Yeah. I watched the second season of And Just Like That, taking a break of a few months between the first series, which didn’t go at all and pushed away all the other episodes.
I have absolutely no regrets about watching. The show is inspiring. First of all - to be yourself, not to be afraid, not to stop, at any age and situation, because, no matter how banal it seems - everything passes.
The characters are all beautiful. And all in their own and modern open and presented. Each in its chosen form, complex, beautiful and terrible places, gives the understanding that life is beautiful. And that it's not complicated. We and we have a tendency to complicate things.
I thank the world that there are inspiring and light pictures, TV series, books, which are sometimes lacking right now, like a breath of air, because you have again complicated your life and look at it as an impossible to assemble a rubic cube.
I feel spiritual upliftment, purification and inspiration. And easy love.
A little bitterness for Kerry and Aidan, but also joy, because they didn't complicate it and just accepted it.
I will definitely wait for a new season if it is planned.
Thank you!
Sex and the City is a real-life series with no pink glasses.
Great show, great actors.
A beautiful continuation of the series, showing how the beloved heroines have become adult women and face more serious problems in life than choosing shoes or dresses.
Raising children, health problems, death of loved ones. ..
It was foolish to hope that such grown women would again play the role of frivolous ladies. That would be ridiculous considering how much time has passed.
For this reason and many negative reviews... The viewer also matured over the years, but did not grow up with his head and views on life. Housework, housework. And time goes on and everything changes, and so do our heroes. The same thing happens in real life, open your eyes. . .
In the series, you can often see how they do not have time to get used to the rapidly changing world around them, but adapt, study, live.
To me, that's the beauty of the movie, the whole point, the whole idea. To show the viewer that nothing is permanent, and the world around us is diverse and eternally in motion. We can only accept it as it is, sometimes remembering what it was.
And if you need something easier for the mind, where you do not need to think, more pop, not about life, but about passions, emotions, look at the Keepers, you will like them more.
About the series “And just like that” found out by accident a couple of days ago and watched it in one breath.
“Sex and the City” I really like and because of this, the first series of the new series was perceived as a continuation. Mistake. This is quite a separate series, despite the fact that the writers made a lot of references to “Sex”. And to my delight, Carrie's not as psychotic. I liked that they introduced new characters and showed that each heroine has a different circle of friends besides the main friendship.
If you are annoyed by the themes of feminism, non-binarity, black people, etc. – stop watching modern movies, spend less nerve. None of the Russian viewers understand the cultivation of these topics (well, except for gay activists, of course). What’s the point of getting mad about the woven storylines on this topic and then missing the plot as a whole?
It makes no sense to compare 55+ in Russia and 55+ in other countries and search for the age of the target audience of the series. But it makes sense to disconnect from the age of the characters and look at their lives and ask the question “Am I now living my life saturated with full awareness of who I am and what I want?”
The series is beyond the age of the audience. It raises themes that can be encountered at any age – both in 20 and 60. You can lose a loved one not only at 55+, you can and should decide to return to your calling as soon as possible.
I really liked that the series leaves a light aftertaste. I'm not sure I'll be waiting for the sequel because I think it's a good open ending.
To be honest, I didn’t expect it to be renewed for a second season. Wrong. I wish I could say the reason is because of the fans, or rather the fans of the original series, but that’s not the case – it’s been renewed for a third season! How does that work? People like it?! Okay, there are no friends on the taste and color, but this does not cancel the claims to this work.
As I wrote earlier in reviews of the original series and the first season of the sequel, four charming women found what they were looking for. Or rather who. Theirs! - Men! That was the point of the original, the search for true and only love. What is the ultimate goal of the continuation? To shoot until the actress dies? I guess so.
There's no strong story in the series. The authors are busy in fact restarting, so I will continue to focus on what has already become boring.
In the sequel, we are made to understand that all these searches were useless, since the idyll without the emotional swings of a young life remained only with Charlotte. As for the remaining three, one disappeared altogether; the second at fifty-five decided that she was not averse to girls; but the third, in general, said that ' the man of her dreams' was not her dream. Bravo! That is, years, and with them life experience passed by. Grandmas still feel like girls and act accordingly.
This is about depreciation. And now LGBT+ characters. Yes, there were gays in the original, but they did not interfere with history and were cute, and for whom a funny exception to the rule. But here the exception to the rule is not understanding the reason why a person changed the pronoun from ' she' or ' he' to ' they' Hetero, non-binary. She had a daughter, Rose, and she became Rock. And no objection! But why?! Why do you make all this seem normal? Why not bring it up and start a discussion? Prove it's normal. There would already be some sense in the continuation. The statistics are not in favor of the authors. 'A Gallup poll conducted in February 2023 found that 7.2% of U.S. adults identify as LGBT, 86% as straight or heterosexual, while 7% chose not to answer'
Now, as far as gender equality is concerned. If in the original only Miranda was obsessed with this case, then in the continuation there are more like her. Separately, it’s funny that by the end of the series Miranda realized that you don’t have to take on more than you need, shouting at the world how strong and independent you are. Here men, in addition to being purely second-hand, they also have to feel what it is like to be a woman in terms of raising children, maintaining order in the house and so on. And despite all the difficulties of the status ' behind her husband' all the women in the frame are extremely successful women. They got everything they wanted from life, despite centuries of patriarchy. There's only a problem. Where are these strong and independent people? Show me how they got the result. Show me the results of their work. None of this is in the series and will not be. There will be only words. It is much more important to reveal who is a liability and who is an asset. The very same successful, strong and independent look so disgusting in their extravagant bright clothes and with a ton of makeup on their face that you want to poke out your eyes. They do not cause any sympathy for their alleged oppression by peasants, but on the contrary, I want to see how someone will bring them to their senses.
To be fair, I have to say that you get carried away in places. Michael Patrick King is not without his talent. But this does not justify the disgust of the series.
Not those anymore, but still cool, free and privileged.
I was a fan of Sex and the City, but I was skeptical about the sequel And Just Like That. It seemed to me that everyone had grown old, talk about sex would be inappropriate and clumsy, and the absence of one of the main characters Samantha Jones made me sad: “How about without her?”
After watching the first episode, I realized it wasn’t all that bad. The heroines have grown up, they have common problems and experiences. No matter how free and progressive they were, in whatever relationship they were, the heroines still evoke sympathy and remain the same beautiful women of their age.
By the way, the focus of heroines on men becomes less. Kerry, Miranda, Charlotte and the new heroines (Che Diaz, Sima, Lisa and Naia) are thinking more about themselves, about how to be a modern widow and housewife, a university professor and supercelebrity, a businesswoman and a gallerywoman. They are not ashamed of their age and look like always superfashionable.
There’s less drama, less yearning for men and even less sex. The writers almost abstracted from the original concept of “Sex...” The sequel is not exactly exciting, but it is a pleasure to watch it.
And by the way, it's back to self-confidence, at least for me.
The second season is viewed and in an effort to slam the open work of the soul excitedly click on the review, as after reading the last line in the book absorb the letters from the binding.
The original series is dear to my soul, like other works from the past, but the deeper the issues of representation of LGBT+ interests, discrimination (here it all: ageism, race, lukism...), shaming enter our lives, the more ambiguous my attitude became. New seasons have closed this issue, but still there are high heels and makeup for each outing, yes, this is the choice of everyone and one of the highlights of the series high fashion, but ...
Authors and authors cover the agenda of our present with sharp topics - a risky task, but necessary. By releasing a picture of the modern world, they normalize vulnerable institutions, popularize problems, and speed up acceptance. Yes, while there are few such films (note the series “With a capital letter” / “Mindy Project”) and perhaps for someone in some places caricatured, but these are the first steps, this is a new topic, will eventually be more harmonious, although it is possible that viewers are confused precisely because of their own rejection, unusual images are thrown into the eyes, but perhaps harmony depends on the beliefs of the beholder?
The picture shows that we live in an interesting time when there is a transformation of public opinion and such shifts are given to humanity not easily in the measure of our natural conformity, but we are given so much and we ourselves make the world around comfortable for everyone, or rather we can, but not always enjoy such a great privilege, although the heroes try to accept the new in their own way, be open and progressive.
The characters. They're beautiful. The 50+ shows how you can and should rebuild in the modern world, that it is always not too late to learn, be in good shape, rethink your views and beliefs, make changes in your life and yourself. Age does not limit you – you can become a novice specialist or a student or a parent and this is normal. Everything around you changes and you can enjoy it, move forward, there are no restrictions except your own beliefs. Life is the way through all the years and while you are alive – act, because the time for change and something new is now.
Speaking about the new normality, we did not forget about the classics – a dispute between generations, parents and children. Yes, generations of X and millennials are used to a different image, but after us there are 2 new characters and it is important what characters they will look at, what characters, relationships and environment will correspond to the new time. In the present, parents are increasingly asking the question “What can I give my child, he knows everything better than me?”, the authors answer – care, acceptance and support, an environment in which children can develop without the framework of puritanism and limiting ideas about how it is accepted.
So this series has transformed from a loud voice in support of feminism into a loud statement about all who need support and justice.
This is all in the series, and it is important as a cultural phenomenon, for which I am grateful to all who participated in such a meaningful project for our tolerant and equal future.
I finished watching sex in the big city (both TV series and movies) just a couple of months before I started watching "and just like that." My view of all parts of history seems rather atypical to me. I'm not going to scold the show, and here's why.
Obviously, the series of twenty years ago and the series being released now will be different. As you know, before the grass was greener, nostalgia is a very interesting phenomenon. After watching the series, I, like everyone else, noticed different from the conventional “original” details. However, I don’t consider them disadvantages at all. Of course, the atmosphere of the series loses, the disclosure of the main characters - too. But these are still quite realistic women whose stories we have seen before.
Those “minuses” that are repeatedly described in the reviews are ... naked homophobia (oops). Of course, to learn to show minorities on the screen organically and effortlessly, you need to try and it is impossible to immediately do something new (anything) well. And I understand why even in the U.S. this series is discussed in a negative way. Shay is a big problem, and it’s not about propaganda, as everyone says, but that he’s a poorly written character, completely uninteresting and more perceived as negative, unpleasant. Of course, and it is difficult to think that this person can be a love interest of anyone. Again, this is not propaganda, but simply inept representation. A joke about a Russian escort is a problem. This one with the minuses is all for me. All because I'm 18. The culture in the U.S. and around the world has changed a lot over the past 25 years, and with it the film industry, you just have to accept it.
Of course, there are still imperfect moments, but referring to the title of my review, people only see them. People in their reviews condemn all the characters, ask strange questions about the need for them in the plot, but they forget the main thing - this series is about life. All characters are imperfect and special in their own way. However, in the modern world, people are not grateful for the continuation of their favorite story, but are looking for an opportunity to release the negative because everything, you see, has changed over 20 years.
To sum up, the series is definitely worthy of attention, despite the obvious moments of Spanish shame, which, fortunately, are becoming less and less. Draw conclusions yourself, because modernity is the age of shaming, because of which it is difficult to form your own idea of anything.
P.S. - It's a shame that they cut 15 minutes out of each episode.
I can't understand why all the heroines suddenly became idiots, their lives turned into vulgar cartoons. Charlotte and her husband and daughters seriously present themselves as representatives of the elite of Manhattan, although they live in the apartment of Charlotte's first husband - absurd! Charlotte hasn't done anything since she left the gallery. I don't understand why her world is so focused on her friends and daughters. Why, through this once classy character, viewers are not introduced to the world of contemporary art?
Carrie, too, has become a caricature version of herself, her problems - ' what will the cool neighbor downstairs think of me?' or ' how do I read a chapter from my own book aloud?' become central themes of the series.
Miranda in principle, except for the Spanish shame does not cause anything, all scenes with her want to squander.
New characters are all like the selection of representatives of other races. And in this, oddly enough, there is a strong racism of the creators of the series. They are not characters in principle, they are just cardboards ' black female university professor' ' black female director from secular Manhattan' etc. Che is positioned as a stand-up, but she is not at all funny.
The current agenda is coming from under all the cracks, and it's served so disgustingly tasteless, so repulsively. Compare the theme of nonbinarity at least with 'Euphoria' - the characters daughter of Charlotte and Che cause nothing but irritation.
It is difficult for me to objectively and impartially evaluate this series in isolation from the original. When I first watched the show, it was very interesting - Western life, the openness of the heroines, they were 5-10 years older than me, like older sisters. You look and touch the world of very grown people, you don’t understand everything, but it’s very interesting. What I see now is clearly older women living in a completely different agenda and conditions, behaving very strangely. Sometimes they’re like weird crazy old women acting like they’re still 30, and I think, is that what I’m going to do in 10 years? It hurts to look at it (especially since the quality of the picture is great), they are sorry, they feel sorry for themselves. And of course it is. You understand the little things that really bother them, and besides pity, you get annoyed. But I'm fine, a fan of the original (by the way, to calm down, I've revisited the original once again - it's beautiful as before). But the new people who decide to watch it, for them in general, the series probably looks like a strange unfunny circus with retired clowns.
Terrible, just terrible translation! It is immediately clear that it was made by a man, a lot of words on the edge of decency. It would be possible to preserve the style of the previous series, it would be organic and gave the series gloss and grace (former).
The stories got really bored. A lot of unnecessary absolutely meaningless, nothing to bring and not decorating the plot of the characters. Those who wanted to see him were either killed (Big) or simply removed (Samantha). However, it may be a good thing that we did not see Samantha – suddenly she somehow grew old, and it will be sad. It is better to keep her bright image unchanged (joke).
And then there's the constant whining -- "We're old, I'm old, you're old, we're old," and so on -- as if the heroes are 95, not 55. Bullshit. And those who do not believe that life exists at 55 and what other cool – well, you will live – you will see for yourself.
However, it was still nice to see the heroines so slender, fashionable and full of desires, so sometimes reminiscent of their former ones - adult girls living in a fairy-tale city that does not really exist.
But I like Carrie, and I'll see it through.
And just so the world went crazy, and this series is a complete confirmation of this.
This is my first negative review of the film, but I was very disappointed by this series. It is difficult to highlight anything good in it. All that we loved so much about Sex and the City is the story of true female friendship, sensual and passionate relationships, constant jokes, taunting girls, interesting stories at breakfast, and the divine Samantha! All this is gone. And replaced by new, boring, completely inconspicuous heroes, and bravo — all of them are either black, Asian, or Hindu. And they are trying to impose the issue of minorities on us, as the main theme of the series, to the point that if white people do not have black friends, it is wrong.
In the LGBT+ agenda, walk raspberries among any person. I’m afraid they’ll be in season two.
There are a lot of questions to the storylines, too, and there is always confusion: Why did you take that off? How could you have done that?
I can only praise Carey’s unrefrigerated love for shoes, her exquisite taste, and her ability to look chic even at 55. Charlotte clearly overdosed with Botox, and even beautiful makeup does not save her. And Miranda has forgotten how to joke, and seems to have gone mad.
Boring and stuffy. I do not advise anyone to watch, you will not find anything useful here. Except that only for the sake of a beautiful picture, and magnificent outfits.
4 out of 10
For the still beautiful cover, and promise to bring Samantha back in Season 2.
So I reached my hands to watch the sequel to the legendary sequel Sex and the City.
The question is, is it just that? ? ?
Those who once watched “Sex and the City” know the same Kerry, Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte.
I'm going to step back a bit and just want to share my observation about the basics of the series, the one, not the sequel.
I first watched Sex and the City when I was 20. Emotions storm, Carrie is right, Samantha is excellent and inimitable, Miranda funny, Charlotte stifled.
At 27, I had a different opinion. Kerry is a fool, lost Eden, how so!! Samantha is still beautiful and causes only admiration. Miranda's funny. Charlotte - strangled x2.
I'm 32. I'm watching this show again. Carrie's right, get out of where you feel bad. Samantha, I'm your idol. Miranda's funny. Charlotte, alas, also stifled.
Having lived through all these stages, I learn that a sequel comes out. I was glad. It’s a continuation of the story.
Let’s start with what you like.
I liked the director, liked the picture, liked the same manner of presentation, soundtracks.
I liked the new ones, but more on that later.
I like that Carey, Mr Big, Miranda and Charlotte are all the same, despite their age. It was completely possible to pass the psychotype after a year.
That I didn't like.
Propaganda. Frank, I don't understand. Perhaps this is really their reality and I, as a person far from it all, just do not understand it. Maybe. But I wanted to see a story about my favorite girls, not how cool it is when you're IT. I'm a person with prejudices, I don't understand that. And that was a lot. It’s too much to ignore.
Why was Miranda’s history teacher “pushed” into the series? What's the point? For what? These are questions for me without answers. I'm not interested, I don't know her. I want to know more about the girls I've spent my entire adult life with. There are no complaints about the quality of their play, beautiful actors with beautiful play. But they have no place in this story.
It is interesting to see that even at 50 women in that country remain interested in their personal lives. They are looking for, hanging out, looking great.
In general, the series itself left emotions. Different, incomprehensible. But if you do the analysis, the emotions are positive. If you exclude the nuances and take it solely as a continuation and do not wait for "Wow", then it will come.
But now I understand why Samantha does not participate in this circus called "the devil that."
And without Samantha, it's not the same.
Realtor Carrie, who appears in the middle of the series, is only a pathetic parody of our Samantha.
For all its “frankness” and “concern”, it will not replace it.
I'll end with a thought that came right now.
I want to watch these movies and TV shows because they show that a woman has to be happy. A woman can be beautiful despite her age. That a woman can live well. It's a beautiful motivation.
I just finished watching “Just Like That” and I loved it so much! He's so lifelike, frank and beautiful. The sequel to Sex and the City did not disappoint me. Each episode made me empathize with the main character and her problems with family and men.
The series explores the themes that many of us face in real life – love, frustration, sex, marriage, children, parents and more. He does it very sincerely and beautifully without falling into light melodrama or stereotypes. Each character has their own strengths and weaknesses, and their relationship develops naturally and organically. I even liked in this case the coverage of Miranda’s homosexual experience, in my opinion it was without dirt and about feeling.
I really appreciate that the show so vividly and truthfully portrays women's issues and the importance of friendship and family. This is not only fun and exciting, and often makes you think about life, the balance of self-realization and love.
In general, I recommend the series “And Just Like That” to anyone who loves good and beautiful stories about life, love and relationships. He deserves your time and attention.
First I watched both full meters 'Sex and the City' then this series, then the original 1990s series, then both full meters again, and now I'm revisiting this series again. I know it's a strange situation, but I'm fine with it. I decided to revisit ' And just like that ' because now I see the heroines a little differently, given their background. This means that in the second series they are very different from those in the first. Well, it feels like life. Carrie, anyway, has changed because of the loss, Charlotte because of the difficulties with the child, Miranda because of the boring marriage. Everything changes over time.
The series is calm, not too surprising and not annoying. I like that the subject of sex is not in the forefront, at all. The heroines have grown up, they are in stable relationships, they are not looking for something unattainable. Everything is simpler and clearer now. What am I talking about? As for life situations, it is still more confusing than in the first series. Mental wounds this time are much more serious and heal longer.
By age, this series is closer and more interesting to me. I hope that I will become a heroine someday. And again, like the first series, it's not a guide to action or propaganda. There are no answers, everyone decides for themselves. But look at the type ' And was it possible?!' - informative.
Actresses play well, though I think restrained. As if any breakthrough of emotions is already too much. Samantha is lacking in this sense.
Very inspiring approach of filmmakers to the filming process. Every episode here is like a movie. High level, high class. Perhaps this is why spontaneity is lacking. The idealism of the picture always bothers me. All these suspenders still deprive of emotions, and therefore life.
What'Sex and the City' that'And just like that' is a tale about Cinderella. Whether she has a prince or not, she will always find her perfect footwear. Unlike real women.
I don’t even know where to start... I didn’t like the first series, but I looked to avoid jumping to conclusions.
But alas and ah!
We tried to touch on a lot of problems of our time and it looked like a snowball, in which snow, dirt, and dog feces (sorry).
There is too much propaganda that is not revealed through the most pleasant scenes.
Regarding ' the old ' the heroines of the series, everything would be fine, but Miranda, who is this anyway? It is clear that with age, people change, but they made it an old senile, they hung a lot of labels. As for Carey and Charlotte, less so. Samantha? What about Big? That's what happens when actors don't want to act.
It is unclear the meaning, motive and generally the main idea of the series.
If the main idea of the series was to show the lives of the characters after so many years, it failed, since only names remained from the previous characters, as well as there was no life in these characters. If the main idea of the series was to show that you need to be tolerant, then this also failed. 'Be yourself' the main idea of the series? But in the end ' to be yourself ' for some heroes - it is to give up your life, your principles, opportunities (internship) at 50 years and go nowhere.
And I'd like to say ' thank you' that this horror they didn't wove to the great series ('Sex and the City'), but no, left it on the sweet to spoil the impression even more.
Unfortunately, in the films after the series it was already difficult to invent a storyline, in places it was like nonsense. In the sequel to the series, a lot was just disgusting. Since they removed Big from history.
Kerry line:
I didn’t like the start of the podcast. Sarah Ramirez looks mean. And in this vulgarity involved the affair of Kerry and Preston. Against the background of the boorish theme of self-pleasure, let’s call it that, they simply trampled their love story, stretched for 6! seasons and 2 full-lengths, into MUD.
The series has always looked in one breath. The themes were clear and there was charm, sarcasm, humor, sometimes condemnation of heroes or vice versa, empathy.
Kerry is very old, looks, frankly, worse than 55 years.
Samantha line: just merged. I will not believe that a friend would not support at the time of Big's death, it is more than resentment and pontification. Flowers, hmm.
I understand Samantha's refusal to play in this sequel if she was offered to mess with Brady. When he was born, she was already over 40, it’s such an incredible nonsense.
Charlotte's line:
Oh. Rock instead of Rose. A Jewish family that swallowed everything. My husband didn’t let me celebrate Christmas! And Charlotte agreed to remove the tree! And here they thought that their daughter, native daughter!! It?! And they kept calling it Rock.
Lily's beautiful. By the way, she didn't give Harry a blowjob. That was unacceptable to her. And what we see at home.
But transravin, that's all, there's just no words. They hurt the feelings of the believers. LGBT topics on the sacrament.
Just a fu.
Miranda Line:
Cynthia's scenes with Sarah were so nauseating. Let the actresses forgive me. But it's disgusting. Sarah in Grey's Anatomy looked very organic with her partner. And here, just grandmothers, survivors of the mind. Not to mention having sex in the kitchen with a junkie who smokes pot endlessly. Terrible. And Kerry, in a puddle. . .
Turned away many moments associated with incontinence, nausea and other things.
Oh, yeah, and Big's in a box on a shelf with shoes.
It's just some kind of vulgarity, no one's tolerance.
It is one thing when you are tolerant of a person, poor, disabled, not like you externally. But it's just shiza, black trances in fairy costumes, it's madness!
There were a few moments from which to assemble one series, and the rest was just disappointing.
Watched all seasons and a full meter, once, without repeats. So I decided to watch another season. And here's the summary.
This season, the themes of self-perception as a girl or a boy or as something else, outside the box.
On the whole, one could speculate about this, but this is alien to our brother, for, as they say, born a woman, endure. All this is still strong in our minds, but here with propaganda is just overdone. Queer and other LGBT people from each iron shout about their rights on ' otherwise', on TV and radio, where Carrie hosts a podcast. Children confuse mothers by their reluctance to conform more to their innate gender. But these special pronouns are them. Isn't that too much? They're the king? And they all walk with them and worship them. What is going on with the Western world?
The relationship between the sexes is discussed, templates are shown - from the side is ridiculous.
How women in love over 50 go to meet the family of their lovers again, how they wait for a call, and then think whether to answer it or still seem mysterious and inaccessible.
Yes, someone still gets divorced and touching moments are thinking about whether to remove the rings, if someone has not stopped loving and has not reconciled with the end of the relationship.
Also masturbation, talking to children about sex and, in fact, sex itself, otherwise it would not be 'Sex and the city'.
Only sex here is not as simple and understandable as in the 90s. However, the series has always been free and even provocative in this regard, so let’s consider it a test. Although sex, as such, in all series very little.
Perhaps the topic of alternative genders is not close to the Russian-speaking audience, so the series did not gain high marks, but in general captured, although the actors have aged.
A little ridiculous and pathetic looks like Kerry still ' clings ' in his heels, one hand holding on the sore back, and the other for the hem of a lush dress, in which she goes literally into the bakery.
Nice press. But it seems that this is the last season in this company. All right. There's always some hot girls for Sex in the big city. See you later!
P.S. It's hard to assess. General impression at 8\10
The central hero-queer is shown to be so charismatic and seductive that I already think what a cool community they have, and with such (character) I would spin, what is there. Oh, she wasn't!
But then I jerk myself. This is LGBT propaganda as it is!
Surprisingly, this series is not yet banned in Russia.
All of us are already quite liberalized, agree with the rights of other people to their features (not contradicting, however, the Civil Code and the Criminal Code), but the intentional protrusion of the characters in the series is too repulsive, reducing the assessment even to
Continuation of the cult series “Sex and the City”, telling about the lives of four (in fact three in the frame) friends from New York. After 20 years, Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte, 50, still face important issues of friendship, love, and family drama, relying on each other’s support.
Carrie lives happily with her husband John Preston, nicknamed Mr. Big. Formerly a well-known writer and author of her own column in the magazine, Carrie hosts a podcast on the radio, in which she continues to explore important topics of love, sex and relationships.
Idealist Charlotte – now a mother of teenage daughters, faces new challenges in family life, in raising children and in relationships with her beloved husband. Energetic Miranda also tries to deal with the difficulties in the relationship with an adult son, career and love.
Oh, how much this sequel made a fuss on social media! I postponed this viewing for a long time, but in the end I decided to look out of curiosity, and honestly, I was pleased. I watched 10 episodes in a volley, everything turned out very interesting and organic (ON AMAZING), although I personally, madly lacked my beloved Samantha Jones, her bright advice and statements about the pressing.
And just like that... once again, we meet with the beloved heroines after 11 years (after the release of the second feature film). During that time, the world seems to have changed beyond recognition: newspapers with author columns have replaced podcasts, everyone sits on social media, speaks freely about gender theory and inclusivity. Only here our heroines barely keep up with new trends and communication in society. They are also amazed ' imitations of kisses at a meeting' old acquaintances, still observe a gossip balance at the table and ... also, ridiculously hide or cover their face if they meet with a glance with a person who they do not like. The abundance of LGBT people and various non-binary characters – just skyrocketing, I’m sure – this is one of the biggest disadvantages of the whole series ... but here the writers have not forgotten about racism, the disabled, the Holocaust and of course childfree! Like a combo.
For many fans of the classic 'Sex...' Samantha's absence was a complete disappointment, forcing him to aggressively tune in for the fresh season even before its full release. Yes, Samantha was considered by many to be the main star, what to hide - she was the engine and the lighter & #39 of the project. Alas, but Kim Cattrall either did not agree with the producers about the size of the fee, or did not want to once again test the strength of her difficult relationship with Sarah Jessica Parker, rumors about conflicts on the set of recent films were actively spread in the media. In general, Sam is not in the frame, but she is in the phone correspondence of the heroines, and from this ... still nice a little on the soul, believe me.
It is impossible to find words that would fully describe this project simply and clearly. Acting ensemble, costumers, designers, extras: an incredibly huge team ... Age of course touched the faces of the actors, it can not hide. And the topic of ageism was adequately and very funny touched upon, with all the ensuing thoughts about plastic, and menopause in women for 50+. And while our audience dissatisfied with the wrinkles on the face of Sarah Jessica Parker, but does not notice them on the guise of the Big City, which is also aging along with its heroines - unfortunately, the beauty of the series cannot be appreciated without understanding what New York is and what it means to America and Americans: their restaurants, their clubs, their incredible rhythm of life! That seemed to many obscene joke about the New York subway will appreciate only those who are familiar with one of the most confusing subways in the world. This is a classic!
With all external changes and the pursuit of trends, the series still performs its main function. It brilliantly destroys the most toxic belief of many viewers that the heroines are too ' old ' for a new round of the franchise and it should be called ' Climax in the Big City' The problem of modern cinema and television is that the age threshold of 50 years is considered a kind of career death for many actresses who are offered only the role of someone’s mother or God forbid... grandmother. Here, the authors adequately show us that there is sex, and the city remains in place, and our heroines do not cease to live a full life, face new problems and support each other, no matter what happens. And of course, gossip and share their personal experiences, because they are best friends ... to prove that in 50 years, life does not cease to please and lose colors.

' And just like that' on suspenders, Botox and cremation.
No, it's not that bad! But, if you are a big fan of the good old & #39;Sex and the City', then this series will be a blow to the heart. And this is not because of the absence of Samantha, but rather because of the lack of the paradigm that the series carried before.
In the 2000s, he was scandalous, revealing forbidden topics, funny and a bit naive. The new creation of HBO is an attempt to attract by the ears and make money. ' and just like that'...
Let's start with the main thing. I didn’t like it.
- Any film/series is based on the meanings it carries. Without meaning, there would be no film idea. But what is he like? If 'Sex and the City', which everyone loves and remembers so much, was built on ' Single women who are normal' then what topics are raised here? Here, global thought? What? We’re just looking at women who are... It's not a midlife crisis, not ' I'm a single woman at 55 and I'm fine' What does this series mean globally? It's not a gender problem, it's not a race problem. It feels like they've woven everything into one and are trying to take it out. But without the main theme - the series seems superficial, just for the sake of filming, and nothing more. If we recall what was filmed before, then there we see that in the Big Apple #39, everyone lives: gays, lesbians, transes, African Americans, and everyone is fine! They live and live. They subtly dealt with all problems, but the main one remained: ' Yes, I am a woman! I am lonely! I am looking for love (or not)' There is no main topic here, but everything jumps around what is popular now, and what, it seems, should be accepted by the audience. Only the creators never calculated.
- Heroes. If in the TV series 'Sex and the City' we had one main character and the rest went after her, then who is in charge here? A lot of screen time is given to other characters, and when the series does not have one main character, it is difficult to hurt the viewer. No attachment to the hero, no sympathy. Which one of them should I join? Which one should I live his story with? If the creators take on the top of all the heroines and do not try to reveal the tragedy of each, what to do to the viewer? Sitting and crying, I guess. Carrey is no longer sympathetic, just because Carrey has been replaced by other characters.
- Hero value. Due to the fact that there is no clear main character, talking about what kind of value each carries a little meaningless. Trying to catch up with old values. Miranda had a job, she was a workaholic, and that was her value. What is it now? We don’t see or see her learning. Alcohol? Charlotte had a value - a family, and she is shown as ' unbalanced mom who strives for status' And Kerry? Carrie was a great writer, and who is she now? What constitutes her identity now? Podcasts? Really? No GG in the series has value.
- GG problems. And there's trouble here. You can just bury yourself in them. There is no single problem that unites everyone on the screen. But there are a lot of problems that do not touch each other. And death ' men of her dreams' just one of them.
- The atmosphere. Oh, I love revisiting the show because it captures the spirit of Manhattan. The spirit of New York. You just feel like everyone is in a hurry, having fun in nightclubs and having one-off romances. What now? What is the atmosphere of the series now? Well, there's no atmosphere. Beautiful scenery is not an atmosphere, alas.
- Big Dramatic Question. He's gone, and I won't even speculate. I have already mentioned everything.
Now on the positive side:
- The suit works well. The characters are very stylish.
The picture, in general, is juicy. Some locations are well selected for shooting (interior photography; there are no views of New York). It's nice to see (if you don't take into account how the characters look).
The bottom line: I hope the money will be laundered, but the series will be closed on the first season. Here is the saying ' you can not stir up the past '.
First of all, let me note how amazing actresses look at 55. Both the heroine Carrie and Miranda met their maturity, already bordering on old age. No one expected them to look like they did 20 years ago.
This time the story is not about sex, but about something more. About friendship through the years, about loss, about new beginnings, about past and future hopes, about loneliness and, of course, about love.
In the first episodes, Samantha's absence was very obvious, but the team made the right decision, as if dividing the image of Samantha into three new female characters. In each of them there was a part of the beloved heroine. For Carrie, Sima doesn’t judge, and just knows how to listen. Naia for Miranda - will give the right advice and direct in the right direction of her thoughts, Lisa for Charlotte, who so lacks the chic and kindness of Samantha.
What was thrown over at us in the first series is surprisingly correct, strange as it may seem to say. So long to go to the man of your dreams, and to spend next to only one decade is terribly sad. But Carrie rightly said: despite this fateful incident, behind the happy years of life, which give only bright sadness in the heart.
At what age will each of us look back and realize that life is almost over, how long will we be ready to accept our old age and recognize it in the mirror? I would really like people to stop being afraid of it and continue to live to the fullest of their abilities.
Nobody wants to see the end of the fairy tale, but we were given the opportunity, even if we didn’t ask for it. Maybe I didn’t want to know what the marriages of each heroine would be like. It's too real and depressing.
We are used to seeing in modern TV series of the last 5-10 years mandatory presence of blacks, homosexuals or people with unusual self-identification. People who aren't like the others. Most do not react so zealously and selflessly to such unnaturalities. Just a little tired of thinking about their words and actions in advance, so as not to offend ' not like all '.
When they aimed at revolutionism, but slid into a parody
Sex in the mass consciousness remains the privilege of the young, so as soon as you turn N years old, television puts up projects in which sex is replaced by reflection on relationships and almost always the couch of a family therapist. The trend of lack of intimacy in maturity should have been destroyed by the continuation of “Sex and the City”, but here’s the bad luck: and just like that, sex and lightness evaporated from the series.
Legendary friends from New York in the nineties and zeros clinged to the fact that each of us (I won’t believe if not) saw or wanted to see themselves in them. Four bright archetypes personified different life positions, but they were united by one thing - independence. It seems that it was Sex and the City that first became so active about “strong and independent women”, and after 25 years the topic has not ceased to be relevant. Take advantage of your experience!
But the new – post-gender, post-straight – Manhattan is not enough to openly and boldly discuss burning topics, the criteria for getting into pop culture have changed. Now it is necessary to talk not only about death, alcoholism, infertility, but also to use as many terms as possible of the era of “new ethics”, so no episode is complete without discussing nonbinarity, polyamory, sexism, ageism and further on the list.
There is nothing wrong with this, on the contrary, it is great that the series keeps pace with the times. It is another offense: following the logic of “And Just Like That”, lightweight sitcoms are no longer in honor, from now on heavy hourly dramatic, even tragic, series are in the course, which must necessarily “push into themselves the unpumpable”. The heroines were endowed with all acute problems at once, and the poor things, as if waking up from a long sleep, look at the real world with eyes rounded with amazement - just as the viewer looks at them.
Witty and lively moments certainly were also, and successful dialogues no, no, but slipped, but still the product turned out with a sweetness. Overreacted.
The directorial work of Sinitia Nixon, the return of not only the former cast, but the entire crew, breathed into this series the very atmosphere that we are so familiar with.
The first series will drag you into the whirlpool of events, experiences and memories.
The last couple of years are the most fruitful for 'returns', just now the series are returning, as if showing us how we went along with the heroes. The audience for this series is quite specific. These are not women ' elderly' or ' people trying to use hashtags' Nope! These are the characters who are at the center of the world movement, where they emerge from comfort zones, where they are influenced by the public and fashion, where norms change every time and they too need to balance their consciousness with the trends of the rapidly changing modernity.
Sarah Jessica Parker has brought back Carrie, which as always remained the splendor of focusing inner mystery and simplicity, with strength and resilience.
Miranda is also steadfast in her work on herself, but her doubts about her personal life look realistic and we empathize with her more and more.
Charlotte is perfect as ever! She supports the family, turns and fights for the right development. Only the right thing changes so quickly that the way it adjusts is respectable.
Samantha's correct appearance retains intrigue and gives us a full picture. It is impossible to separate one from the other, but the writers managed to create each episode alive.
All the characters we know keep the unity of the image of a beautiful and lively woman. Such a warm memory is strengthened in the memory of everyone.
The first time I watched the series was when I was 17, but after almost 20 years, the characters are always close and you hear stories about good childhood friends.
After the season finale, I decided to watch a documentary about the creation of this series, which is also here and how much I didn’t know... I was never a fan, I was a spectator. I empathized with the characters, never got into their personal stories or studied thoroughly, no, I appreciated them when they appeared, empathized in difficult moments and rejoiced in happy ones. Tears of joy and sorrow... sincerely, always go with these wonderful characters.
I will miss you... and it turned out I missed you very much.
Sexual self-determination, the promotion of drugs and permissiveness, the absence of boundaries (which is especially destructive for children, ask any psychologist), the pathological desire to please everyone (which is also destructive for a healthy psyche), all this in the new season of Sex and the City. Conflicts and sensitive moments revolve around new American values that are alien and strange to Russian reality and mentality. Weak dynamics and sluggish drama.
The new season lost not only Samantha, Big and Stanford, but also Miranda. From a complete witty cynical heroine, she turned into a blissful schoolgirl, afraid to fall into political correctness every minute.
Charlotte strives to be the perfect mother, wife, hostess and member of the Parental Committee. And Carrie is to stay modern and relevant in a changing big city.
"Good genius" Samantha, whose invisible presence was felt by one of the reviewers, simply does not want to communicate with Carrie, showing a quiet sadness for the past that can not be returned.
You don’t want to carry a review for a long time, you can dig and find fault with a lot (including the clothes of people who came to paint). But it doesn't make sense. So many talented (I want to believe) people worked on the series and so weakly it “wrote”, are the hottest topics of 2020, these?
Yes, there are issues of sex after 55, aging, motherhood and relationships with children, the possibility of finding love in adulthood, friendship through the years, death and acceptance, existential crises. But they're secondary. That's where the resource for the story was. That’s what’s important to many.
Why you can’t leave a credited recognizable melody to create a positive mood, a mystery. All performers usually start a concert with a hit.
Why Natasha was needed in the narrative is also unclear.
I don't choke on poison, I'm sorry. It was like meeting an old friend, and he turned out to be an uninteresting stranger.
How did the sequel to “Sex and the City” come about?
Devoted fans will be puzzled, but still the advantages of the series. Women over 50 are rarely given enough attention, although they have the same busy lives: they fall in love, learn life and understand relationships. In this regard, it is really great that we can understand how difficult it is to be in the trend, to keep up with young people and at the same time stick to our principles.
As we all know, Kim Cattrall refused to participate in the sequel, but in “And Just Like That,” she is still mentioned in almost every episode. Be it flowers sent from another country or greasy hints in the finale. If the second season will be, I will watch only if you return Samantha, as the disadvantages of the series was more than the pluses. Or if they make a collaborator with "Emily in Paris."
New characters added to replace you know who are just annoying. By the end of the season, it was hard for me not to mention Che and their story with Miranda. Everything is so sucked out of my finger that I couldn’t believe a second. You can't remember the rest of the newcomers even by name.
As for the old men, they all suffered. Miranda abandons her principles and, without listening to any of her loved ones, becomes a completely different character. Charlotte and her family history also raise questions. The only character that was really interesting to watch was Carrie Bradshaw. Together with her, you worry, sympathize and cheer for her success.
In pursuit of all trends and the preservation of the popularity of “sex in the BG”, the creators failed to sit on two chairs at the same time. This is a different series, although it was written by the same writers.
The continuation of the cult series about the life and relationships of Carrie Bradshaw and her friends caused a mixed reaction among most viewers, and I was no exception here. Many condemned the creators for the fact that they decided to shoot actresses 50+ years, that they look not so good, and, in fact, it is “Pension in the city”. I was quite loyal to this – the series does not talk about the turbulent personal life of the heroines, but rather focuses on the midlife crisis, perception of their own changes at this age, understanding their past and gratitude for what they have in the present.
The series is about losses, about loneliness, about the difficulties of raising children, about a demon in the rib, about how sometimes it is difficult to build a relationship with a loved one with whom you have been together for many years, how difficult it is to overcome crises, how important it is to be able to talk and hear each other. Actresses themselves, by the way, quite well rejuvenated on the computer - the difference between what the viewer sees on the screen, and the photo from the shooting is huge.
As for the minuses, for me, this is an excessive desire to please all newfangled trends - here you have other orientations, and gender change, and black people (many), and Asians, and difficulties with the birth of children, and body positive, and what else is not. Quite a lot of vulgarity, ridiculous nudity, including a demonstration that usually does not pass censorship. Stereotypes about Russian women, strange humor and sometimes inadequate behavior of the characters themselves. I did not like the fact that the final series cut out all the scenes with the key male character in connection with the scandal in the life of the actor performing his role. These are important scenes for the plot. Overall, not bad, but I expected more.
I’m not a fan of Sex and the City. All the hit series of the 90-2000s somehow passed by. Yes, I didn’t watch “Friends” either and “Gossip Girl” caught up only two years ago.
I met Bradshaw in another project, the teenage romcom Carrie Diaries. And then I decided to do what was blown in every ear. And you know -- I'm glad it happened. Maybe when I was 10 or 14, I'd be a fan of Carrie and friendship, but I'd make sense. For 20 series - in the bull's eye.
He showed strong women, the psychology of relationships, a vivid example of codependency and added to the picture about this adult world. "And just like that," I waited and was sure I wouldn't like it. I loved it! He's back on target.
The series reflects modern New York, modern America and the modern world. I know that many people threw tomatoes at the project, they say, again, bloody propaganda. But... was it? (let’s not go too far as to say that I do not believe in propaganda of such things) In my opinion, every gay and non-binary person was not imposed, but laconically inscribed in the ordinary life of the main characters. Like it or not, Che Diaz exists, actress Sarah Ramirez herself is gender-nonbinary. There is no escape from the realities, but to avoid them, because in the 2000s they did not show - nonsense.
Charlotte's baby exists, too. Do you remember Jolie's daughter? The series perfectly showed how such parents experience. She didn't clap enthusiastically or take it for granted. Charlotte was in shock, Charlotte didn't understand. But Charlotte is not Jan from the new season of Univer, and thank God. On the Russian channel, the mother almost beat the child for being a boy with hobbies that are attributed and imposed by society on the girl. "And Just Like That" tried to explain through the emotions of a parent who, like many viewers, lives by the standards of a bygone era that it's OK, and that's Rock's choice. Yeah, maybe by 20. She is a child and has the right to be anything she wants.
Seen in the comments under the last episode that Bradshaw quickly forgot her husband. Quickly? His fate stretched a red thread throughout the season. But you have to move on, don't you?
Oh, that's it! The actors were accused of ... *drum roll * old age. Wow! So stay young forever?
The news of the continuation of the cult series was sudden and was accepted in two ways. The world is divided into those who are waiting for the updated version with impatience, and those who believe that the times of Sex and the City are in the past.
I did not put myself in any category, because in principle, nothing good from the sequels do not expect. 'Sex and the City' - cult TV series, to deny it is as stupid as the fact that ' And just like that ' never to be.
To begin with, the famous quartet turned into a trio, losing the part of it that, in fact, was responsible for sex - Samantha. Kim Cattrall refused to star in the sequel, which very upset fans. Thank you to the creators for not taking on the role of Samantha someone else, but a big dislike for how they brought the character out of the series. After all these years of friendship, you could have come up with a better reason.
The biggest drawback, in my opinion, is the obsessive desire of the creators to get into the entire agenda at once: here you have the fight for women’s rights, and the LGBT community, and a boy girl, and the rights of blacks. As a child who has learned a new word and shoves it everywhere, so the creators have ridden the modern agenda and are racing on it to liberal distances. All this is presented at once, without foreplay and explanation. At first it is confusing, and after a couple of episodes frankly annoying.
The plot itself is not bad: the difficulties are new, and the ways of solving problems are old - friendly support, conversations and full acceptance of all other people's cockroaches in your head. It's great that this motif in the series has not gone anywhere.
I will not talk about gray hair, wrinkles, etc., because everything will be there. For those still surprised that women and, oh, horror, celebrity actresses are getting older too, this series is clearly best not to watch. I liked the costumes too, but I’m not an expert.
In short, not bad if you don't expect much. Thanks for the nostalgia. I’m going to review the original.
I started watching after an impressive wave of criticism. But, since the original series adored and reviewed a hundred, it seems, once, I wanted to see the continuation no matter what.
And you know what? I may be in the minority of people who like him.
Yeah, first you're wrinkled by the ringe moments you get about every five minutes during the first episode. And then you think about what awaits the threshold of fiftieth anniversary (and maybe even earlier).
We have people who were on the wavelength – trendy, successful, young and beautiful. What's with them now? They are confused, trying to adapt to a world that no longer belongs to them. They get old, screw up, lose and try to figure out what to do with it all. They are just people, with new problems, with less power, with experiences that are no longer always appropriate. They seem to have been taken out of one reality and pasted into another – and I don’t agree that this is the director’s fault.
Separate curtsey towards toxic comments about the appearance of actresses - save them until your fiftieth birthday. Normal living people age and change, as much as we wish otherwise. It is wonderful that this topic is presented in this way and the veil is opened that there is life there. It's not the easiest.
The new chapter remained warm and bulbous, as did the original series. The further, the more. Reflections on life choices, mistakes, decision-making and happiness. I like it more than full-length movies.
' And just like that' I will try to write a review of a once-favorite film.
All right.
The continuation of the film, in principle, continues the narrative line of growing women in the big city. Since I belong to a generation that corresponds to the age category of serial heroines, the continuation of the series was waiting with an ambivalent feeling - I understood that the interest that was 20 years ago it will not arouse, but this is natural, because human life is becoming more calm and stagnant over the years. But there was hope that the beloved heroines, will continue at least the logical chain of their reincarnations, well, maybe with some moderately kringe situations. Carrey and Charlotte really continue the logical chain of character development. But Miranda is one of the solid and strong characters simply merged. More specifically, she was replaced by Cynthia Nixon. For the reincarnation that we observe the character of Miranda, except as a plum can not be called.
At the end of the series, we left Miranda a successful lawyer, a partner in a law firm, a married and very whole woman and a good person. Miranda is now a frustrated alcoholic (formerly the most complete of the characters), an unspoken aunt (formerly a top-notch lawyer) and a lesbian scoring joint (formerly making fun of Samantha when she was in the pink period). .
Apparently, Cynthia Nixon, set the condition of returning to the series her personal life, which we have the dubious pleasure to watch.
And all nothing, but tormented by the question - why exactly the most powerful and integral image was subjected to such a catastrophic regression. Miranda was the most independent of male influence. Samantha is addicted to intimacy with men, Charlotte is dependent on a family with a man, and Kerry, in principle, the whole series delved with its mm. And only Miranda was a strong, whole and independent woman. I mean, it begs a thought. Can only a latent lesbian be strong and independent? And I wish I had become a lesbian, moved to another camp, so no, it's shown that all her 55 years of life, she was never happy. That is, all these her searches, adventures and other things that we observed in the previous series are generally not about her.
The advantage in the series, in my opinion, is that all these new trends - queer racism and so on, are shown on the example of white cisgender women who try to stay afloat and balance, so as not to accidentally offend anyone and from this fall into embarrassing situations, which necessarily give rise to any extreme.
Otherwise, outfits, picture, aesthetic beauty are somehow present.
