This picture is a perfect example of when actors are constrained by a bad film script. The first and most important drawback of this tape is a boring, banal, absolutely not catchy plot. Everything is so straightforward and stingy that it becomes boring already at the fifteenth minute. Who is good and who is bad becomes clear even earlier. There is no sophistication in the plot. There are no sharp turns that could somehow interest the viewer, reveal the characters to him in a new way, either. So you watch the movie knowing what's going to happen next minute.
As far as the actors are concerned, I personally regret that such great names as Jack Nicholson and Michael Kane have managed to get into this, in my opinion, frankly failed project. We all know what kind of villain (the one you want to strangle with your own hands or, conversely, the one you love with all your heart) Nicholson can play. However, in this film, despite the very vile actions of this hero, everything that we see on the screen in the performance of Jack is only a faint parody of what he can create. And, personally, I believe that the main reason for this failure is just the same very bad and uninteresting plot, in which such a villain as the villain Nicholson, there is simply not enough space.
What also surprised me was the completely useless and unnecessary Lopez in one of the supporting roles. As I understand it, the creators of this picture conceived her image as a burning, dangerous, passionate Carmen. But, in fact, we observe absolutely no emotional singer, who was taken into this project exclusively from a marketing point of view.
In general, you have a movie that will make you “miss” at the screen all the time it will go. However, the only thing that pleases in this film is a very good performance of Stephen Dorff.
