A heartbreaking story This is a powerful drama based on a true story, directed by Terry George. The film tells the story of Irish citizens who were considered terrorists by the British government and put to horrific conditions behind bars. This story is about their mothers who suffered an incredible tragedy, as if the whole world was against them, because their sons in an instant became scum outlaws.
The Irish do not know what English tyranny is. For centuries, the Irish people felt the humiliation and oppression of powerful Britain. After so many centuries, everything repeats itself, and we see how Irish, young men fought desperately for their state as best they could, but their attempts were ridiculous, and they faced a sad end.
Watching this story, you feel a great resentment for them, and especially for their mothers. Poor women were pressed against the wall. Their children became enemies of the people and were imprisoned, where day after day their morale fell, because the conditions in which they were kept were terrible. This feature film reveals the truth to the world about this story, which has two sides of the coin, the viewer only has to decide which side the truth is on.
The main role in the film is played by the legendary British actress Helen Mirren. She is a very talented actress and has been in big movies for many decades. Mirren performed this role delightfully: so subtle, so sensual and defenseless. Together with her character, the viewer goes through an incredibly dramatic story. The second mother was played by Irish actress Finola Flanagan. I remember her well since childhood from the movie "The Others". Also a strong actress, and in this film it was nice to see her.
Sons is a 1996 biographical drama. This movie is like a stab in the heart. He looks at his emotions and leaves a trail behind. The picture turned out to be very strong, and it certainly has its value. I think the movie is good and I say yes. Thank you.
