On the vicissitudes of love... The film “Rugantino” refers to the earlier work of Celentano, the corporate style is already visible, but this is not yet a sarcastic brutal, but rather a harmful shalopai. And here we see his hero - a talkative, lying fellow with a bad character. He gets stuck in history, but this does not teach him anything, he did not see Rugantino reading the lines of Omar Khayyam: "Silence is a shield from many evils, and chatter is always to the detriment." And so he went through life until he met the beauty Rosetta, which was performed by Claudia Mori. And then we see what love is capable of. Not immediately, of course, the characters accepted and opened their feelings, but this is just the main storyline - a swindler who wants to drag Rosetta into bed for an argument and an impregnable beauty, followed by a jealous husband. More than once Rugantino, as they say, rakes away from the jealous, resulting in his two broken fingers. But by the will of fate, the husband flees justice for the murder and for Rugantino the path is open. While courting Rosetta, the hero does not notice how he falls in love with her, which produces powerful changes in him and his soul. He no longer desires revenge with his tongue, like pomelo, he becomes a man and is not afraid to look death in the eyes.
The film touches on many different topics, many even very ironically covered, such as the entertainment of the nobility, what only did the sister of the prince, the concept of justice – the killer was given a chance to escape, and the innocent was not given a chance to even justify himself. But the main thing, of course, is the transformation of Rugantino and Rosetta. By the way, there is a lot of Italian humor in the film, sometimes it is specific, but in general it is very appropriate. And just so you can enjoy the views of old Italy, as the picture is saturated with atmospheric shooting.
The lovely marital duet of Adriano Celentano and Claudia Mori brings its highlight. This beautiful couple looks very harmonious, both in life and on the screen. A little earlier I saw them in the film “Love and Knives Story”, which is quite similar to “Rugantino” – genuine Italian passions, very vividly they perform their characters. But behind humour lies tragedy. It’s very Italian to mix the two, but for a movie like this, it’s too sad. The same move was used in “The Story of Love and Knives”, but there at least left open the final, here ... the creators made the final touch in the transformation of Rugantino – he became a man, restrained, brave, worthy. The final scene between him and Rosetta just caused goosebumps.
