«My greatest pain in life is that I`ll never be able to see myself perform live.» Kanye West is my favorite contemporary artist. I’m a big fan of his music and I got a lot of people into his music. His music is free and inspiring.
It is beautiful and incredibly high quality. I've never listened to hip-hop before. Each of his new albums is measured not by how much he is better than the other albums, but whether he will change the music again. He never compromises before creativity.
What inspires me even more is his personality, his journey to fame, his public antics, his interviews, his communication with the paparazzi, his fans. It seems that there is a fire in his soul and has not ceased since his birth to this day. He always does something, creates, invents and every time says what he has in mind, which leads to scandals that benefit both his popularity and his image, but invariably attract great public attention.
YouTube just has a collection of amateur documentaries about Ye, where you can explore his life in detail, but this film contains materials that have not seen the light of day. They were shot by Kanye's friend - Coody (not to be confused with Kid Cudi). It is important to note the time period of shooting: Coody filmed the path from Kanye’s successful production career to the release of The College Dropout, but then their paths diverged. The first two series are dedicated to writing the debut album and the battle to release it on the label, and the third - the rest of life before the creation of the album Donda. A million details of his life are missing, but you can find them in the same amateur YouTube documentaries.
It is inspiring to watch a man who tirelessly goes to his goal against all odds, and in failure finds the benefit of how best to achieve his goal, but in the film you can see from the corner of your eyes the reason for this behavior - his actions, his environment, his talent, his ambitions, his mother Donda. In West’s example, genius is really 1% talent, 99% labor, and the right people around. Donda really guided him and contributed to the emergence of just such a Kanye West. She taught him to listen to music, she bought him the equipment to write it, she nurtured his unwavering faith in himself, always supported him and gave him wise advice. In turn, Kanye almost free (and sometimes almost without) wrote music for any artists of the time in order to make his name known to all musicians and labels. Everyone wanted his tracks, but nobody wanted him to write them for himself. But he didn’t care what others thought. He had a plan, a vision that he followed from the beginning to the present, and nothing could stop him.
I was looking forward to every episode and I enjoyed watching it. I think Kanye fans will like it, and the rest will not seem particularly interesting, then decide for yourself.
