We all have our own closet. Once upon a time, I watched a movie with Nicole Kidman Others on the big screen. Very strong, ambiguous, leaving behind a long, long aftertaste, forcing to return to him again and again. Why am I writing about this movie here? Because the feeling during the viewing and the impressions after, the desire to return to the film and review it again as a whole and in separate pieces, these two films resonated with each other very much with me.
What's the movie about? About life, about love, about hatred, about mistakes, about decisions made and about their consequences, about how a person can change under the influence of circumstances and other people, about strength and weakness, about a man and women. And it is also about the fact that you need to be able to let go on time, when you come to understand that everything is over, because if you do not let go on time, it will be better for no one, it will only be more painful, scary and more difficult. And how difficult it is not to break, not to go crazy, not to escape from reality when you stand at the line, and there is only half a step left before it crosses.
And it is also about the fact that each of us has our own cabinet, where we hide what should never be extracted from it.
Despite the presence of several characters in the film, it is still ' the performance of one actor' and here I believe that the director, choosing Kim Hyun Joon, broke the jack sweat, and no other way. The image of the main character is shown amazingly, such an amazing transformation into a completely different person, into another person, absolute inclusion in the role, every body cell, every look, every word spoken. And if in his previous roles he was a boy, albeit cool and fearless, as, for example, in the Age of Feelings, but still a boy, then here an adult mature man appeared in all his mature glory in the best sense of the word, this is already ' not a boy, but a husband', strong-willed, stubborn, you can even say wise (and this is not so much about the main character as about the actor himself). And I am also absolutely delighted with ... naturalness, when there is no all this plaster, and you can see ' natural facade'.
In general, Kim Hyun Joon deservedly and according to all the laws of logic received the prize for the best acting in this film. Separately, I would like to say about the work of the film crew - directorial decisions, camera work, sound accompaniment - all this made the film incredibly full: the meaning is transmitted not only and not so much through monologues and dialogues, not only written on the screen text, but facial expressions, eyes, body movements, every detail in the frame, and sound accompaniment. By the way, the work of the team responsible for sound effects and music deserves a separate award, imho. Because sounds, creaks, sighs, steps, and, of course, music - all this not only accompanies the action, no, it is like a separate significant, even significant character, a full-fledged participant in the process.
In general, this film has a very long aftertaste, when it seems to have eaten a delicious dish, and it seems to be over, but then its taste accompanies you everywhere, makes you remember it again and again, feel it, want to return to it and taste it again, experience every note and every sip.
