Firstly, the series is really for adults, i.e. it is not a formality, not a convention, not just an 18+ mark. Meanings and transmitted emotions are completely unchildish, they in principle cannot be understood by children due to the lack of life experience. And therefore, the series does not balance on the verge of children’s and children’s with semi-infantile characters, and from beginning to end is focused strictly on an understanding adult audience. That's my opinion.
Secondly, thanks to the "Lamp", the series still manages due to the animated format with one foot still remain in the space of childhood, because it is with childhood and adulthood associated cartoons in the adult audience. Great combination!
Thirdly, the series is made by experienced craftsmen (primarily I mean Syenduk), who have been watched, who stuffed their hand on the best world models. Therefore, on the screen – all the best that pleases us in all sorts of branded animated projects: graphics, music, dynamism, cynicism. There are so many nice little things and details for which you often put on pause to consider better, and there are indeed many jokes that would otherwise escape the eye. Real adult humor, often not just “on the edge”, but openly vulgar or provocative.
There are no positive characters among the main characters in the series, these are ordinary people with their own complexes and passions. This is especially close to the mass viewer, because you recognize yourself in them. But the main character appeared in the last series of the first season, with his arc and catharsis. I was very happy, it was very emotional.
By the way, I am immensely glad that a bold semantic point has been put in the season, as a result of which these series are perceived as a whole finished work. On this basis, you can sculpt something new, but it will be exactly new.
Conclusion. The project deservedly got into the TOP-250, and it seems to me that even after the “settlement of dust” it will still remain there. Because hype and quality are different.
Secondary series with cartoon characters, and meaningless content - flat jokes, primitive plot, continuous screams and curves.
The rating of the series is 18+, but adults will not be able to watch it. I guess most of the high marks here are from teenagers who are attracted to a primitive mat.
In the series there is allegedly an educational part, where during the main action, a mini-story on the issue of the child is simultaneously included. And the answer to this question is always as primitive as possible, as if for the feeble-minded. And that's in the adult series.
Humor tortured, references for references.
The names of the characters did not even begin to think about - father, mother, etc. Apparently, the brains of viewers are not burdened with thoughts in the process of viewing. The development of the characters themselves is zeroed out at the end of each series.
Characters always behave like cattle. With the exception of my mother, this image of a boundless patient with an idiot husband has long exhausted itself. 20 years ago.
But at the end of the series, everyone realizes that you have to be honest, kind and help your family. That's it. Happy and.
Explains that could not explain to themselves what purpose they were created for.
Almost all the negative reviews compare the Explanators with Rick and Morty, first of all, a mistake. Secondly, these are 2 completely opposite series, one theme that unites them is the value of family.
All events that take place in the Obyasnyalkins concern all family members, in each series the characters interact with each other. They solve all the problems together, there are selfish moments, maybe even immoral, but for this it is worth the mark 18+. The fact that there are domestic quarrels between the wife and husband, they are in almost every TV series / film, comparing it with Jerry and Beth from Rick and Morty is very stupid.
Rick and Morty is based on the adventures of grandparents. There are moments related to the family, but it does not bind these series together.
In general, the series is suitable for those who like to watch the work of Seyenduk. The plot is well written and the characters are well worked out. Only one series with memories from photos is worth it. Sometimes it gets warm when you realize that you are the same with your family, regularly look at old photos once a year.
I’ve been a fan of Seyenduk for 8 or 9 years (and even once met him in person), so I couldn’t miss his first streaming show. Especially since I paid for a one-year subscription to KinoPoisk - I have to justify it somehow. Anyway, I looked at the Explanatory. I watched them on YouTube and the sensations of viewing on the PC are slightly different - even the same one and a half speed included. Except that, the quality has become better and the plot with the characters is a little deeper worked out.
In general, I did not regret watching, although the series came out disposable and quickly weathers out of my head. Checked out all the pop-cultural references (although there were too many parallels with Rick and Morty, but this could be expected from Seyenduk). It seemed that adult things, like mats, here in abundance and as if they were specially crammed larger to justify the adult rating, but there was no need for this.
There were a few funny moments, a few heartfelt moments and a good ending, which puts an end to the plot, which I do not believe, because it is unlikely that Syenduk and Egor achieved a show on streaming for a single season of 8 episodes of 15 minutes (except for the screensaver and credits). I am sure that there will be a continuation, but like for the completeness of the story.
In the end, I was satisfied - it's a light entertainment gum, which you can kill time, if you don't expect too much. I can advise all the fans of Syenduk (of course, his voice there is not one character in the voiceover). Watch YouTube episodes, by the way, is not necessary - the season of the series turned out to be holistic and self-sufficient.
7 out of 10
Once a set of sketches from "I've seen it already", which grew into a series. Many people may say that they don’t deserve the whole series, however, it is worth noting that they are the easiest concept that can grow into something more without much effort.
The idea of the series is quite simple and no less interesting: the family signs a slave contract with streaming. Yes, they break the fourth wall with the idea. And that will continue throughout the series. This meta humor is amusing... Only the first couple of times. Then it becomes not just ordinary, but begins to annoy. From now on, we will begin to compare the series with another equally popular series, namely Rick and Morty. Why is such a comparison appropriate? Because the explanations do not hide this similarity. But more on that later. Now, Rick and Morty have the same humor, but it's not boring, because it's not inscribed from a dick and doesn't take half the series. Fortunately, the rest of the series is based on funny stories and funny humor.
The family itself does not cause rejection and in the course of the plot, you begin to penetrate them a little. But from the beginning of the series, you notice that the father and mother in the family are literally Jerry and Beth, from their characters to constant quarrels. And it would be nice if the creators took these characters and fine-tuned them into the series, but it turned out so. It's like the creators didn't understand how it should work. Let’s move on from the original characters. Grandfather is amusing, he is pleasant to watch and jokes associated with him are funny. But the child is a separate kind of torment. He's not funny, he's not interesting. He's pissed. Terribly infuriating.
Overall, the series is average. The animation is pleasant, the humor is funny, the plots are addictive. But if you've watched Rick and Morty, you'll definitely be comparing these shows. And the Explainers are going to go down a lot. Especially as they idlely take ideas and even whole scenes from Rick and Morty. From interdimensional cable with alternate versions of characters to the scene where the main characters are pumped. But even with that, I hope that in the second season, the Obesnyalkins will become more independent and will not bend so quickly.
A wonderful series, a huge thank you to Egor and his team for creating this animated series. Someone might say it's a tracing of Rick and Morty or some other animated series, but so what? And no, I don't think it's a calculus, but I just want to say that Rick and Morty get fucked and more. Especially the fillers. But that doesn’t mean the series itself is good. Same thing with the Explains. Everyone has an opinion! I also want to tell you what I liked about the movie. Take the optimization series for example. A lot of different styles of drawing (by the way, some styles are even cool, albeit cheaper). Or the Day of Judgment and the Day of Judgment. After seeing them on the soul relief. The Dacha series tells us the past of this family. And she may not be very friendly, but they still love each other. The series is beautiful, and after watching so much relief on the soul. I recommend this cartoon. He deserves attention!
"Explained" - raw and strange collaborator Syenduk with Kinopoisk, who so to the end and understood what she should do, entertain or teach.
Let's not discuss the drawing. It's a standard tracing from Gravity Falls or Rick and Morty. Moreover, Syenduk is directly related to them. Nothing new.
Let's forget about the cartoon family with the smear-father, sorry, the father (fashionable in the same boyish way), the fig-mom, the weeping child and laying on everyone grandfather. Typical residents of any Russian sitcom from "Voronins" to "Daddy's Daughters". Neither laugh at them nor sympathize at all.
Ignore the structure. Half of the series we are introduced into the series, then lead to the screensaver (copied ideologically from the “Wonderworkers”), then play a pseudo-educational project, where they touch on an important topic in the opinion of the creators like diabetes, copyright or slavery.
We don’t even pay attention to repeated jokes. Well, you forgot your grandmother 6 episodes out of 8, and in two scored on this, obviously, your planned plot path, well, it happens.
As a spectator, I would like to understand one thing. What kind of genre is that? What emotion should I feel at the finish line?
Is that a postironia? So the question is humor? It's just not mine? It’s like ‘Rick and Morty’, but where behind the grumblings of a mad grandfather is not the homage of all pop culture, but just a stream of consciousness?
Is that an educational ambition thing? So you put a kid in jail and he listens for 20 minutes about how and when slavery came about? Then why stitch up adult jokes that are both tough enough for teenagers, but pretty embarrassing if you're over 14? And mate. How appropriate is it to be here?
Is that just a thing for fun? Let's say, but I haven't seen such tortured jokes in a long time. Put everything you're used to there on reality here? It's not a bad idea, but then humor doesn't have to have boundaries, certainly not so obvious.
In short, "Explainers" is some kind of trouble. Lost in genres, meaning and purpose byproduct, which was made by quite talented people. It happens. The show, which explains everything, never explained why to watch it.
I am very familiar with the content of Syenduk and Egor, but I was a little alarmed by the idea of serialization of “Obsnyalkin”, which beyond a couple of funny concepts, it would seem, and did not go beyond. Initially, Obesnyalkins was a sketch in which a stereotypical happy family from children's programs was seasoned with domestic quarrels. And if you think about it, it doesn't sound so interesting unless you give it a chance after the first episode. I will say right away, the main drawbacks for myself - there is no explanation of previous events in the first series, which will be referred to later. It's like the first 3 pilots don't mean anything, or 'everybody will understand'. And of course, 'kringe, rofl, gaslighting, toxicity, kombucha' and other words that get out of hand and create the feeling that the characters are spineless inhabitants of Twitter. This is a good thing to do, though.
Like any good series, Explanators gradually begin to accelerate and get out of the pattern of the cognitive show and more begins to pay attention to the characters that have both incredibly bad sides and those that led the characters to their current position.
There are a lot of familiar references, voices and soul in the episodes, which I could not but rejoice in knowing the entire history of the authors’ formation to their position now. I’m looking forward to Season 2 and I hope I’m not alone.
Some critics note that the pilot release is bad, the series is not funny, and in general the animation is “disgusting”.
I think it's pretty good. I really liked the pilot series, how the topic touched on in the issue (an actual topic, by the way). The mention of Russia was very amusing, straight laughed from the heart. The theme of capitalism and “markets decided” is certainly not disclosed, but the very fact that such words are pronounced gives hope that class consciousness will still wake up and the cause of Vova’s grandfather will live on.
I got episodes 1 through 7, but episode 8 seemed a bit confused. Abrupt humanization of the producer, prison, trial - events develop too quickly in one series.
Anyone wonder who this series is for? For those who like it.
The animation is peculiar, the absence of the fifth finger on the hands is stressful, but overall good.
The series is original, although the influence of other well-known projects is felt.
In our time, so many animated series pasted overseas and, you want - do not want, the first such Russian project will necessarily be compared with foreign counterparts - the main thing is not to overdo it in criticism.
I’ve watched the sugar series 6 times. For some reason I liked it the most.
The show was very happy! A huge thank you to Yegor Loskutov for such a wonderful story!
Most of all, I liked that we were shown not only the bad aspects of the Obyasnyalkin family, but also their positive aspects and what they want to appear, but are not. After the series with the dacha, I really got into the characters.
The finale was pleased, the “subtext” with artificial intelligence and strikes generally deserves a standing ovation! The way the producer was revealed at the end was also very happy, it was straight to tears!
And Grandma. That's great!
The only thing you can find fault with is the insufficient disclosure of topics in terms of “scientific cognition”, for example, the same sugar. One could insert its positive aspects that it is a preservative, without which most products simply would not survive to the shelves of stores, and many products would cost much more, but I stifle.
Thank you so much for producing this project.
The guys went from short sketches on Youtube to their series, thank you so much for the opportunity to prove yourself! Comparing Obasnyalkins with RIM, and so on, the strangest thing is that if you are doing this, you need to turn to the school economics program or start with a doctor and understand that the budgets and opportunities are wrong. Someone may not like humor, have not read other reviews, can not say, taste or misunderstanding of simple references. Someone may think that a lot of mat, and I’m not a racist, but you should open your eyes wider and choose the audio track.
The last series has not yet come out, and even at this point I open my mitten early, but purely wishes for the 2nd season:
1. It is unclear about the survivability of my grandfather - honestly I can not even formulate the essence of the question, because I did not understand how it should work and at what point I should worry.
2. Bati's stupidity is like beer foam, it's on the surface, it's always visible everywhere and it should be, no question, it's part of the character, but it's like there's no beer under the foam. On the contrary, he conquered his wife with extraordinaryness, and later sharply became different. This is very striking in the series with the mortgage. Yes, he ordered a chair, but when 'everything happened' he was like 'well, what, I wanted him, weedy', and wanted to see in his eyes that he repented, because of his stupidity he could not or forgot to refuse and had to give the money and so let his wife down. That he wants to fix something, he has a core, but he cannot.
Let the father be stupid, but he loves his family and worries about his wife and child, upset that he does not succeed. He is aware of his actions and stupidity even though he continues to do so. He doesn't have the courage. I wanted to say tricks, but it does not go with stupidity. This is the same trait that the father has in Rome, and you look at this couple and think, how did they even get together, lack faith in what is happening: 'Yes, he is stupid, but he has (insert the quality of the character) and therefore it is fair that he has such a determined wife and still loves him for something.'
Again, I didn’t see the last episode, maybe it’s already there, and I turned out to be a pig from the comments that writes, before I watched.
Thank you all!
Explains - an empty investment or a reasonable investment?
The series causes conflicting feelings in me, perhaps they are caused by high expectations for the work of Syenduk, and perhaps too much foresight of foreign animation. Explains are definitely a series for an amateur, and I am an amateur.
I like that there is not only a vertical plot (the series resonate with each other, are not every ' from scratch ' and therefore do not drag into an endless sitcom). The plot raises important topics (the black market of human labor, the problems of ritual business in Russia, the lack of labeling of added sugar in the food industry), but to notice them you need to look thoughtfully and deeper, and not use the series for the background for beer, which I think is not available to everyone.
References are pleasing, but there are also growth points in them, in some places due to lack of time or an overabundance of secondary scenes, the explanations themselves are lacking, and the meaning seems to be in them, because the series is about Explanatory. Perhaps I was hoping for a series of explanations, not enough.
Still backstory is only on YouTube therefore 'fresh' the viewer may not have enough introductory information, a little incomprehensible connection of the explainers with each other, what keeps them together besides the contract? This may be discussed later.
In general, the series seemed cool for me, on a solid 4 of 5, there are deep thoughts and reasoning, while in slavery for example 2 sides of the question are spoken at the same time: we built pyramids, hanging gardens - the involvement of slaves in the great wonders of the world, their importance in history and influence on the next generations, as well: to keep silent tools, we invented everything, you - just built. That it would not be possible to reproduce these assets and architectural monuments without rulers and the hard work of slaves, a double-edged sword.
I think that the second season (if it will be) can grow into more adult themes and become a really scientifically popular show (alcoholism, addiction, ecology, etc.), but for now the guys have the first and, in my opinion, a successful pen test, for which I am personally very grateful.
If you watched the first trial series of Explanatory on YouTube and they did not ironically come to you because they were created by Yegor and Syenduk, then a full-fledged series is recommended for viewing. Otherwise, you will probably be wasting your time.
First of all, the series is not funny. Absolutely. Basically, we are offered to laugh at the loser pope, who constantly causes Spanish shame; a retired grandfather who ruins the life of his family for money or other personal gain; grandmother-furniture, which just happens to be in unexpected situations and the viewer for some reason should be funny about it; and the general situation in ' ideal' a family where everyone yells at each other with a mat and tries to strangle each other while a small child cries underfoot. And about the last point, the creators almost after the first series either forgot, or they themselves understood what it looks like, so that further family members argue with each other less and less.
Next, the overall concept. Trailer, annotation to the series, reviews - everything tells us that ' the family signed a slave contract with streaming, and their lives because of this turned into hell.' There is nothing like that in the series. After the first series, the family comes to terms with the state of affairs, and then calmly continues to release their show, once or twice remembering the contract he signed. There is no war with an evil greedy producer, the release of the show does not bring discomfort to the family (except fatigue), the characters do not purposefully try to spoil the show after the first series. That is, there is no single goal that would stretch from the beginning to the end of the season. Perhaps the topic with the termination of the contract will return in the finale of the season, but so far there have been five episodes, and it does not even smell.
Heroes: I'll go into more detail here. The only person I’m interested in watching is Mom. Because despite the fact that in the first series they tried to present her as a bitch who hates her life and her husband, sneers at him and moans ' Why did I get into this at all?', in subsequent episodes it is revealed that she does not ironically love her husband. She is not ashamed or annoyed when her husband gives out something kringe again. Supports him with word and deed. And given the character of the husband, you understand that the love of Mamuli should be unearthly. Best character of the series, definitely.
Dad: Could have been a good character if they hadn't tried so hard to make Jerry out of Rick and Morty. In my opinion, characters of this type are needed in order to be pleasantly mocked and laughed at. For no one likes self-centered pathetic people. But no, no one is bullying him. Moreover, the creators periodically try to show his human qualities: resentment against his father because of a bad childhood, concern that he will not be able to become a good father or give his family a better standard of living. But all my empathy for Papula is being nipped in the bud by his next kringe line. The authors are good, of course, that they withstand the character, but such a character infuriates.
Grandfather: Judging by what Egor did with the dakimakuras, it was expected that everyone would like this character. But they forgot to give him charm/charism/something else to love. He's just a character who doesn't care about everyone, including his family. Perhaps someone will say that it was intended, but I do not understand this idea. It seems to be the main supplier of black humor, but, as mentioned above, humor is not funny.
A puppet without his own opinion or goals. It has exactly two functions: ask questions to adults and periodically give out ' Wow!' or ' What a horror!' In the story, he does not affect anything, does not show any initiative. I remind you that in the YouTube series, he got Grandpa to release the animals from the zoo. It was no act of any kind. In five episodes of a full season, this has not happened again. I think that's the kind of behavior you would expect from a six-year-old in real life. But the series should have made it more interesting.
Granny: furniture. Just furniture. Replace her with a chair, nothing will change. I do not understand what the audience should laugh at when furniture is thrown into space or furniture is worshipped by Egyptians. But if you think about it, the Egyptians worshiping a real chair would be funnier.
Nachpop component: also more likely to pass. In the series 18+ answer questions of the child. If you’re an adult, you almost certainly have your own knowledge and opinions on every subject discussed, and they won’t change after watching the series. Perhaps explanation episodes would be more interesting if they told lesser-known facts that not every adult knows. But why, because we can’t tell you that sugar is a demonic evil, and compare it with prohibited substances, and get an excuse to show a nightclub with boobs and ass, because this is a TV series for adults! The maturity of content is expressed in this. Where to go without mat, sex and drugs.
For which I can praise: the animation is good. It was made by a professional studio. I especially liked the musical in the first series. And the animation, and the beautiful backs, and the song itself is candy. There is no full version of the song.
What else can I say? I join other commentators - I don't know who this is for. Probably for Egor and Syenduk, who called the series a comedy. It's unlikely he was originally aiming at any audience, it was just made to do. It’s great that this series exists. That's a precedent. I hope that in the future there will be more and more projects of domestic production, they will compete with each other, and their quality will improve. I want to live to see the moment when Russian projects will be given high marks not because they are Russian, but because they are good.
This is the first comedy animated series with an age rating of 18+, created specifically for Russian streaming. It must be assumed that this was a certain risk for Kinopoisk, especially since the authors had previously worked only on short sketches on the Internet.
Immediately note that the rating of 18+ here plays a rather marketing role - such animated series attract more attention, profile media begin to talk about them. In fact, in the Explanatory age qualification boils down to the following: the characters can swear a couple of times, and in the frame sometimes a detailed elastic ass can appear. That's basically it. But you need to look deeper.
It is obvious that the animated series was sculpted according to the patterns of what is now popular in the West and not only: Rick and Morty, Smileling Friends, etc. However, the Explanators turned out to be at the same time similar to everything, and unlike anything, original, ours. This is their main problem, and this is their main strength - they try to be too much at the same time: a parody, a science pop, and a family drama. Due to this, the series are very different from each other. Perhaps the authors in this way tried to find their style, well, or banal to see what will please the audience, and on the basis of this to continue the second season.
Bojek’s horse was revealed only by season 5, and I finally fell in love with the Obyasnyalkins on episode 4, and I really want to hope that the project will live to the second season, because it is already clear that 8 episodes is too little. And of course, I want to believe that the Obesnyalkins will open the way to other similar creations, that more animation will appear on domestic streaming platforms. And for that to happen, such interesting experimental endeavors need to be supported.
"Obsnyalkins" - one of the serious projects in Russia in the category of "animated series for adults." From an amateur show, the project grew into a full-fledged series with large timekeeping and excellent animation.
The main characters are the Russian family - Mamula, Batyok, Son, Grandfather and Grandma. Parents throughout the series try to answer Sonula's question. Each of these characters is very different and has its own unique characteristics. But after watching the pilot episode and then the others, you ask the question: “What audience was this animated series created for?” Topics are raised by children, well, or adolescents, about which an adult simply cannot but know. Mat is often inappropriate, and the “imperfect” family in the person of parents turns into toxic people who need to take away parental rights.
But still the project deserves attention, because in Russia there are not so many series of this genre, and it needs to be developed. It remains to be hoped that in future seasons the creators will correct the mistakes and make a better show.
Well, my pen got to the new cartoon from Sienduk. Before viewing the pilot, there were no expectations from the project, so it is possible to evaluate the project more closely to the objective.
Syenduk's comedy project
In the center of the cartoon is an ordinary family of Obyasnyalkins, who *drum shot* are assigned to explain various things to their son. In general, the idea is good, the younger generation will be able to learn something new in the format of a family show. However, a few moments and *mat-mat-word-mat*. It's not childish, I think.
This is the main question for the project. Who's that supposed to be? Who is the target audience of this cartoon? In the cartoon, questions of the school curriculum are raised, ala serfdom in Russia, and next to this, the Matyuks in +18 cartoons are stuffed for some reason.
The other side of the question is humor. He's not here. Default clichés, images you've seen in other cartoons: some kind of symbiosis of Griffins and Superbeaver. Absolutely obvious twists and that's in the pilot, Carl! The pilot is the quintessence of boredom and despondency. For watching one series 5 times I had to check how much is left to the end.
In conclusion, the project needs to decide who it is, not who it wants to be like. From Syenduk expected more, in the cartoon Syenduk at least some references to his work. For example: at the end of the pilot, family members receive from the general director of the show buns for the success of the project. Well, give them something out of the ordinary: crunches there, or lots of cereal boxes.
I do not recommend judging the series by one episode, although in the first series Batek himself says aloud that ' it was probably our worst issue' By the third series of the show is perfectly accelerated and pleasantly surprised.
“Explanations” is a well-designed adult animated sitcom that could well be streamed on Fox or Adult Swim. The project follows the traditions of modern adult animated series and skillfully balances between a cynical, postmodern parody of educational programs and aging shows with a dozen seasons behind them, telling a soulful story with morality about the importance of family values.
I also see no reason to complain about the quality of the animation, its performance on the contrary is not in doubt. With a clearly small budget, the team of artists manages to create visual content that is not inferior to Western television projects.
Let’s start with the fact that this cartoon score is 18+ and it is planned for an adult audience, and of course for teenagers, where not without them. Total comparison with ' Rico and Morty' and similar successful, foreign cartoons, high ratings and advertising in the style ' it will also take off, funny and interesting to watch! I mean, look how you love it!' But actually. . .
For the whole first series, in which they usually lay all the most interesting things so that the viewer became interested in the plot, characters and the picture as a whole, did not sound like one funny joke, although this is, damn it, a comedy cartoon where you can turn in this direction as you like. Here even the most short-sighted child is so 12 years old, expressed that it is 'creeing...'. How is it possible that a team of writers in 20 minutes of timekeeping could not produce anything that would cause even a shadow of a smile?
- The animation itself, although it is ' taste ' in general, also does not cause interest, it is simply disgusting.
The plot is not shining... but literally nothing. There is nothing unpredictable in it as in the same 'Rick and Morty' you will not see any twists, deft plot twists, even just a character for whom you could empathize. You can’t compare it even close to 'Simsons' 'Futurama' 'South Park' etc. Characters are constantly rushing around the screen, sometimes foolishly joking and as if they do not understand what they are doing and what they are trying to show.
Well, the reason for writing this review were grades 8.0+, reviews with stories ' about cool jokes, a fascinating plot, and in general it's the guys from YouTube and They TOLD AND DID MULTICS should support them'. Just one request - dear readers of conscious age - don't be fooled!
Three years ago, on the expanses of YouTube, there was a funny animated almanac – “I’ve seen it already.” Consisting of three episodes representing sketches and sketches, various genres and styles. Created by cartoonists from all over Russia. One of the sketches was dedicated to a simple family, which is filmed in a popular science program, but according to the contract, they are obliged to do this for life. There is also aging, change in appearance and death. This micro-episode formed the basis of a full-fledged animated series - "Explained".
You may be surprised, but in Russia, things are not as bad with animation as they may seem. Fascinating adventures about heroes, from the studio “Mill”, may not reach the quality of Pixar, but this does not prevent them from collecting every year a loyal army of fans in theaters. Children’s animated series about “Luntika”, “Fikiskov” and “Barboskin” have long been absorbed into the cultural code for many generations to come. And the series about Masha and the Bear are gaining billions of views on YouTube, being at the same time one of the most recognizable Russian brands in many countries, all over the world. Do not forget about the philosophical educational animated series - "Smeshariki", which remains a favorite of both children and adults for twenty years.
The niche of children's entertainment content, quite densely and confidently occupied by various cartoons from the youngest to preschoolers. At the same time, the space for adult or at least teenage animation remains free. In the mid-nineties, everyone was shocked by The Simpsons. In the zero years of their vulgarity conquered “South Park”. In the tenth years, the scattering of adult animation was not just watched by snobs, let alone the current time with "Rico and Morty." In Russia, nothing like this was created, except by the hands of Internet amateurs.
With the help of the online community of Russian bloggers and the help of a streaming platform, “Obexnyalkins” can be called the first animated series with an adult rating, or not? The age restriction plaque makes it clear that children under 18 are not allowed to watch. But waiting, something sharp becomes in vain. In the cartoon, the adult key characters are dad, mom, grandfather and grandson, as well as grandmother (serves for humorous segments to the end of the series). A classic set of protagonists to identify with the character. However, this is becoming insufficient. Jokes on the verge of a foul, not easy enough, at some point they are not at all. On the timing of the twenty-minute episode, the frequency of jokes reaches 2-3 per episode, which looks unacceptable. And after watching, it becomes difficult to remember at least one.
Starting in pursuit of imaginary originality under the guise of adult content, the creators forgot about the most important thing. For two episodes, they failed to show a funny and memorable protagonist, with a decent density of jokes. The members of the Obiasnyalkin family are endowed with the basic stereotypes of the generation, at the same time, it becomes very difficult to identify some special characteristic features and emotionally connect.
The second point is the plot. the conflict under the guise of a popular science show does not seem like something fascinating. In addition, giving serious topics with humor is not an easy task. The scales will always lean closer to boring. The same "Rick and Morty", often talking about smart topics did it easily and unforced, with references to pop culture, more like a parody of science, without the desire to teach. “Explained” also, judging by the second series, include moralizing moralizing, saying that sugar is harmful, and parodies on drug addicts do not look funny, but rather far-fetched.
Despite the small shortcomings, the animated series “Obexnyalkina” looks a worthy representative of the genre and a pioneer in the world of adult animation. This is a talented finished product created by talented people with great love for their work, which is clearly visible during the viewing. I hope that Obasnyalkina will become a worthy example and give a powerful impetus to the development of adult animation, and in the future such projects will only become more.
I would like to add five dollars to this project. I evaluate as just an ordinary viewer, and not a mega critic and movie lover, I of course know that this is not the first series about the Obyasnyalkins, and I know who the ultra man Syenduk is, but just the opinion of a person who just likes to watch cool things and have fun. Watching was very fun, cartoon, I understand that is positioned as just an entertaining show and some enlightening character in itself does not directly carry, but rather is a link for the folding of the genre. The picture is beautiful, everything is clearly animated and all the shots swim smoothly, which is quite an infrequent phenomenon for Russia. This is natural not for family viewing, but for the evening alone or with friends directly "VO". And I also want to thank everyone who worked on the project, it is necessary to promote, draw, make a script, make an animated film and shoot this hard work. Of course, it happens that for me, there is a little lack of interaction between the characters to understand that they are really family, but that does not prevent the cartoon from being good.
Metaironic parody of scientific pop, turned into scientific pop
Despite the fact that at the time of writing the review only two episodes were released, it is already possible to judge what will be the whole season, because the first two episodes should be added three issues, released in 2020 as part of the almanac & #39; I have already seen it'. And they almost do not differ in quality from serial.
I will try to avoid spoilers.
The fact that the family of the main characters is problematic and spends time in quarrels with each other is not a spoiler. The fact that my grandfather signed a slave contract for everyone, too. But what's important here is that the family hasn't read the contract, and they don't know what tricks the producer is going to do to get the show out of the family. Therefore, the plot holds intrigue - will the characters want to get out of slavery, in which they fell through no fault of their own, or longing and quarrels will drag them into the abyss of despondency?
The show is a sample of meta humor in its literal meaning - many gags are associated with the fact that the show jokes about itself, and this is its main humor component. Inexperienced, not familiar with the lore of the series viewer I offer the game. Set yourself a score if you hear a character say the title aloud ' Explainkins', about or without. When the scores exceed a double-digit amount, you may consider yourself a winner in a game of meta humor.
As for the humor of the usual, the sitcom gags are mainly visual, in the form of references to a particular phenomenon of popular culture. The textual structure of comedy is somewhat random, the punches that characters can give away often appear out of the blue, and by themselves can cause laughter but not rust or tear. The jokes themselves didn’t make me smile (it’s hard for me to smile when looking at a quarreling family living under 24/7 surveillance). But this kind of hard humor has its connoisseurs, and it works out its rating of 18+.
The visual is excellent, the skill of the animators is beyond doubt, the artistic part was engaged in conscience. The show should be watched, not listened to in the background.
But it is important to warn the viewer, who will watch the show, expecting him to parody dubious educational projects - in one part of the episode there may be a metaironic gameplay of the genre, while the other part occupies the same educational narrative (for example, about the dangers of zoos or the harm of sugar to the body) that was supposed to be ridiculed. Although we can assume that the idea of the show was broader than just ' parody of the genre'. Nauchpop takes up half of the timekeeping of each series, and it's convenient. The viewer can find to his liking the half of the series that he liked.
The educational part, if it was not sewn to the part 18+, could have a rating of 8+ and be shown on the Carousel, so I am sincerely interested in which audience - adult or children - was planned by Yegor Loskutov as a target. I am inclined to conclude that this is still not a family series, because children meta-humor and multi-layered presentation with metaphors may not master (and Matyuks are also not for children’s ears). And adults most often already know about the topics covered in the educational part (and can say about it ' I have already seen it ').
A solid 10/10 for animation and an abundance of visual gags, a real feast for the eyes. As for the plot, I would give a 6/10 show. Nauchpop in the series is somewhat superficial and frivolous, and comedy sags due to the lack of funny jokes themselves, compensating them with references. However, a show of this kind is not watched because of the plot, and everyone chooses the merits in the story to taste. And everyone can criticize the meta-story, because everyone has different ideas about the perfect show. In any case, the real miracle that the series saw the light of day and reached the release at a difficult in all respects time.
I like when people approach their business with love and dedication. And you can see it in the cartoon.
Each series is full of pop-cultural references, cultivating kringe in the zeitgeist. You hear these jokes and you see the essay of the authors and their bright characters. On an associative level, it was a pleasure to listen to such humor. And, I think, we can only be happy that the once ordinary guys from Tula and Volgograd managed to organize such a project, and even in a difficult animation field.
But still, this does not negate the flaws that were obtained as a result of the first large-scale experiment of nerds. And first of all, this applies not to animation, which many users express their 'fi', but to script/directing. The concept of popularizing the scientific view on everyday processes works well in the almanac, in which the "Explained" ' were previously presented. Brief and bright. In the series, where the series lasts 20 minutes, about the same amount of time is allocated to explain, the rest of the series is given an additional plot thread, which loses dynamism. Also, additional plot branches are not disclosed enough, which should be the emotional pattern of one large cake, but in the end, the cream seems to be lacking. There is no single genre.
As mentioned above, there are a lot of references in the cartoon, which can be attributed to homages and our favorite shame from Yegor Loskutov. In a good way, these elements should only be a tool for plotting, but in the series they form its foundation. As a result, originality is lost, and kringe becomes really awkward and protracted. Plus, the abundance of such local references seems to predetermine the boundary of the target audience. So, I can not recommend the series to anyone else who is not familiar with the work of Siyenduk and is not interested in the culture of the zero. Although, to be honest, some jokes are so subtle that I managed to understand them, only in perplexity putting the series on pause and rewinding.
Despite the fact that I am for openness to new creativity, I did not manage to easily enjoy '. However, I hope this is not the last such project, and in the future we will see new cool cartoons from the Nerds team. For example, I really liked the novella with President Anton in the almanac. Maybe they will do something based on it. In the meantime, I just want to wish good luck and success to Loskutov, Blinnikov and Syenduk!
An interesting project in which Western values are projected on the domestic reality. Does it work? Even though we see the same thing every day, yes. However, in those moments where the title of the series begins to work, and the characters begin to explain - everything slides into confusion of topics. Why? I didn't get it, to be honest. Which brings up the question: Who is this series for? It is aimed at fans of Rick and Morty, it is promoted as 16-18+, it states answers to ' adult topics' But the theme of the first series carries the question 'What?' because everyone knows what serfdom is in Russia. In the series they say ' for life' but conversations ' for life' do not cross the threshold ' Sasha Tanya' level ' life' humor is too low, and mat is completely inappropriate, and censored (Again - why?). Looking at it, it's a bit of a shame that adults behave like this in front of their 5-year-old.
Despite the fact that the authors draw inspiration from foreign popular animated series, viewers will not wait for serious family themes from ' Rick and Morty' you will not see the suffering and satire from ' Horse Beau Jack', and all the humor is built around the grandfather from ' Super Bobrov' and grandmothers from that French film about a man-nanny - ' Super Nian 2'. And all this is seasoned with the branded ' Our Answer to ' in an advertising campaign.
Thank you for trying ' Answers' Western 18+ cartoons, but please stop ' Answer' and start asking questions.
I want to start with praise for Movie Search: streaming is not afraid to experiment, signing a variety of projects for streaming. Yes, not all of them are successful, but nevertheless some Russian streamings are not so bold in variety - someone just not very different from each other series rivets and that's all.
I was waiting for the release of the first series since I learned that Dima Sienduk was working on the project. In general, I have been following the work of Syenduk for a very long time, and I know that he is (as it seems to me) a certain "Guru" & #39; quite a different animation. The project was interesting just because of that. I also learned that Egor Loskutov is actively involved in the project, whose YouTube channel is also filled with interesting content (and close to what Seyenduk is doing at home). And the director of all this creation is also the notorious man from YouTube - Evgeny Blinnikov. I know him specifically from the animated Russian-language YouTube multi-series - Metal Family. There Eugene was on the voice of the main character - Glam. As Kinopoisk indicates - in the scriptwriters besides Egor, Satyr is also indicated, that is, for the most part, behind the creation of ' Explaining' there are creative people from YouTube.
The series began quite well, the first series was different places. Sometimes it's a cool funny joke, a reference, sometimes it's still a joke too kringe, even if the characters in the series themselves understand that she's kringe. That is, the first series did not go smoothly for me, but at the same time it was very good for the beginning. You can’t stick to the voiceover, to the animation too, part with the musical – twist.
The second series - here I can't find fault with jokes, it's gold. Fascinatingly told about the main theme of the series, it was really interesting and informative to listen, while it is quite funny and beautiful visually.
In short, it is 'Fixics' for adults.
I look forward to the next series, thank you to everyone involved in the series.
