If I did not know that the director of this film Sergey Bodrov Sr., I would think that this is the work of some inexperienced, aspiring director. It seems to be an interesting idea, an unbanal theme, good actors, and as a result, everything together, in my opinion, somehow did not work out.
The main characters - Ilya (Eugene Tkachuk) and Vera (Polina Pushkaruk) are treated for stuttering by an experienced and talented doctor Olga Nikolaevna (Polina Agureeva). The doctor conducts expensive classes of group therapy, for which she selects patients and treats them according to her own complex methodology. The group is engaged in different social status and profession people, but they all share one passionate desire – to learn to speak normally. They entrusted their fate to Olga Nikolaevna and believe in her promised healing. However, the doctor is also not sinless, and one day she will decide to use her official position for personal purposes.
If we separate the problems of the film and the artistic presentation, then I have different opinions about the first and second. The film demonstrates that a strongly expressed stuttering is, in fact, a real tragedy, since it completely deprives the stuttering person of the opportunity to communicate with people around him, express his thoughts and feelings, be heard and be understood. Desperately articulating with distorted faces, seemingly not mute, but in fact devoid of speech characters find themselves outside a society in which everything is tied to communication. From this point of view, the problems of the film, shot by Bodrov Sr., who himself in life suffers from stuttering, arouses attention and is undoubtedly an important social topic. However, the artistic presentation of the material made me feel that individual fragments of the film are not mounted with each other - some lines begin and do not end, others are interrupted and continue without explaining why it came out so, and not otherwise; there is a lot of false and unnatural in the dialogues, for example, when Olga Nikolaevna decides to be frank with Vera about her personal life. Somehow logically not built and fabulous looks the final of the film.
Of all the actors, I would single out Polina Pushkaruk, although for me she, unlike her partners in the main roles, is completely unfamiliar. The film itself seemed to me “falling apart” into separate pieces, some unassembled. Of course, it causes a sense of empathy for people suffering from severe stuttering, and this, in my opinion, is the main reason for which it can be recommended for viewing.

Unbeknownst to others, Cherkasova falls in love with Ilya. He, in turn, is in love with Faith. How to get out of this tangled triangle when you paid a lot of money for school. When is your teacher in love with you? What does it mean to keep the person you love close to you?
Actors: The plot is a triangle of three hearts, whose fate presented different obstacles on the way. It does not matter in what intelligent society the heroine of Polina Agureeva grew up. It doesn't matter how Pushkaruk found the money to study. And, of course, it does not matter how much the hero Eugene Tkachuk had to earn for treatment. The main thing is that the circumstances of difficult periods in the career, family (Ilya’s hero has a son, to whom he cannot legally come) are tied to the heroes. But the goal is to talk. Live a new life. Well, life can begin even when you're not communicating well with others.

Evgeny Tkachuk liked his desire to work, to tell the truth, which is already difficult for him. But he does. The chance to fix it is never too late.

The hidden angel of this group is the heroine of Polina Pushkaruk (the mass viewer is familiar from 'Call Center' and I am familiar with 'Filfak'). The heroine combines incredible talents: she and a guitarist, and in the end, it turns out that she did not disclose about her past life. In reality, Pauline is a workaholic, also not deprived of the talent of an illuminator. Her character is trying to find a way to become better. But would you rather be with such-and-such a mother (made-up Ace Ventura in a pack), a lover of borrowing money. And, apparently, in the past often walked on a wide foot. It's good that her screen mother isn't alone anymore. And with a man who is willing to listen more than talk.
From the second Polina, this time Agureeva manages to convey inexperience in relations with men. The heroine Agureeva is not an experienced relationship, like a volunteer only crossing the boundaries of her profession. But if she was able to win the love of the whole group (and one stately man does not breathe smoothly towards her, although I will not say that he is in her taste), which she does not need at all. I just need one. And so she appeals to the younger generation in the person of the Faith. And she does not suspect that her advice is used for the object of her lust.

I am glad that the heroes, despite the defects, are open and always tell the truth. But in the scene of the conversation between faith and Olga Nikolaevna, it was impossible to understand what Cherkasova’s dream man was like.
Impressions: Of course, it's hard to find love. Mutual attraction to each other is even more difficult. Cherkasov should have regretted and understood, because with such a baggage of knowledge and experience, not everyone will want to break away from their favorite business. So in the first version, she saw the signs of a worthy candidate for the role of a guy - well, then you will see. In addition, the last climactic moment put all the dots on ' and '. The heroine of Polina Pushkaruk is not a timid ten girl, managed at the worst to deceive by telling the truth about the breakup. And this feeling Cherkasov will pass through, and most importantly understand that not all people could become intellectuals. The Faith had a heavy share, from which some facts about its formation will surface.
Everything else: the Bodrov dynasty shows its character through a constant reminder of itself. My family. And that's good. For example, last year ended with the picture ' The sea is worried once' (although the film is interesting for acting roles), as ambiguous as the love that Sergey Bodrov Jr. experienced on-screen daughter. Here, grandfather and father - in one person - forgot about past failures (picture 'Ninth'). The production was amazing, despite a long script that was rewritten for 15 years. From the first scene in the show, Cherkasova demonstrates her trick, which metaphorically expressed, the director’s impulse to say, to abandon the imbued with false language. Something similar could be observed in Tarkovsky in his 'Mirror'.

Bodrov according to his own script becomes almost one of the pioneers. Since it is rare to see characters on the screen, people with peculiarities of colloquial speech developed against the background of their concussion, injuries or problems with speaking arising from childhood. But, like every person, this "Small Society" has problems, experiences and troubles. For example, the hero Ilya was not lucky with a harmful witch.
Impressions: This is the idea of a dramatic film that has come to us, the audience, for a very long time. The picture makes you feel the state of screen personalities who are difficult to communicate in society. And the interaction with the world, even more difficult.
