surprising that copies of the series have been distributed around the world, including in Russia. In our country, the novel has been shown at least three times ("Petersburg, Channel 5", "REN-TV" and "RTR"), but it remains one of the most revised "soap" series of the 90s.
Unlike the previous “Delbokov” creations, “Black Pearl” was filmed a lot on nature. The most juicy shooting came in Israel, where a team led by the late director Nicolas Del Boca shot material including the Western Wall.
Telenovella has become a hallmark of Sonotex, gaining recognition around the world. Later, the famous Argentine TV channel TELEFE absorbed "Sonotex", and the legendary three-color video camera in the screensaver has sunk into oblivion.
The plot "Black Pearl" stretched, like all "Delbokov series". However, it is in this novel that there is its magic and mystical note, which distinguishes the novella from the rest. Who can forget "getting together"? Pearl and Ava the ghost in the room? And the main villain of the whole "Pearl" Malvin (Milly Stegmann)? As a child, it seemed to me that this is a contagion of hell, which puts sticks in the wheels of Thomas and Eva Pearl, but with age you realize that Malvina is only one side of the love triangle.
Interesting line of the family Alvarez Toledo - Fernando ( Jorge D'Elia), Renata ( Cecilia Maresca), Junior ( Norberto Diaz) and Lucila ( Maria Pia). An ordinary Argentine family with its sorrows, sorrows and joys. And the problems that fall on the heads of characters one by one.
We must pay tribute to our St. Petersburg actors, who voiced the telenovela incomparably. Namely: Natalia Danilova (Rosalia, Eva, Malvina, Helen, Renata), Tatiana Ivanova (Perla, Blanca, Ana Maria, Lucila), Yuri Radkevich (Thomas, Leonardo, Agustin, Elias) and Vadim Nikitin (Fernando, Dante, Laureano, Zacarias). And the title composition "El Amor" performed by Andrea became a real hit and, literally, the anthem of a strong "Sonotex" telenovela.
There are downsides, though. Namely: the stretched plot and stupid moves that the writers came up with purely for rating (remember the line of the character Henry Zakk or the unfortunate hero of Leonardo, the character Facundo Arana). This is all about the show.
In 2021, the Del Boca family decided to encroach on the saint and shoot a remake of the Black Pearl. Naturally, the role of Perla 55-year-old Andi no longer claims, so the laurels went to her only daughter Anna. Andrea will play the role of her real mother, Rosalia. The remake is planned to be shown online, but I am sure that the immortal original will not surpass it.

In the summer of 2000, as a six-year-old, I started watching The Black Pearl on RTR. I knew Andreu Del Boca from Celeste and Antonella, where she played alongside Gustavo Bermudez. Even then I was irritated by the appearance of Bermudez, and carry this dislike to this day. At a conscious age, she revised Celeste and was offended by its hero Franco for the constant humiliation of her beloved. And in “Black Pearl”, in tandem with Del Boca, was Gabriel Corrado, a charismatic actor, with a fundamentally new image of the hero.
Even though I was a little girl, on some subconscious level, I felt a very different harmony between Andrea and Gabriel. I liked that arrangement. In addition, the screensaver of The Black Pearl, which begins with Andrea’s medallion face, through the plastic sculpture, revealed my interest in art. Here, perhaps, are all childish residual impressions.
I revisited The Black Pearl as a grown girl, with an understanding of what soap operas are worth. I was fascinated by the series even more than I expected. And it's not about nostalgic feelings. It was a different story before.
The topics raised in the series are real. We face these realities, experience them our close, relatives, acquaintances. When you realize this, you realize how template life is. It is a shame that you will find this copy in almost every second family.
A gentle, sweet and kind girl marries a man to whom she gives all herself and her love without a trace. She gives him youth and beauty, and what does she get in return? Endless betrayal and humiliation, neglect and coldness. And then a young woman shuts herself up, builds a protective wall. Wouldn’t any modern woman recognize herself in this description? And we are talking about the main character, the starting point of the entire plot of Rosalia (Maria Rosa Gallo). Eventually, she cheated on Carlos (Natalio Oxman). But he did not forgive the only mistake of his wife and under pressure forced her to abandon her illegitimate daughter.
The same goes for Renata (Cecilia Maresca). But she did not cheat on her husband, she just tolerated and withered. At the beginning of the series, we see an elderly, tired and complex woman whose sleeping charm and sexuality is trying to awaken the stepson Junior (Norberto Diaz).
Downtrodden and quiet, but beautiful, Anna Maria (Viviana Saes), like a sleeping volcano, first experiences the despair that she feels in connection with the unjust being in the background, shelter in the house of Rosalia, and then explodes, bringing destruction.
On one of the forums, and here, I read complaints about the fact that positive characters suddenly become bad, and then again good. The characters of the Black Pearl are alive, with their angels and demons. It is impossible to speak of a person as exceptional good or evil. After all, the same Pearl (Andrea Del Boca) had significant shortcomings. She is stubborn, sarcastic, not too tactful towards others. Remember at least her relationship with Anna Maria, where Perla was fascinated by her figure, did not notice her friend, which led to negative consequences. His distrust of Thomas went from scandal to scandal. However, this is the law 'soap', keep intrigue in a relationship.
The main antagonist, Malvina, a capricious, spoiled and cocky girl. But remember how she supported her brother, how she said goodbye to her grandmother.
In my opinion, the main character of the Black Pearl is a woman. The whole series is a hymn to her, so weak, tender and defenseless inside, but strong and unshakable outside.

I want to start with the fact that as a teenage child, I, like many of my contemporaries, was not jokingly passionate about TV series. And at that time, the dark and joyless 90s - it was almost the only outlet. When there is one grayness around, it was simply impossible not to plunge into the world of fabulous love in some distant, and as it seemed to us, happy countries where all dreams come true, and Cinderella necessarily becomes a queen. And the Argentine TV novels with Andrea del Boca in the title role were very useful. But, already being an adult, I wanted to revise from beginning to end it was the “Black Pearl”, it was painfully vividly cut into my memory of the twists and turns of the plot and the extraordinary game of the main character.
To date, this is the only series with Andrea that I have reviewed completely and I want to say that my opinion of her has only improved, despite the fact that it was mainly directed by her father. She is absolutely not as beautiful as Grecia Colmenares, and not as cute as Natalia Oreiro, but her acting skills are just on top of them. She came about as both a comedic actress and a dramatic one; her on-screen fun is so amusing and natural, how deep and sympathetic her sadness is. And Gabrielle Corrado, what a wonderful couple! I also want to traditionally celebrate the wonderful game of my beloved Cecilia Maresco and Norberto Diaz.
Of course, this is a series and do not treat it too strictly, but I can not help noting that the plot was a lot of overlaps and unfinished lines. For example, Malvina, who is leaving with her mother to Europe, and they are already with suitcases and are late for the airport, but later at the very end she somehow strangely appears at Pearla’s wedding. When Perla decides to convert to Judaism, she first consults her father and he dissuades her, and then we are shown her conversation with her mother as if there had been no conversation with Benjamin and no one had dissuaded her, because she is determined. Many of the characters came from nowhere, then disappeared (Ariana, Junior, Maria, Laureano, etc.), and although we explained something about this, it was at least not plausible and not quite clear. It is also incomprehensible how many characters suddenly became either positive or negative (Augustine, Anna Maria, Maria, etc.). And it looks completely implausible sudden love of almost all men to Pearl. However, despite this plot throughout the television novel is interesting, eventful and does not suffer from excessive delay, the game is lively, intriguing, emotional. At first it was the impression that well, everything was so cleverly twisted in this story that they would never untwist, but still steered, coped with some buckets.
Overall, the impression is pleasant. Funny melodrama for a young audience. It’s hard to evaluate such works, probably because you realize that they just can’t be perfect. But, nevertheless, this work of Nicholas del Boca to miss and not to recognize is also impossible.

“The Black Pearl” is the best series I’ve ever seen!
Perla is the most beloved heroine and role model even after many years!
Andrea del Boca is the most talented actress of the series and the most feminine and beautiful woman in the world for me!
To this amazing series, you can only apply the words “the most”.
I remember how many years ago I ran away from school to catch the next series of ZJ, and recently almost did not leave the house for several days, reviewing this masterpiece of the world of serial art.
Everything is harmonious, everything in the world, and comedy and drama and love and morality. After watching on the soul it becomes easy, fun and seems to look at Pearl – so lively, strong, brave, cheerful, passionate that everything in this life is possible and overcome and forgive and accept and win.
Andrea created such an unforgettable image of Pearla, so sincerely, so strongly, so beautifully that I will be forever grateful to her. How I laughed at her antics, how I couldn’t take my eyes off their relationship with Thomas, as pure and innocent as I cried with her, listening to stories of her lonely childhood. Through all obstacles: loneliness, orphanhood, the death of a beloved friend, someone else’s inhospitable home, the fight for the company, for his son, for love, to victory through the forgiveness of the mother, through love for the father, through the acceptance and understanding of the loved one, through the recovery of the child.
Pearl attracted me like a magnet with her invincible bold character, how much life, energy, fire and at the same time infinite femininity and unusual high beauty was in her. And paired with Thomas - the same energetic, noble and brave, it was just a volcano of passions.
But if without emotion, then the series deserves all 10 points with a plus, the plot is thought out to the smallest detail, the cast is excellent, the actors’ play is impeccable (Rosalia – Maria Rosa Galo, Malvina – Mili Stegman – above all praise). The characters turned out not to be fabulous, but quite realistic, all have bad and good sides. And the whole atmosphere of the series is so lively sincere not played attracts you from the first series.
And for the magnificent Andrea del Boca, in my opinion, it was a triumph, the brightest and best of her role, she was just matchless here. And a funny girl, and a brave beautiful woman, and a confident business lady, and a feminine coquette, and a cunning prankster and a conqueror of men's hearts and a fatal beauty and a gentle loving mother.
