The most sensational film about the Snowman Why was this one the most famous? Because according to the operator Roger Patterson in the frame is really Bigfoot - North American cousin of the Asian Yeti (aka Bigfoot).
So the female Bigfoot, covered in dark brown hair, goes into the woods at a rapid pace, looking back at Patterson. The creature moves on its hind legs, and if you successfully press the pause, you can see the toes and features of the monkey snout. Since the original film has not yet been found, it is difficult to restore the video in high quality. The most annoying thing is that the logs and trees around the Bigfoot are very clearly visible, while the legendary primate is slightly blurred. A typical case for such films, where allegedly captured something paranormal.
Of course, the main question that arises from this short (less than a minute) video is whether it is fake or not? Unfortunately, a lot points to the first option. For some reason, Patterson hid the place where he managed to capture unique footage. It was found only in 2011 - this is a section of a stream that flows into the Klamath River in California. In addition, it looks strange that the Bigfoot moves very expressively, as if knowing that he is being filmed, even on a bad film. But is the creature in the frame an actor in a suit? In the 1960s, it was no longer difficult to make such a costume, to recall the film King Kong Escape, released in the same year as this Bigfoot. And soon there was the first "Planet of the Apes", in which some orangutans are suspiciously similar to our "big-legged".
In the real world, by the time of the shooting of Patterson’s film, Bigfoots had already been associated with giant primates, although until 1958 (when huge human-like footprints were found in California), they were considered bears. Similarly, the situation with the Himalayan Yeti: researcher Bill Tilman in a book about Everest in 1938, instead of the local name mitoh-kangmi (literally "man bear - Bigfoot") accidentally or deliberately wrote a mitch-kangmi, which translated as "disgusting snowman". Later, the image of the “man” easily spread to the American Bigfoot.
Despite the above hunch with possible exposure, this film has no desire to scold, because it had a strong impact on popular culture. Snowmen began to appear frequently in feature films and delight viewers, who, nevertheless, maintain a healthy skepticism about the real existence of Yeti and Bigfoot. Perhaps for some, these creatures like Santa Claus and Santa Claus are non-existent, but very interesting legendary characters. Whatever goals Patterson pursued, he pleased a lot of people.
