Movie talk with a boy named Zombion! What does D.D. mean?
David Duchy ...
(About the 56th minute of the film)
Dudley Fair
Hugh Wilson recently passed away. He wasn't a genius, he wasn't a pioneer, he wasn't an influential filmmaker. Hugh is just a good director. It was Wilson who directed the very first Police Academy. He was also responsible for The First Wives Club, The Tess Bodyguard and The Explosion from the Past. Remarkable paintings, especially the last, where the main role was played by Brendan Fraser.
In 1999, a great tragedy occurred. The movie "Dudley the Fair" came out. Insanely stupid, space-expensive and catastrophically boring. Yes, an old animated series that everyone has long forgotten. Why would Wilson even take it off? A mystery covered in darkness. He took Brendan again, he seemed to want to repeat the success of his own “Blast from the Past” or stupidly collect the box office, as Fraser did with “George from the Jungle”. But...
The budget of the picture is about 70 lamas. The fees didn't reach 10. It was the end. Critics destroyed him. Wilson's career is dead. Ordinary people didn't accept movies. The IMDB rating is 3.8. We have a slightly higher rating, but less than a thousand. Sad, damn sad. What is the main problem of the painting? Perhaps (not the fact), I am mistaken, but it seems to me that not all cartoons need to be transferred to full-length cinema.
No, this is not the worst movie in the world, not the worst comedy, but when in ten minutes of screen time, the main character falls from the chair about five times, it becomes insanely weird. They are not people, but cartoons in human form. Take the plot itself - the villain (Molina) throws gold in the mountains so that people come to the excavations and spend their money in shops. The villain is confronted by a Canadian mountain royal policeman on a horse. Yes, the horse will naturally spoil the air, and show the tongue (correctly guessed).
Man, it's such a kindergarten. There were a couple of really funny moments. Like what? When the gang decided to rob a bank, but most were standing on the street because there were so many bandits that they couldn't get in. What side did Malina bring here? A serious actor. I have always had sympathy for Fraser. But we have to admit that even "George of the Jungle" was a head taller.
About the evaluation. I decided to regret "Dudley the Fair" and not to throw it on his cineman's trash (for the past merits of the director). You can still look at it once, although you will not lose anything if you miss your eyes.
P.S.
There are two versions of this film - with a cartoon (about a cunning fox) at the beginning and without it. By the way, the cartoon is cool.
