Film about growing up and the beginning of independent life “Fragile Flowers in the Flow of Days” was one of the most pleasant discoveries of the IFF 2023. The film was announced as a participant in the main competition. The picture did not win the main prize, but the crew took away the award for the best female role. It is well deserved, I think.
The film tells about the characters who have finished their studies and are entering an independent adult life. They get a job for the first time, rent separate housing for the first time, come together with their halves, learning how to build a family life. Many are concerned about the future - whether there is enough money for it, whether the current job is good, whether it is worth formalizing the relationship officially.
Someone has a difficult relationship with their parents, and therefore in my thoughts eternal quarrels from the past and thinking about whether you can forgive them what you do not want to forgive. Their parents are trying to make peace with them. Maybe one day it will be too late.
The film is unhurried, in a typical Japanese style. I liked it in general. I recommend to those who want to reflect on the topics touched on in the tape and / or are at the age of the main characters.
