Farmer and cook! In the early 50s, Betty Grable's relationship with Foxx studios cracked at the seams. Since the studio denied her a number of major roles such as “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes” “The Girl Next Door” “The South Street Incident” – giving them to such actresses as Marilyn Monroe, June Haver and Jean Peters. In order to improve relations with her main star, the studio bosses offered her to play in the film “The Farmer Takes His Wife”. There were no other interesting offers, so Betty Grable agreed.
New York, 1850. Molly works as a cook on a ship. She is fun and charming and very attractive to men. But she has only one relationship: the captain of the ship she works on. The truth in their relationship is more curse than love. One day, a horse breeder and rider Denny arranges a temporary job on their ship, which drives Molly crazy. And on the ship unfolds a real love triangle. Also, all these events occur against the background of competition between representatives of water transport and the railway, which also affects their relationship.
The film was released in June 1953 and failed at the box office. Betty Grable didn't really stand out, but she still played brilliantly. You can also highlight the actress Thelma Ritter, who perfectly played the not despondent middle-aged lady. You can also mention the work of the costume designer. It’s just a script that hasn’t been worked out a bit.
